Gold!

I don't get people that horde gold in case of a breakdown in society. Gold won't feed my family, or keep us warm. And if I had food and was offered gold for it, what use would that gold be to me? Better to keep the food.

Seems it would be better to stockpile canned/canning goods; unmodified vegetable and grain seeds, and other items for day to day survival.

It may have a place for bartering but then will it make you a target. As for the rest way ahead of you brother. Got a well, a one year stockpile that we rotate, two years wood for heat and most importantly GOD.

You will be amazed by how many people its out there that would trade food for gold, cause gold might be worth something at some point.

If you have a stockpile of food, never announce you have it, and never show it to anyone.
If anyone ask, say you have enough for a few days.

DOOMSDAY PREPPERS! LOL!??? But seriously, food would be way more valuable than gold, that's the REAL currency. That actually reminds me of Y2K, and how people used to go out shopping like it was the end of the world. Boy, people were all stocked up on food! They had MREs and things you could cook very easily with just water, what a waste of money that was. Looking back, it was VERY funny!????????♥️?

You don't even have to go back that far.  Just look at what happened at the start of 2020 with the COVID.  We were supposed to be shuttered for 2 weeks... so people bought enough TP to last 5 to 10 YEARS!!!!!  Or leading up to any storm (hurricane, snow, whatever).  People go absolutely bonkers and lose all semblance of sanity and intelligence.  How much bread/milk/TP/peanut butter DO YOU POSSIBLY NEED FOR A FEW DAYS..... DAYS -_ NOT WEEKS OR YEARS!

Weeeell not so much doomsday but economic and or infrastructure  break down. The foods we have are commonly used so they get consumed and replaced. I work in a field I consider economically sensitive. We manufacture what I consider a "luxury " item. I am actually surprised we have not suffered more than our "softening" of orders. So apocalypse? Prolly not. But I'm ready for "inconvenient disruption " including my little self LOL ?. Now I'm gonna stop this is too much adult talk when I'm here LOL. ? ????

@DailyDi

I don't understand that either, other than the fact that apparently if you are dealing with gold, and you keep it as gold, it means that it is a lot more valuable Then the dollar, but basically i've learned from experience that it just sounds like Wall Street seems to always have ups and downs. If someone says this stock is going up common, then everybody ends up going to buy that stock, if somebody says something bad about a company, that stock goes down or tanks! it's almost like someone saying yes you did no you didn't, yes you did no you didn't I nauseam all the time! the stock market is volatile and is something that seems to always be at the root of our economy, but just because somebody says something about the economy, that doesn't necessarily mean that the dollar is going to crash, and I would rather have the food like Mikey said, and the ability to be able to live in my house and be able to have warm clothes and warm beds and everything else that I need. mike and I have one thing in common, being that we live on fixed incomes, we have to be careful what it is that we buy, how much of it that we buy, where we buy it or when we buy it. we also have to make sure that we can fix things that breakdown, or that we can pay for our grocery bills or that we can deal with our medical supplies or if we have to somehow manage our websites.

I don't understand one thing: if the world is so bent on gold as the standard for everything, why is it that people threaten that the Value of the dollar is going to tank: I mean, let's put it this way: the United Kingdom had some sort of austerity measure where they were trying to help people, and this former UK prime Minister (Liz Truss) apparently single handedly tanked United Kingdom's economy simply because she wanted to help people be able to deal with high oil and gas prices and other things. All of us have to be able to heating oil gas groceries and other things: the problem that I have is that for example let's say I get $988 a month, well let's say Mike gets 1088, and that means he gets $100 more I do for an example. Mikey may need the 100, and I might need the 100 as well, but he would get the 100 if for some reason his Social Security went up, and that is because of the cola the cost of living adjustment. the coal was there really strange because in my opinion, every person that is on disability should have a base social Security amount of $1000: the reason I say that is because I have been on the system since I was 17 And now I am 50 years old, and I still have not hit the $1000 threshold after all these years being on the system, even when I started on Social Security income and then I moved to Social Security Disability. Sure, I got more when I got my disability, but I only got like $20 more, and that was set based on which parent made the most money, and it wasn't based on whether ford gas whether we can afford food whether we can afford to rent, and the problem is that most people who deal with the medical portions that pay their own medical costs, end up getting let's say $1200, and let's say your Medicare premiums cost you$45.00, so that means you end up getting a raise for example let's say $100, and your Medicare premiums are $50, so you only get a $50 raise, and automatically, it's gone or pretty much eliminated because the cost of something has gone up so that means you automatically lose your raise.

