Yes, age is just a number, but it also depends on when you start dating. For example, when you were 18 she was 12, probably not a good thing to do. Now when you're 30 and she's 24 it doesn't look so bad. She's 18 and has a lot of growing up to do. If she can't understand that you're not a pedophile then she has some maturing to do. You're best bet is just to walk away and hope she doesn't bring this to anyone's attention.

However, if she is intelligent and interested, perhaps you can direct her to a copy of Freud's "Three Essays on Sexuality" explaining that all adult sexuality has origins in the infantile, and that ABDLs are essentially "stuck" in those earlier phases (called the anal and oral phase). While your statement about the differences is correct, it is cold comfort when you are in court and, in essence, on trial for your life. It is THAT scenario that is being contemplated, not only by people here, either. In the cases I have alluded to, all the people were innocent. It's the "I'm from the government and I'm here to help" syndrome. Hence "away from the rest of us"
