Wet Spots

Recommended Posts

Im not incontinent and love diapers. Im now 67 years old and can hold ok till getting to a toilet, but when im real desperate to go sometimes i cannot help but leaving a wet spot in my underwear, and then i hold real hard till till get to the toilet and just make it. The desperation does not happen very often but when it does Oh my god. Im wondering if its just as you get older these things happen or am i getting weaker in my control as i get older. I don't  want to get incontinent but if it gets worse i may have to go to see a doctor.

@Rachel1: Talk with your doctor, or probably better, talk with your Urologist - concerning prostate (size, etc.).

This is how it started for me. At first it was PMD then leaking when I have to really go, now  I slowly leak through the day. If I take Cialis I can get away with a pad during the day but eventually I get leg pains from it. Without I’m going through 2-3 pull-ups a day. I’ve had a few nights of full on besetting lately so I may have to upgrade protection at night. I really wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

The is an issue that occurs with age - it is the deterioation of muscle mass and/or function.

When it comes to controlling bladder/bowels, we all rely on a ring of muscles called sphincters and rel on them to create a seal. This seal, over time, becomes weak, and scientifically it has been suggested to be diet additives that cause this weakness. The problem with the medical industry addressing this issue is that the is no profit in solving a problem. There is more profit in treating symptoms. As such, there may be a cure, but to get it prescribed to you is like finding hens teeth. Although there may not be a medical intervention that addresses this, still medical intervention is advised as there are more than age that causes bladder/bowel issues.

Therefore, step one in addressing leakage is a medical consult - to rule out any undelying cause. Once that is addressed, then the remaining step is dealing with the leakage - and that can be ignorance in the hope that it will go away - it doesn't - OR accepting that you leak and altering processes so you can still function in this world.

There is a tried and tested process that the world uses to handle leaks - and that is diapers in one form or another.

Welcome to the world of older age, along with a few other issues that will cause continence problems.  I have been to a urologist for several decades now do to a family history of prostrate problems, and have been advised what to expect as I become older.  It started with the day dribbles, or in some cases strong urges to go, and is now becoming bed wetting, so plan for some level of necessary protection, and be happy your problems are not the life-threatening things many others face these days.

My incontinence came after my prostate surgery, wetting my pants all the time. I now wear Depends pull ups full time and no longer worry about it. No one knows I do except my wife and family with and a few friends and no one really cares. You would no longer need to worry about getting to the toilet if you wore a little protection.

I have been 24/7 since 2013. I started to have wet spots back then, so I started to wear to work . Now I have been Medical retirement since 2016, and it really don't matter what I wear....

I have been off the site for a few months due to various obligations and medical issues.  Considering my incontinence is not voluntary, I wish that I was 67 and just started to have issues with leakage!  I am now 61, unfortunately we all keep aging, and first started to notice I was having issues when I was in my late 40's or early 50's. I don't always remember specific dates, but I certainly remember going camping and waking up with a wet sleeping bag, or needing to run to the camp site bathroom a half dozen times during the cold nights.

The simple fact is that we will continue to get worse and worse as we age, and can only hope that we can keep things controlled by medical means or by the use of pullups or diapers. I wear diapers 24/7, and find that instead of peeing all at once, I have a slow leak throughout the day, which is much better than feeling the pressure all day long from trying to hold my pee back!

Yeah I got some incontinence underwear from Carer to help deal with my leaking issues. I have been leaking after going pee for many years and the leaking has increased slowly over the years too. I can't wear regular underwear anymore as I will constantly have wet spots in my pants if I do.

Of course in many situations I just wear diapers as my incontinence has increased too over the years due to prostate issues.