I just wish that someone would decide that the best thing to do is to help as many people as they can. We all know that the United States or any other country has their problems and their fiscal issues that they have to deal with period the problem is is that for example let's say Had served his country in the Navy. he spent his time and he served his country, and when he comes home the expectation is is when he needs medical care someone will help him take care of that, at the VA or somewhere else. someone else that may serve his country here on daily diapers for example should have the same rights if they serve their country and they need matter need medical coverage, but I think some people forget that for every dollar that they raise our benefits they lower it because every time our benefits go up medicaid premiums go up or Medicare premiums go up So you get a $20 raise for example, and $18.00 of Medicare premiums go up colin that doesn't give you too much of a raise, and I'm afraid that eventually the Social Security Administration will run out of money because nobody in the Republican Party will want to do anything for the Democrats, they keep on harping on the Democrats did this the Democrats did that, the Republicans don't want to take responsibility for anything because they have been trumpized: trump doesn't take responsibility for anything, anything so you can get away with everything, and I'm not trying to make this political, but when you're dealing with old, or any standard, and you're dealing with being able to live from day to day or from months to month, you have to be able to the fact that if you can't work because of a disability, you need the help of the government, but the government sometimes forgets that their job is to do as they're supposed to, and help as many people as they can, and not worry about all of their agendas: I wanna make sure that people like my dad my mom myself and other people that I love are taken care of, because if they spent time in the service and they protected my booty, so that I can be able to say do think or believe what I do here in the United States, they deserve the ability to think that they can be taken care of in an appropriate manner. the best way to do that is to make sure that everybody can live comfortably, without having to worry that something is gonna go up $30 and then $28.00 of your raises eaten up by a stupid thing like that.

I'm not sure what will happen, but I hope that somebody will understand that the only way people would be able to live in this world without worrying about poverty is to allow people to live with enough money so that they won't be deciding whether they want to eat or whether they want their medicine or whether they want something else that they need, because that's half of the problem period that's why in the United States part D Medicare exists: in other countries such as Scotland or Australia, they have the NHS, and they take care of things that you Need to comment i'm not sure how that works, but I'm sure that there are ways for people like for example that are disabled to get nappies and other things they need on a monthly basis just like I do here in the United States: it's different, but everybody can get what they need if they're able to prove it.

I wish that they would just decide that everybody needs to be able to live comfortably, and they take care of the people in their country: what I fear is that eventually things will be so expensive, that we won't be able to afford to live in the United States, in certain states are more expensive to live in than others, and then what will end up with is a whole bunch of people who will move from state to state because the cost of living is too expensive in a particular state, where it might be cheaper to live in another part of the country. in Vermont for example, we have to pay for our heating oil and our gas and all of this, and we end up living in the cold for at least six months, and we have to either burn wood burn oil or coal or whatever we do, and it does get expensive. gas gets expensive, and food gets expensive. things get brought in from other states from all the way from California sometimes too, and I can't imagine that that's gonna be cheap either.

