  1. 1. Do you like wetness indicators on a diaper?

    • Yes, I prefer diapers that have them, or, my caregiver does.

    • I don't mind them but they're not a necessary feature - I'm neutral on it.

    • I don't like them because they tell anyone who sees my diaper that I'm wet.

    • I just don't like the way they look, they remind me of medical diapers.

    • I wear cloth diapers, this doesn't apply to me.

Some diapers have 'em, some diapers don't... wetness indicators. They seem to be valued by some people on the ABDL spectrum, because they're often touted in a product's features list. For medical diapers, they make complete sense, since ideally you don't want to have to disturb someone unduly in order to check on the status of their diaper. But, sometimes I get a bit self-conscious about wearing diapers that have prominent wetness indicators; something subtle, like disappearing stars, is fine, but when pale yellow road markings down the center of my diaper turn into angry, dark green smears, I feel like they're waving a flag in front of my wife that says "your husband's bottom is damp." Also, the Pampers of my youth did not have them, although I know that most modern baby diapers do. So, I'm curious as to where everyone else is on the tattletale markings.

I don't pay any attention to them as "wet" doesn't mean time to change wet.

@DailyDiapers

I would agree, sometimes I think that the only reason for a wetness indicator is to allow a caregiver to know when you're wet, lest they have to grab onto your diaper and squeeze to determine whether it is wet. I don't mind them as much, but to me just like you said if it's wet, and you see it in your wetness indicator that does not necessarily mean that it is wet enough to change. Medicare requires nursing homes apparently to change residents every two hours or so, and that's probably why they use cheaper diapers because they can get away with it. They would go back to having quality diapers that actually work well, and I'm glad I have my mega maxes because if I didn't I'd be in trouble: I actually won that fight and I don't have to worry about it anymore the state will continue everything the way it was when it comes to my incontinence supplies, my allergy meds my vitamin D and anything that has to do with supplements that are not prescribable are not covered anymore.

I'm pretty neutral about them. That said, I do like indicators that are part of the theme of the diaper. Fading stars, paws, etc. add to the overall effect.

Mee too something about getting rid of rearz lettering or getting rid of the aliens feels like completing a task how ever I only change when there a leak or I can feel one coming

I really don’t have any need for them my daddy said he doesn’t need them as not always a wet diaper needs changing plenty of times I have been called in for a check and told that they are not to be changed and even at work I normally get told that they are good for the rest of the shift by the phone holder.

On my own diapers, or on the baby look adult diapers (like rears etc where they are subtle like missing charachters or new charahters appearing) I really don't care about them, but from a medical perspective, I think that they are a marketing ploy that in care homes, some people take them as a need to change.

I have often gone into a medical setting where my diapers are exposed for an exam etc where I am wearing only a diaper and socks., where my diapers could be slightly damp but the wetness indicators are screaming, and having to explain to some over protective nurse that the diaper does not need changing.

Imagine the scenario, the diapers are damp and exposed (as normal since I dribble), and this young nurse / doctors assistant comes over to me and in a patronising manner, talking down to me as if I was a toddler / baby who needs a grown up to change diapers etc.. It is enough to make me cringe. They tend to run when I bark back at them OR the specialist comes in and talks to me at a level normally higher than their training. At certain doctors appointments, I tend, for fun, to wear the most babyish diaper I can find plus a toddler onesie etc, usually one from Rears etc. It is almost sadistic pleasure seeing these people mind explode as they percieve me to be an infant / person with mental disturbance and treat me as such until they hear the specialist and I converse. 😋

The real issue is that the wetness indicator on diapers were original put there to signify a diaper is wet enough to need changing, and for assistance in care homes with paitents. This created, in some care homes, a process where when the wetness indicator shows, the paitent should be changed. Following that process creation, manufactures increased the sensitivity of these wetness indicators to such an extent that in some diapers, they appear even if there is a little humidity in the air OR someone shows the diaper a picture of water. The reason - so that more diaper changes are envoked AND more diapers are bought / used. After all, urine is caustic and a person in a wet diaper will disolve into nothingness. <SARCASM.

Isn't that the reason a baby diaper can last 12+ hours and said baby never have the wet feeling, cause a wet diaper will wake a sleeping baby <More Sarcasm

Neutral here.  First, I don't have anyone but me who changes my diapers.  Second, I am not disabled and can totally feel when I wet my diapers and I know just how wet they are getting.  I don't need an indicator to tell me my diaper is wet and needs to be checked or changed.  Third, I am a very bright and intelligent verbal person and if I did have someone who changed my diapers, I would be able to tell them I'm wet and need my diaper changed without them having to look at a wetness indicator.  Wetness indicators are for caregivers who's patents are unable to clearly communicate that they need their diapers changed.

My wife likes them. She says it makes checking me easier and depending on what I'm wearing she can check from across the room. My Parents Choice Paw Patrol training pants has a fading badge. Huggies Little Movers and Pampers Swaddlers have a yellow stripe that turns blue...

They are too cute on you. I'm kinda envious that you can fit into sizes 7 and 8 baby diapers, while the rest of us need the larger adult sized ones.

Yes, Becca is one lucky little baby. She may be one of those who has a birth defect that stunts growth, or has been infected with preadolescence disease and adopted by a sweet caring woman - her wife 🥰

I wouldn't call it a birth defect - everyone looks cute when that size - even me (but I may be a little biased)🤪

If we were all that size, getting the baby onesies etc., would be easy.

Thank you, cute is always my goal... I think you would be surprised if you knew how big I really am. As my wife likes to remind me, it's my skinny thighs, no hips and no ass that allows me to wear them...😉

I voted I just don’t like the way they look, they remind me of medical diapers. The weird thing is I mostly wear Better Drys and before I switched from Confidry 24/7’s which are both medical looking. When my dipee is wet you don’t really need a wetness indicator to know. My wife loves loves loves diapers with disappearing wetness indicators, they make her feel so small.

Hugs,

Freta

It would be cool to have the wetness indicator on the front of the diaper be just a plain face.  When it gets wet, the face changes to a big smile on it!

That would be nice, but I'd add to that in that the happy face changes to a sad face when the diaper gets cold. Then the diaper would be functional for an ABDL - who is happy with a warm wet diaper, but needs their diaper changed when the face gets sad OR one of a baby lying down etc.
