Cute_Kitten Posted February 17 Posted February 17 No but of the opportunity arose I would try them. I like wearing plastic pants over my diapers (especially if it's a cloth backed disposable) and at night to help prevent leaks. I like what I hear about them but they are more work via washing etc. and they're good for the environment etc. But right now disposable diapers fit my life best so it's what I use. Maybe someday in the future that will change. Pun intended. 😂
carsfan Posted February 17 Posted February 17 I'm in cloth as much as possible at home, to bed, and short ventures out of the house. I love them and it saves money. Definitely a bit more work but worth it to me. 2
foreverdl Posted February 17 Posted February 17 I chose other, because I love the cloth feeling on my skin, and I love the feel of the disposable diapers getting real full, so I use a good thick cloth inside of 2 diapers and plastic pants with another cloth diaper in the plastic pants to catch excess , and then stuff to hold it all up so it's not down to my knees, lol
nappyboymids Posted February 17 Posted February 17 I wear cloth nappies and plastic pants every night when I'm at home. Partly because I love the feel, partly because it's more economical - and I'm old enough for cloth to be what I used when I was young, although I don't really remember that ... 1
tigercub59 Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Cloth at home and when out shopping, eating out or other activities when not with family. Disposables when traveling. 2
tuffy Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I wear cloth, but when traveling I switch to disposables.
FretaBWet Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I wear cloth at night, disposables during the day. Right now we have arctic air on the way so I'm wearing disposables 24/7 because our pipes may freeze and I can't risk wet cloth diapers without a washing machine. Hugs, Freta 2
Stroller Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I'm in washables virtually all the time. I switch to disposables only: 1. When I've got no access to a washing machine. 2. When I'm going for a medical examination (I don't think it's fair on the medical team to confront them with washables) 3. When I'm physically unable to wash the nappies or change myself (I've been recovering from surgery, and it's not fair on my wife to expect her to change and wash cloth nappies. She was OK with changing disposables though.) I've been back in cloth for the past 4 months. 4. For occasional social events with friends, when there's a risk they may realise I'm in nappies. Disposables are easier to conceal and need less frequent changes. I wear washables to do less damage to the planet. I like wearing disposables, but they are filling our planet with plastic rubbish. 2
DiapergirlWB Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I did i loved how it felt but no matter what i did i leaked very badly. 1
AbabeBill Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Yes, of course. I grew up in cloth diapers, so did everyone else then, so it’s my favorite go to type of diaper. With cloth, you can go as thick or thin as you like, you can use them as back up to disposables, (over the outside), or even inside a disposable. An extremely versatile medium. I love having plastic pants, which are needed to go with them too. I do like disposable, and wear them often, but my first love, is cloth. 1
willnotwill Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Yes, from time to time I wear these when I'm going to be home all day.
Little Sherri Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I really like cloth diapers, in terms of comfort and feel, and they are more leak-resistant for side sleepers, and they cost less, however despite this, I don't use them that often. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, because of the work involved - I don't have infrastructure to operate in cloth diapers without washing them pretty much right away; I don't have a diaper pail that I could soak them in, and wet cloth diapers, left to their own devices, mutiny very quickly. So when I wear them, I usually rinse them in the shower when it's changing time, and then they go straight into the washing machine. However, at that point, I then need to track them through the complete wash cycle, because I feel bad having my wife or one of my kids transferring diapers to the dryer, folding them, etc. Also, I find they take an an "untended toddler" smell a lot quicker than disposables, and I think that one of the reasons I'm not divorced yet, is that I'm careful about smells, so I get self-conscious if I'm sitting next to my wife and a waft of stale pee comes out of my plastic pants when I shift position. Lastly, the bulk of them makes them usable only around my immediate family, so to justify the effort, I need a 12+ hour stretch where I'm at home, no errands to run, and nobody is expected to visit. This can be hard to engineer. I've worn a cloth diaper to take the dog for a walk, or, rarely, to drop someone off at the train station or a mall or whatever, but generally, when I'm in cloth, I'm a homebody for 12 hours of wearing them and then 4 hours of laundering them. I also have a somewhat irrational self-consciousness about wearing plastic pants around my wife, even though I've worn countless absurd disposables in front of her. I think it's a hangover from when I was a kid; I didn't wear cloth diapers that often, but when I did, I felt very exposed - they were way more bulky than disposables, and obviously there was no option for me to put them on myself, so coming downstairs in the morning in a wet cloth diaper, and plastic pants, there was no pretending I wasn't "different" from my siblings. 2
rusty pins Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Yes, and I would probably wear them more if my living situation was different. As it is, it's very hard for me to discreetly wash and dry diapers without someone finding out, or possibly finding out. I also find, even with thick cloth diapers, I need to change sooner than with a good disposable, but I must say I like how cloth wicks pee throughout the diaper and the feeling of a wet cloth diaper. I probably enjoy disposables more, which is strange since I was raised in cloth diapers.
Marta Posted February 18 Posted February 18 98% of every day i'm in cloth. Every night without fail as more absorbent for side sleeping. Wicking is a big plus with cloth, and layering for as little, or as much, as you need, to suit the occasion, ie short shopping trip or a long car/train journey or other out and about things. As long as I'm wearing suitable clothes to cover any bulkiness there is no problem. And the comfort and softness of a newly washed, and outside line dried, cloth diaper is wonderful to wear. 1
Little_Mouse Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Answer: Other When I was a new born, baby and toddler my mum put me in cloth diapers. I Don’t remember if I could like them or not. As an adult I have only used disposable diapers.
Little BabyDoll Christine Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I chose "Other" for "Yes: That is all I wear". It is not a difference in degree, it is a difference in KIND. It is like the difference between the improvised tissue paper headpieces that a girl would put on a bobby pin in her hair to wear in church and a full bridal veil or a modern so-called "babydoll" that lets everything show vs a classic, halfway-to-the-knee 1950's babydoll On 2/17/2025 at 1:41 PM, Little BabyDoll Christine said: No At least someone got it In a way, this is a correct answer for me since cloth diapers were never "on trial", they were the default. When I tried the throw-aways THEY were "on trial" and I was pretty sure of the answer; the look was wrong, the feel was wrong the whole experience was wrong. It did not feel like a little girl, I felt like an inmate in an institution
Diapered Dave Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I'm in cloth diapers and plastic pants every night, except when traveling.
BabyJune Posted February 19 Posted February 19 That's all I wear except very occasionally I wear Rearz disposables.
Spiderman Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Well I did buy cloth diapers, but never quite figured out how to put them on. So that would probably be a no for me.
Moochie Posted February 20 Posted February 20 I really should wear cloth diapers and plastic pants more often, today is the day after I change my wet and messy InControl BeDry diaper. I have to go in my office this afternoon for about three hours, and I am committed to cloth diapers and plastic pants under my regular pants. A few drops of baby powder scented oil will keep me smelling fresh and clean when I wet. 1