I wish that this administration would fix this so that everybody can get whatever they want and whatever they need within reason, without having to worry about the cost of something that they need skyrocketing. for example if Mikey and I were alive and able to drive in 1960, probably the price of gas would be about what maybe a dollar a gallon, so it might cost him $60.00 to fill a tank comment by but now it cost over 170 for example for @spoonchicken to fill up his van with gas! that's why it makes me nervous, everything will get so expensive no one will be able to afford to live here, because everybody has been worrying about things that don't really matter, and when the economy is so bad or when we have a problem with inflation and all of this, we're not solving the problem by making us pay more and more and more and more, but we're not getting ahead either, because when we get a raise we're not getting enough to be able to live on: this is part of the reason why everybody should be getting one particular check, meaning that everybody gets $1000 base pay carmen then you add your Social Security to that thousand, and if anyone thought of that, I bet you people wouldn't have to be going from to check, scraping the bottom of the barrel and living in a situation where they can barely make ends meet: i've learned from my parents for example that you have to be frugal, and I try to be as well, but there certain things that I like and sometimes I have to do it myself, and I try to do the best I can, but with cost of food gas and everything going up, it's quite difficult to do it, but it is not impossible

So let's hope that during the next two years or so, that everybody figures a way to work together!  We have a situation here where people need to be able to get halfway decent food halfway decent gas and everything else and be able to afford it: Able to make so that everybody can afford to live where they are living, and be able to have halfway decent jobs. if everyone had a halfway decent job, or could get a job when they wanted it, it would be kind of neat, because no one would want for anything 'cause they'd be able to work hard. In my case I have to create the job that I can do for myself, or create it to help somebody else, because people sometimes think that because they're disabled you can't do anything: **** that's ridiculous! I am a webmaster and I've been doing it for years, i've also done stuff on Linux machines for years, and I've fixed computers and all the software and things on the machines for years, and people think that I'm pretty good at what to do, but they don't wanna pay me very good because they think that having a disability is a liability to them, and unfortunately because the law says that you can't say we why are you because you're disabled, they would say we you because we don't like that you like the Red Sox for example, and that's the reason they use, but they can't say the reason is due to a disability, or they'd be in a lot of trouble!

i'm approaching my 51st year, and I know that it's hard sometimes to find appropriate work and be able to be in your chosen field: to find the job that would make sense to me, and I made my resume the type of resume that would show that I had the experience, but nobody wanted to hire me for jobs, so they ended up knocking my resume down taking things off of my resume so all I could get was entry level jobs. Part of the reason why I like my job now is because I am in control of what I do it where I do it and how I do it, within reason, and I don't have to prove anything to everyone or anyone, cause I already have period we work together as a team, and that's the important thing. People need to be able to look out for each other make sure we have what we need and make sure that we can afford Get what we want and what we need. I wish for some reason that I could get a couple $1000 a month for example, and that I would be able to pay $300 a month in rent, and still have $1000 in my checkbook by mid month, but Social Security doesn't set it up that way. so I guess I'll just have to dream he he he!

I'm not sure how good gold is, but my brother says that he would put most of his money in gold because that way if the dollar crashes money will be worth something, but basically the reason why our money doesn't apparently mean much is because we're printing more of it, and we don't have a good rate because we are printing way too much of it and that the values the dollar for example.

one of the pastors i watch comments that if you have precious metals you can chip off bits to use  as currency, but that doesnt take into account that  some cant afford precious metals, even if one was allowed to have any(on ssi we aint allowed, not that it matters, cant afford it, we cant even afford a box of 20ga shells this month), i have to agree that food is better to have, and we try to keep food onhand, some survival food that lasts a loooooong time is always good, but you have to rotate regular stock or it will expire. i was sexually active, id stock up of tons of condoms, not to get laid like a porn star but because i think they would be a valuable commodity, at least for the time they dont expire(5 years?) in a disaster i am guessing the last thing anyone wants is to get pregnant due to lack of resources, medical care, etc.., an alcohol still wouldnt be bad, IF you know how to make alcohol for disinfection, but i dont know how to do that.

Copper jacketed lead backed by a small amount of gun powder is the next precious metal. Stock up on ammo now.

we try to buy some when we can, we cant hardly find .410 ammo so i broke down and bought a semi auto 20ga, was hoping we could afford a box of shells this month, but nope, at least we have SOME .410 shells, about 150 9mms, and roughly 2k of .22lr

That’s a good start. With the civil unrest that might be coming very soon when the diesel runs out and everything comes to a stop, you will need as much ammo as you can get.

