  1. Good luck. A UTI doesn’t necessarily have to hurt. I’ve heard of stealth infections. The ones I’ve had haven’t hurt, but I did run a high fever.
  2. If it’s a one off event, I wouldn’t be too concerned. Since women are more prone to UTIs than men, that would be a possibility. Seeing a doctor is a good idea. You may need just a quick course of antibiotics to solve the problem.
  3. It sounds to me like your bladder isn’t emptying completely. That’s not a good thing and can lead to urinary tract problems. If this is happening on a regular basis, I’d recommend talking to your doctor about it. An ultrasound could determine if there is a problem.
  4. You could try using an adult urine deflector (aka splash guard). I used them for several years until I began wearing diapers 24/7 and became totally incontinent. They work and are much easier to clean than the floor and toilet. It also brought back childhood memories.
  5. I’m one of those older males that my earlier description applies to. Lowered testosterone and blood pressure medications have reduced my male equipment to prepubescent size. Aiming isn’t even possible.
  6. For many older men, aiming is not a practical consideration. Aging adult males and infant males frequently have more in common physically than just their need for diapers. Low testosterone levels affect both anatomies in the same way.
  7. I've never found a disposable that works well at night. In order to keep a disposable from leaking, I'd need to wear a pull-up diaper over the disposable diaper and then waterproof pants over the whole works. Cloth works best for me, since I frequently sleep on my stomach or sides and periodically switch positions during the night.
  8. I wet the bed (while diapered) until I was about 10 years old. I don’t have any specific memories of daytime accidents. However, i urgently needed to pee approximately hourly. During school, the first thing I did during class breaks was head for the lavatory. In order to prevent daytime accidents, I was frequently diapered until until I was 15-16 years old anytime I couldn’t get to a toilet hourly, like on shopping trips and long car trips.
  9. I have my iPod plugged into my van and listen to the music there. If out hiking around, I’d prefer to listen to the sounds of nature. My taste in music tends to run in the 60s and 70s CW, folk, and western music with some Celtic, bluegrass, and bagpipe music for occasional seasoning.
  10. I spend too much time in front of a computer or on my iPad, too. I often sit cockeyed or on one leg to keep my diaper from blocking the urethra and preventing my bladder from emptying. Around the house, I normally wear cloth diapers and use disposable diapers when I’m out. Cloth gets uncomfortable sooner so I have a better sense of the state of my diapers.
  11. That takes a lot a practice. I used to do it when I was a kid. One of my chores as a kid was washing dishes. While doing the dishes, I’d try wetting my pants just a little; wetting just enough to make my underwear wet without it showing on my jeans. It was kind of a game of chicken with myself. How far could I go before what I was doing became obvious? Sometimes I experienced the problem you have. I’d lose control and empty my bladder entirely. When that happened, I’d “accidentally” splash water down my front to hide the accident. With practice, you can achieve the level of control you’re looking for. You should know that this strengthens your bladder control and will make it far more difficult to achieve incontinence, if that is your ultimate objective.
  12. I would say you are making progress. When you actually are incontinent, there isn't all that much feeling of urgency. When you stand up, your bladder empties. Sitting for a long time can be uncomfortable because your bladder is being forced to hold more than it normally would if the urethra wasn't being mechanically blocked. I find myself squirming in my chair occasionally or leaning to one side to relieve the pressure. One way is get dressed with “normal” underwear and go someplace public for 3-4hours. If you uncontrollably wet your pants, you’re incontinent. Personally, I’m not into public humiliation. After several days of wetting my diapers and having no memory of doing it, that’s when I concluded that I was bladder incontinent. There were days that I’d be working in the yard, around the house, and even out shopping when, after several hours, it would occur to me that I hadn’t felt the need to urinate or even felt myself going. I’d check my diaper fully expecting it to be dry and discover that it was very wet. That’s when I called myself incontinent.
  13. Yes. Why would you try to stop your bladder from emptying? Sitting, particularly while wearing a diaper, pinches the urethra and prevents the bladder from emptying. When you stand, that blockage is removed. Also, the internal organs press down on the bladder giving you the sudden urge to go.
