I wasn't that happy with the Gary PUL pants over cloth nappies. I always felt that they transmitted a little bit of moisture once they were (thoroughly, cloth-wet) underneath and also I found the crotch to be too narrow at the inner thighs for cloth. The elastics would either expose wet cloth or ride up into the "wet" zone and wick moisture. The simple Gary high-waist plastic pants work better. The "euroflex" (clear) version that @Stroller mentioned work just as well and last a lot longer it seems however I find them VERY noisy to wear. Forget about sneaking home from the pub late at night. I find plastic pants need to be over-sized to ensure good nappy coverage and stop any wet nappy sneaking out. Over my 60" folded terries I usually wear the 2XL. My natural size would probably be "L" or maybe "XL" depending on brand. I haven't noticed any downside to wearing slightly too-big plastic pants unless you count fashion 🤣 As for a smaller terry square, you can try one and see what you think. I'm a big unit (although getting smaller currently) so I just use the 60" x 60". Also I can adjust folds to make a bigger nappy scale down but I can't so easily scale up a smaller one. I'm not sure which brand you have. I use the "Babykins" ones. With these, the inner terry pant is only sewn to the plastic pant at the waist, allowing it to be flipped out from the plastic pant to assist with drying. They're still slow to dry but as I said, I only use them over night disposables for bed-insurance. I've had reports from our Canadian agents however that they can be easily destroyed in a tumble dryer. It's not cheap. Assuming you're using Littles Downunder, his prices are a lot sharper if you shop in person. That's tough from Victoria but about a 50 minute drive for me. I've toyed with investing in an overlocker and simply making terry squares but retail terry towelling is expensive and the savings looked marginal. That's before having to attempt to explain to my beloved why I've bought a sewing machine. If it wasn't for airline luggage limits, you could almost make that fiscally work 🤣 Actually, winter up here has been unusually damp and grey - especially where I am right on the coast (south easterly winds blowing endless showers off warm seawater). Drying anything has been tough. We cracked this year and bought a heat pump dryer but not for nappies (well, allegedly not but it's seen a few). ps: I tried the "Jo fold". I knew about this but for some reason never had. Your comment about it made me decide to experiment. I'm sitting in my wet-but-very-comfortable night Jo-fold terry now. I'll try it again tonight but based on night #1, it does offer some advantages. -