Gold,silver,copper,platinum, aluminum,iron ect

Its as good as money. Can use it to feed your family as it can obtain food and the things you need. I've used it as a second stimulus check for when the economy went south since thats where i put my savings in.

And for some odd reason, i see diapers joining those metals ranks as money after seeing how they gain in value like the metals do

@Cute_Kitten

I agree with this sentiment: I also worry that the government itself Is part of the problem period all through 2016, we were talking about having things change and have everything new, because people were sick of the way the government was working. Then comes Donald Trump, and his new way of doing things. soon after, we found out that the guy is somehow believing things that aren't true, and is living in his own reality, and thinking that everything is fake news, or that what he believes is right is right regardless of what the situation says, and he can get away with anything. He single handedly desperateized the entire cabinet before he left office, because then President Biden wouldn't have anybody available in any of their positions when he left, because he fired everyone. Then he tried to sabotage the Pentagon by telling them things that They should support something that they shouldn't comment and there's a whole bunch of other things that make this crazy.

I'm not trying to be political here, but government is crazy. If Donald Trump ever becomes present and again, and I hope he never does, he stated unequivocally that the first thing he is going to do is remove all of the agencies that would be able to stop him from doing something, like all of the checks and balances. A president or anyone in government should be held accountable for whatever they do, that's why they have these checks and balances in place. if he tries again to sabotage the government, we will have a major problem because everybody will think Donald Trump is the best things in sliced bread, but we already know that Donald Trump is not the best at doing many things, except for one thing lying and trying to think that he is right and making conspiracy theories and telling people to drink things that they shouldn't be drinking.

I also worry about the government because you have two sides, democrats and Republicans, and of course we have the independants:  Every time there is a there is an election, you have the Democrats attacking the Republicans the Republicans attacking the Democrats and the independents in the middle. I know that people like to go through election cycles and they like to tell people the way it is and tell people that somebody believes something another person believes something else, and then it goes on and on. when I go through a cycle I always try to listen to both sides of the race and find And find out who I think would be the better candidate. I doubt Donald Trump is going to be the best candidate for 2024, because we need stability, and we need to be able to know that the person we're putting at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave is going to be somebody that we can trust! right now for Donald Trump if he was the last person living on Earth! there are better things to worry about, and one of the things I want to make sure happens is our government works.

I'd rather not see armed riots and insurrection in the streets! the reason why it gets this bad is because people think that the government is not listening and they don't care! I don't want to see the Republicans turning around and saying that the Democrats are this or the Democrats are that in certain fight, and not listening to the people and not taking care of business. I wanna see people getting along if possible in taking care of the people that put them there in office, rather than to worry about their radical left right positions, and try to fight and sound like everybody is an enemy, or that president Biden is a this or that or whatever. I don't want to see a president lying through his teeth and getting away with murder because he is the president: eventually people will pay for whatever they do. if I did something wrong on daily diapers, I might be able to get away with it for a while, but eventually mikey would catch on, and he might decide that I need to be punished! I wouldn't be able to get away with it for too long, because He would catch me!

my question is if everybody else in government is supposed to follow the rules, and they're subject to the rules regulations and punishments under the constitution, why isn't it the same for one man, who happens to be a millionaire? Why do we have to worry about the world falling apart because people can't get along. we need to make sure that we're taking care of our economy inflation homelessness poverty, and the fact that people on disability for example are living paycheck to paycheck, just like everybody else, but the problem is we don't get enough of a raise to be able to take care of the difference in what things costed a year ago versus what they costed two years ago Versus what they cost now. gas and oil and everything else are going through the roof, groceries are ridiculously expensive, people don't have jobs, some people can't get jobs, even though we have a lot of them available after the pandemic. Is the world that bad comment that we can't just say enough is enough, let's get it done?

