Do You Keep Your Pacifier In Your Mouth All Night?
Rachel Emily replied to turtlepins's topic in Baby Talk

I chose the name "Rachel Emily" over just "Rachel" precisely because I figured it would be unique. I've yet to see another one here. As far as the name "Kayla" is concerned, that seems to be a more common name these days. Two of my friends happen to have that name.

I voted for bulk, though truthfully I'd prefer a middle ground between "thin medical diaper" and "futon between the legs." Ideally, a good diaper would prevent leaks both during the day and at night (when I can't wear cloth for practical reasons, such as when traveling).

Woke up not only wet, but soaked. I don't think I've ever wet that much in my sleep before.

Myself, mostly, but I get help from my home-health aide every morning, and every evening. (In fact, she's just about due any minute).

I woke up wet, for the first time since the 9th.

Welcome from another Wisconsinite. We share some interests, particularly drawing and anime.

Ugh! It not only looks as if he's got a sagging diaper on, but that it leaked and stained the front of his pants. Why didn't he change before going out? Situations like that are why I always go out wearing a dry diaper.

The effect of wearing 24/7 and incontinence desires
Rachel Emily replied to lalelukid's topic in [DD] Surveys
I started wearing diapers because I was having problems with daytime continence, but didn't start wetting the bed until about four years ago. (After having worn, off and on, since the nineties).- 23 replies

Forgive me if you mentioned this elsewhere, but I'm curious. Why do you dislike cornstarch? I find it clears up rashes far faster than talcum powder does.

I woke up wet, which makes twice in the past week. Looks like I'm settling back into my usual pattern.

I generally lie sideways on my bed, with my legs hanging over the edge. I put the brief/diaper down on the bed, then transfer from my wheelchair. As I'm transferring I try to center myself on the diaper as much as possible before sitting down, then pull it between my legs and tape/pin. In a public restroom, it's a bit more challenging. I'll lay the brief on the wheelchair seat and transfer from the toilet. Once in the wheelchair seat I try to come as close to lying down as I can, then I pull the brief up between my legs and tape it up. Centering can be a good deal harder, since I have so much less room to move around. Invariably I have to adjust the brief an inch or two to the left or right before I can tape it on.

I said that because cloth prefolds for me cost about $30 apiece. I have no sewing machine--no sewing skill, really--so sewing my own is out. The apartment bloc I live in has one small washer for six people, and it can handle only two, maybe three prefold diapers at a time, (Some of my diapers are thicker than others). Any more and they don't get fully clean, and they come out soaking wet (the spin cycle can't handle the amount). That means I have to put them in the dryer longer.

Diapers--Attends disposables during the day, cloth at night. Though to be honest, if it were financially possible, I'd wear cloth 24/7.

An aide assists me with changing when I get up in the morning, and when I get in bed at night, but I do it myself the rest of the time.

Speaking as someone with an aide who helps me change

Hard to say, but I'd guess only once.

I wet because of urge incontinence.

Well, it appears I woke up wet--the first time that's happened since New Year's.