  14. I can confirm that events like these do happen. I was a caregiver for my father and he did wet and mess during a diaper change. It was extremely frustrating to have him nearly cleaned up and about to put a fresh diaper on him only to have him make another mess in the middle of the change. I’ve also had it happen while changing myself. My bowels have emptied while was fastening a clean diaper. I’ve also leaked during a diaper change.
  15. I'll be very interested in what your research finds concerning the 'non-sexual, non-regressive preference for diapers'; of particular interest would be the age distribution. Intuitively, I'd suspect that individuals my age would be a minority because disposable diapers did not exist when I was young. Cloth diapers put such an extra load on the parents, that most parents attempted to get their kids out of them as soon as possible. In addition, cloth diapers are sufficiently difficult to conceal that peer pressure would likely force older kids and teenagers not to wear them. My situation was probably unique and my parents possibly too permissive. With today's disposable diapers, older kids and teenagers could continue wearing them as long as they wanted to with minimal extra workload on the parents. The expense might be a consideration, though. In addition, modern disposable diapers are so easily concealed that peer pressure would not be a significant consideration. Given those observations, I would expect the number of individuals falling into category 4 to be increasing and correlated to the invention of disposable diapers. It will be interesting to see if the data bears that out.
  16. The post void dribbling was one of the early indicators that I was starting to become incontinent. I would dribble for 30 minutes or more, especially if I’d held a too full bladder for too long.
  17. How did you become incontinent? If you read my profile, you’ll see that I voluntarily did it to myself. Ever since I was a kid, I thought of diapers as just another form of underwear and preferred them to the societally approved alternatives. That’s exactly what diapers are, just underwear. Once you accept that, you can lead a quite normal life.
  18. Virtually every forum I frequent has missing content. Many posts have one line or a line and a half when the sentence ends mid thought. Many times, the quote is there, but the following comment is gone.
  19. I’m glad to hear that. I was beginning to think that I was the only DL who fell into that new category.
  20. You don't have to convince me that the compulsion to wear diapers is frequently a deep-seated psychological need. For years, I tried to give them up, before finally giving in to the compulsion and effectively making myself incontinent. Now, I wear diapers all the time and am quite content with my situation. You'll notice that instead of giving a simple answer to someone's question, I frequently start by asking questions. Without some background information about the questioner, it's impossible to provide relevant advice or answers. My feeling is that at the OP’s current age that he may have options available to him that an older DL might not find useful. I believe that if, at his age, I had had the option of wearing diapers as just another form of underwear to be worn under certain circumstances, that I may not have taken the more extreme path I did.
  21. Before trying to give an answer, I'd like to know what you mean by "taking over your life" and "calming it down"? How do you use diapers when you wear them? Are diapers just another form of underwear for you or do you feel a compulsion to wet and/or mess them? What is your living situation? Do you live by yourself or with others? Are you employed and able to afford to wear as many diapers as necessary? Would there be significant repercussions if your employer were to find out that you're wearing diapers? There are several good suggestions above, but their applicability would depend on how you answer these questions. As counter-intuitive as it might seem, going 24/7 for a period of time might be just the way to "calm things down." After a while, you'll reach a saturation point when wearing diapers just isn't fun anymore. Then you could put them away for a while until you feel the compulsion to wear them again. Then you could experiment with wearing them for short periods of time and going without the rest of the time. If you're lucky, you'll find a combination that satisfies the compulsion without feeling the need to wear them all the time.
  22. The only reason to be irritated about is if manufacturers assume their primary clientele are the elderly and base the diaper designs on their requirements (lack of mobility, caregiver convenience, and Medicare reimbursement). That’s what has given us diapers like Prevail, Depends, and the others diapers that require changing every 2-3 hours. For the most part, we have to import European products to get diapers suited to active non-geriatric adults.
  23. Mine is not having the discomfort of a full bladder.
  24. I think the most concise, descriptive reason I could have given in years past