I'm going to use the show the example here: let's say we had three or four people that mikey was dealing with as his admin team: there were four or five people that were fighting: these four people would be would be saying something like yes it is no it isn't yes it is no it isn't when we're talking about something being true or false, then eventually mikey might have to step in, or one of his admins might have to step in, and one of them may not agree, and everybody else may agree, but the point here is is that we try to take care of a situation before it blows up to the point where it can't be salvaged! there is no situation that is so bad that it can't be made worse, but there is no situation where something cannot be worked out, even if that workout means that someone may have to leave or something may happen. The problem with our government is everybody is ready to go to World War three and try to kill everybody, we have people that are getting shot every day for stupid reasons, people are being locked away in jails because of that, and we have people with mental problems because of the pandemic and because of the long lockdowns and everything else.

Why did I bring politics into this: the reason is we have situations that we need to take care of. It is up to our government and the people that put these idiots in office to be able to instill in them that they have a responsibility to take care of the American people. they should not be worrying about their right or left agendas, they should not be fighting in the Congress between the two of them like 2 year olds and a day care center, and they should always make sure That they're doing things the right way, and legal like. donald Trump is an example of a gentleman who believes one thing and that's what he believes: his reality is 110% different Than anybody else's reality. my reality says that if we don't get our act together we're going to end up even worse off than we are now, and it won't matter whether we have a Republican or a Democratic controlled house or Senate. they complain about the Democrats running the country for two years, because we now control all houses of Congress and their White House, but they always say that the Democrats didn't do anything for two years, or they were irresponsible for some of this, and it's not really true, because it takes 2 sides to make an argument: let's just put it this way everybody in Congress is like a 2 year old in a day care center, and they will continue to argue until someone steps in and knocks them across the head and tells them to knock it off or they're going to the corner hehehe!

I don't understand why government has to be so darn in responsive or unresponsive call we have a situation here where we need help, and we have two sides that want to argue and fight over who runs the country or who is in charge of the house or the Senate. Sure, elect your leaders and make sure that they understand their responsibilities, but don't end up spending half your time worrying about what side you're going to fight with period when you have a battle of course you're gonna decide Which people are gonna be on your side, and you're gonna fight for what you think is right. government is broken because they refuse to listen to reason, and make reasonable decisions. we don't even have a middle ground any more, it's either way to the left or way to the right. I wish that we could go back to the 60s or the maybe even the 50s when at least you could talk to both sides and make a decision. sometimes I think that it is almost like @DailyDi is the guy standing in the middle of the capital in the chamber, and you have a bunch of people arguing so he has to take the gavel and pound the table and then send people to the corner because they can't get along and they can't do anything to help people!

everybody has, or everybody should have the right to vote and does. We all understand that our votes count, and I want our country to work to the best of its ability, and not be in a state of civil unrest because the idiots like Donald Trump who try to upturn the apple cart and try to change everything all at once, and then we end up with civil unrest we have people getting shot in the streets and we have riots. I have never understood why we have major riots all over the cities especially in New York City karma where somebody ha has to be afraid that someone's gonna knock on their door and possibly kill them! the reason why we get this bad is because government is not listening to anything anyone says, and the reason why we're having trouble is because no one cares about what really matters!

I want to see everybody housed, I wanna see everybody fed, I wanna see everybody that wants a job get a job, and I wanna see an economy that supports the people that are working and being able to give them the benefits that they need so that they feel secure in their livelihoods. at 50 years old, I want to make sure that if I Cannot have to worry About whether my dad or my mom or my step dad or my step mom or any of my family members will be taken care of when they start getting older. my parents are already in their 70s, and I worry about that and I told my dad that I wanted to make sure that he and his wife were OK we're OK and that they were happy and they were content. I got that confirmation yesterday when speaking to them. everybody in the place that they live at is really cool, they take care of my step mom and my dad, both of them have medical issues, and both of them move there because it was easier for them, and my stepmom needs the 24 hour assistance Of the assisted living floor. I met a lot of good people yesterday, and I believe that the best thing that could happen to them was when they moved there. I worry that however, because of the fighting in the government, that programs like this would end up getting the ax while some stupid program that some idiot decide Talk about gets priority. we need to make sure that people are fed that people are housed that people have jobs and people can live and enjoy themselves, without having to worry that their safety nets are gone because of fiscal irresponsibility. we don't need wars and we don't need unrest, we need reasonable people to understand that people need to work people need to enjoy themselves, and this inflation is just killing the economy.

