Little Sherri Posted November 8 Posted November 8 What a stupid question, right? Well, it occurred to me, as I felt a slight irritation on my skin out back, after a long day in the office, spent in a Critter Caboose that took what I gave it for about 18 hours. Those early inklings of a rash probably weren't the fault of that luxuriant Rearz diaper - I'd been travelling the previous day and had spent another long shift in a BeDry, in a seated position almost the entire time. This wasn't the malignant, dissolving-skin diaper rash that requires a medicinal nuclear strike - this just needed a rinse off and some extra diaper cream. But, a thought occurred to me, in that moment: I wear diapers. A lot. Not that I needed proof, but, this was proof - I had diaper rash. Only people who wear diapers get diaper rash. This is far, far from the first time I've had it, but still, I felt... slightly proud. Like it was an accomplishment. I decided I wanted to wear diapers, and so I have been, and here I am, with a slightly red bottom, reaching for the zinc oxide cream. Yay me. 2
SpiderBaby Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I've never been proud of a diaper rash. It always makes me cry when I get my diapee changed. 2
WeaselDiaperBoy Posted November 8 Posted November 8 My partner and I deal with this on occasion. When we get a rash we apply Boudreaux's Butt Paste on the effected area with a spatula. It's nice to get help. 4
Moochie Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I am proud of what caused the diaper rash, but not the diaper rash. 3
~Brian~ Posted November 8 Posted November 8 (edited) @Little Sherri no, a diaper rash is a rush just like everything else, and it is a rash that can hurt you. It can burn, itch, peel, and just be a pain in the neck. Babies and adults get diaper rash, because they wear diapers, and because they’re not depositing waste in the toilet. If they were doing so, they wouldn’t have a rash, but because their bathroom is their diaper, that is a foregone conclusion that they are going to get it, and as adults, we know that babies get diaper rash, and as adults we also know that eventually you will get a rash, and it’s going to hurt and it’s going to feel like you’re on fire. I’ve gotten it myself and I know that it hurts like crazy. Diaper rash is caused because with the fact that your diaper covers that area, anything that you release is going to be released into the diaper, and that touches your skin, and anything in your diaper, touches your skin, as well as the diaper itself. The reason why you want to treat it is to get rid of the problem with your skin reaction, since your skin is your defense mechanism its your outer shell is a text the outer shell from attack, your skin is a defense mechanism, a barrier, and when the barrier is attacked, it reacts. This is why you use diaper rash cream and a lot of it. You want to make sure that you keep your skin protected, and add that protection when necessary. Diaper rash cream will make sure that whatever you get on your skin falls away and it’s the diaper rather than stays on your skin which is why diaper rash cream is an effective barrier. Diaper rash is a skin condition just like any other skin condition. In order for your skin to heal, sometimes you have to leave it in open air. That is why several times a week I will go without a diaper for several hours to make sure that my skin is dry and my skin is healthy before I put a diaper back on when you were in continent wake me, you have to wear diapers there’s no “I think I won’t wear a diaper today” kind of reaction because you know you’re gonna need it. However, if you’re lucky enough and able to maintain some sort of control for even a short time, so that you can air out, it does help. Every time I do that however I put a pad underneath me so that if I were to release at least that pad protects me. Remember, you must remain vigilant to protect your skin, and that’s why a barrier cream is a tool that should be used. I don’t use it that often myself, but I have it available, and I have used it when necessary, it takes a few extra seconds to put it on and yes, you have to make sure that your diaper does not contact the cream, or it does not get on the tape. Otherwise your diaper is useless because it must stick together in order to hold. I also have a unique perspective, because not only do I deal with diaper rash sometimes, but as a disabled person that uses a wheelchair for mobility, sometimes I suffer from “skin breakdown“ which is similar to diaper rash in that you don’t want either. When your skin breaks down, it might start peeling away like you would get when you have a bad sunburn after a while, the burn starts to heal, and as the skin peels a way to get you a new skin barrier underneath, it can really itchy and caused a lot of problems so your body wants to counter the edge by trying to allow the skin to peel away so that new skin can show through. When you have peeling skin or itchy skin, it can be really really really bad sometimes. But your skin is a protective measure, and you must take care of it because you only have one bodily skin. So you must take care of it. Brian Edited November 8 by ~Brian~ Spelling edits 1
le Hollandais Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Proud of my diaper rash? You're kidding, right? Is this a joke? 2
deewet Posted November 9 Posted November 9 As a daily overnight user, I experienced my first Diaper Rash early this summer, that was after more than a year and half of overnight experience. It certainly was not pleasant and carried on for a couple of weeks to some degree before it completely went away. As I result, I am a firm believer of diaper rash cream, the Zinc Oxide 40% variety on a daily basis as part of my evening diapering routine. Worth every penny of the cost, and any time used to get it on!!! 2
Spanky Posted November 15 Posted November 15 I have a fantasy thing for diaper discipline. So, sometimes I do get a diaper rash. Part of my punishment, so to say. Good behavior earns diaper changes and bad behavior leads to extended stays in wet and messy diapers. Don't know if I'd exactly call it being proud of a diaper rash, but I do intentionally wear diapers for an extended period of time to get a diaper rash. My skin is pretty tough and I usually don't get much irritation. Even though I hardly ever use any cream or ointment. My worst diaper rash ever was when I stayed in the same wet and messy diaper for over 36 hours. I wore a contoured cloth diaper that I peed and pooped in and a disposable diaper on over that. I only changed the disposable diaper when it was soaked. Being wet and messy for over 36 hours, with no cream, really gave me a good diaper rash. It was definitely painful. My intention was to give myself a good paddling on my diaper rashed bottom, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. It was painful, for sure. 2
tommyneedsdiapers90 Posted November 15 Posted November 15 If anything I'm proud of the fact I've only gotten diaper rash once in the 20ish years I've been in diapers 3

Poopydiaper91 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 I have a diaper rash right now and I’m not proud of it or ashamed of it. I am treating it with Lil Ilhes diaper paste. I did go to the pharmacy to get some help with treating it. They told me to put a steroid cream on it along with the rash cream. 1
Snugglebear_69 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Nope, if I had diaper rash it would suggest my Daddy isn't changing me often enough so absolutely wouldn't be proud of having a diaper rash. 1
dlnoir Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Nope I hate diaper rash. If it gets really bad it might mean I have to go without a diaper which is a big no no 1
foreverdl Posted November 18 Posted November 18 The only way it ever helped me, was to have my dermatologist look at my private parts, and now I get full strength hydrocortisone oint for it, and the nice part is my ins covered it . 1

Im with you on this. I have at least two tubes of hydrocortisone cream on my dresser all the time. I cant stand having a rash and if its too bad I sometimes just skip the diaper and wet the bed the old fashioned way. 1

Mine is a much higher ointment , the ointment stays on my skin hours longer than the cream also. But I get a small tub of it every month free. so I am stocked up for now. 1
Cute_Kitten Posted Friday at 05:12 PM Posted Friday at 05:12 PM Diaper rash is not pleasant at all. It's one of the downsides of diapers. Just my opinion. 1

Little_Mouse Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I don't like diaper rash. It is uncomfortable and hurts.
