This is a survey just to find out what everybody is politically. Please don’t get into any political discussions as it almost always turns into fights. This is meant to be fun and a little insightful. Let’s let this be the first social media forum that can be fun and respectful towards politics.

I answered socialist but I imagine with the average age of this site that conservative will be the most popular.

In truth though I don't the purest form of any one ideology works perfectly. I think socialism works well in a lot of areas. I think socialised healthcare and nationalised utilities/institutions are good ideas. I think tuition should be free and I think there should be a large and strong safety net for people suffering from hard times. I don't believe in the weird dogma that everyone except a select few should suffer from low standards of living just so a select few can become more wealthy than they could ever hope to spend.

I'm also very liberal too though. Extremely pro-LGBT rights, pro-open borders, etc.

In reality I would accept anything left of centre... But I live in the UK so I'm doomed to forever be disappointed!

My political orientation is simply "Me" I don't identify with any political belief system and actively try to separate myself from them. There's too much tribalism in politics. I have a very wide range of political beliefs, some are considered "liberal" or "progressive" others are considered "conservative" others don't fit into either. Politics seems to be the main thing where people  deem it okay to put someone in a small box and  label them this or that, I would like that to change. I am me, you are you. we are not our political party, we are not a political orientation, it's more complicated than that.

I'm an anarchist revolutionary/antifascist, but I guess socialist is the closest? Basically I want to rid the world of people who oppress others for no reason.

I am surprised at the number of Conservatives here

When someone asked me, "why are you libertarian?" I said "Oh; I have my Reason"

I am a communist. Specifically, I am an orthodox Marxist, i.e., the variety of Marxist that Lenin was before he and Stalin developed their own theoretical tendency (which was Marxism-Leninism, the governing ideology of the Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China).

I believe the theory of political economy expressed in Marx's Capital is more accurate and has better predictive and explanatory power than the modern economic theory I was taught. I believe a people's-democratic socialist government is absolutely necessary. Having said that, I believe Marxism-Leninism as a way of implementing Marxism is dead. I believe we should learn what we can from the Soviet Union, and from socialism with Chinese characteristics, and start blazing our own path.

I also believe that the Red/Black split needs to heal. I believe existing anarchists and MLs are too rah-rah campist to learn from each other, which they desperately need to do. MLs have a great political-economic analysis but no materially functional strategy or tactics. Anarchists are brilliant on the ground but have a tendency to go "we'll deal with that later" about stuff you really need to deal with now.

Politics, in the worst sense of the term, comes up anyway. I wish it did not, but A) we are highly politically charged over the last half-century as the result of the expansion of government, a product of the Left, and B) things that should not be politicized, like vaccines are. When Trump was in office, the vaccine rebellion was on the part of the Left, then when Biden won, it shifted

What other sites have done, from OUTPOST GALIFREY to LibriVox is set aside a subform for that where those who want can go and have at it (a place I would not intend to visit unless I had to. My political posts tend to be long because I explain  my how's and why's and, if possible bring in supporting evidence). But  The fact is, politics, as it is done today, corrupts and discussion

And anyone who does not agree with me is a Conservative, Left-wing Libertarian nut :):)

Wow; lotta conservatives; I wouldn't have expected that lol.

I'm socially liberal, but economically conservative....sooo, Libertarian? I guess? I don't believe in any kind of radical extreme; I believe in balance and moderation; smaller government and power to the People, with a free market, secured borders, strong military and emergency response systems, with a strong economic policy. When it comes to foreign affairs, I feel we should be independent as a nation and mind our own business...unless something like WW3 breaks out or something and we need to whoop some ass to end that shit quickly and decisively before it can escalate any further; definitely a fan of "Peace through strength."

Or in the words of Tony Stark, "Peace means having a bigger stick than the other guy." lmao.

And obviously I am very pro-2nd amendment; I love my guns, I take them everywhere and actively AVOID places that have "No Gun Signs" because THOSE places are prime targets for mass-shooters. Why do you think they're almost always at a school? Or an airport? Or a hospital? Or a bank? It's because none of those places allow guns, and it turns out criminals don't give a shit about gun laws; only law abiding citizens do. Funny how that works lol; if you outlaw guns, only the outlaws will have guns. ?

I also believe ALL drugs and prostitution should be legalized lol.

I'm sure England would  have been inspired to win last night,  if Mr Corbyn had been Prime Minister.

You should change it from Communist to Authoritarian government.

Also what is the difference between a Liberal and a Progressive?

@Sailor Snow

I like to think I am "center" oriented, and as my brother Dan says "The best for the people,"

I don't know if nowadays anyone is like me or NOT, because the parties are "ULTRA liberal" or "Ultra Conservative."  It seems as if nowadays, your either WAY to the EXTREME Right, or EXTREME Left, and there is no "center" which is a shame.

The government CAN and should have SOME secrets, and that is because of security concerns, but government is getting so ridiculous, that I can't seem to TRUST them much, because the FEDS have eroded, and that "Yellow Haired Toddler" has DESTROYED what makes me trust that they will do the right thing(s).  Now, all they are doing is saying: "nope nope nope nope nope" to EVERYTHING: reminds me of THESE guys from Sesame Street:  They say "yep yep yep yep" and "nope nope nope nope" :)  The party in Control usually says "yep yep yep" The party NOT in Control says "Nope Nope Nope" and nothing gets done.

Government is supposed to be working FOR the people, not AGAINST them - Enough Said :)