Let's put it this way when Liz Truss was elected prime minister of the United Kingdom, after Boris Johnson resigned, it was because of things that were causing strife in the UK. he had done some things that he shouldn't have done in the throes of the pandemic, and everybody was upset about that. I would be too if I was a person that lived in the United Kingdom, and somebody ends up making rules and then violate to them. Liz Truss was elected prime minister, and then within a month and a half had single handedly apparently crashed the entire United Kingdom economy because of austerity measures She she and others wanted to try to do come and help people. When it is so tough to be able to work and so tough to be able to earn a living because of the current situation, the best thing that we can do is work together. mikey would say the same thing: we all have to try to get along even if we don't agree: that has been one of the things I always try to do, but I can't understand why this government can't just decide OK we're here to help people we're gonna throw away all of this ridiculousness and get down to work! I have very strong opinions about our government, but I won't post any more here on this on this subject: it is time for this government to throw away all of this fighting back biting and ridiculousness and get back to what needs to be taken care of, or we will have unrest and have people that are causing trouble in the streets come and we already have people getting shot and hurt. we need to put an end to this and bring back the America that was there 20 years ago: at least then we didn't have to worry about people getting shot in the street every five minutes, or turning on the news and finding out something else has happened in America.

I am proud to be an American: i've always been an American and I've always supported my country, but sometimes I think that when we vote, our votes really don't count, and one of the things I want to make sure is that we never have to return to an era where the president is in his reality, and our reality is totally different than his. we need a government that works, and we need a country country that can trust what it is that people are doing, and the trust has been busted because of stupidness on both sides of the aisle, because people just can't get along and do what they need to do.

I don't know: maybe Mikey should put all these idiots in the corner and punish them: But of course, congress isn't gonna be punished, they just get away with everything!

money should not be something that we worry about, but we always do, and food is something that we need all the time, Along with gas and heating oil and all of this stuff. this inflation has really been causing issues for people that need to be able to live. even things that I buy are more are more expensive, and I don't think, in a nation like ours, that we should have to worry about people Not having enough to eat, not having enough jobs or whatever. however, that is what we are dealing with, and hopefully people will work together so that that is not an issue, but I don't have very high hopes for this!

That’s a good start. With the civil unrest that might be coming very soon when the diesel runs out and everything comes to a stop, you will need as much ammo as you can get.

I really wouldn't worry about a diesel shortage.  Don't forget that both the US and Canada have vast oil reserves.  We both have the ability to refine our own petroleum products so diesel isn't going to go away any time soon.  It might be tough to fuel up your diesel cars and trucks but the big heavy movers like trains and semi trucks will keep moving.

We can always go electric like California tried to do with their vehicles. ? Then again, after banning the sale of non-electric vehicles, didn't they also temporarily ban charging electric vehicles? Nvm, nothing can go wrong. Everything will be fine. Now, I'm gonna go stock up on diapers, TP, and Twinkies. And figgy pudding spam can never have enough spam.

California's ban on the sale of gas vehicles doesn't take place for another 12 years.  I am optimistic that technology will have advanced enough that e-vehicles will be much easier to buy and to own by then.

California should be investing in their electrical grid.  They need to fortify it against climate change and they need to invest in alternative electrical production.  Also...nuclear remains a viable option IF people can get over their fear of it.

As someone who works in that industry (green energy and energy efficiency, and we're getting into EV charging infrastructure) I can tell you that CA is definitely investing in their grid, but they're also investing in de-stressing their grid with net-zero building tech across all sectors.  Lot of other western states are doing likewise.

Doomsday prepping only works if you already live outside cities.
If the nukes don't kill you, then people with guns will.

Get solid doors that open outwards.
Most American doors are paperthin and open inwards, easy to kick in, and the rest has glass in them.
