I really like this story line! I hope you continue with more interesting details soon, as I am anxious to understand how this sorority life works as the years go on!

I have to agree with Stevewet, as my previous urologist (retired now as many of my caregivers are) advised me as I started to have OAB signs, and dribbling that my Type 2 diabetes causes lose of nerve feelings around prostrate, and bladder and that many with my conditions slowly become incontinent which has proven so true for me!

Am I becoming incontinent from wearing a lot?
deewet replied to Goerge's topic in Incontinent-Desires
According to my urologist, I have "severe urge incontinence" and was put on a course of meds at one point to help with this. Went a couple of months trying different drugs, but in the end the only thing that helped, cost ~$300/mo and my insurance would not cover it so am back to going about every 30 minutes in the morning, wearing pads for the day, and diapers at night. Will be seeing my pee doc again in about 3 wks, but told him in past that I am comfortable with protection, so will see what he suggests if anything for going forward. Not sure what he can add as my insurance, Medicare, will not pay for adequate protection products, something like a 12hr use diaper. I can manage the cost of night time protection, but would be challenged on my fixed retirement income to double up on that and something fit for all day use. I hope in the future this changes, as there are many of us older folks around that have developed bladder control problems and have to get products to deal with it, no different than dealing with other health issues, so why does our "required" health coverage choose to ignore these needs??? As long as I am near a toilet, the pads are adequate, but if I am in a car driving, I am using very thick pullups to be safe, but they are not all that easy to deal with if needing a change. Have considered going to a belted heavy pad next, as needed, saving my tabbed diapers for the overnight protection as I like to keep my skin as dry as possible during the day. -
My Journey to becoming a nightly sheet soaker
deewet replied to SoakedSheets's topic in Incontinent-Desires
While being a bedwetter involves a wet diaper most every night, a wet bed is not a necessity. Over a year ago, I had a rough night and wet our bed, not wearing diapers at that point yet. My wife was not happy, and I promised her that I would wear adequate protection at night after that to keep our bed dry and proceeded to find out what that required. I still have issues at night, but have moved into Tena Supers after trying several other options, along with a good pair of waterproof panties over my protection, and can say that short of a few minor leaks, the sheets are dry now in the mornings, and my wife is happy. Every morning or shortly before, as I start to wake, if my diaper is still dry, I just relax, wet , and roll over as I quickly figured out that disposing of a dry diaper makes no sense at all, so when I say that I am wet every morning, it is 100% accurate. When I tested for my choice of night time protection, I looked at not only which product did the best at not leaking during the night in bed, but also which did the best at containing multiple wettings in the morning after getting up and going onto my computer in the morning for 90 minutes or more, and decided on the my current choice as it easily holds 3-4 wettings before disposal. A good choice for the value and performance for me! -
I get a monthly call from a nurse that my GP set me up with under Medicare, and have told her on several occasions that I wear pads during the day and briefs at night due to leakage. IE there is a record on file with my GP as a result. My urologist has been treating me for "severe OAB" as he has acknowledged, but the first meds he provided caused substantial side effects and were discontinued, and the second one's were pretty good, but insurance would not cover them and at $300/mo, were dropped when samples ran out. Will be interesting to learn what he tells me when I return in another month for follow up. I already mentioned I have no concerns about wearing protection. When I go back to my GP again , I will have to tell them what my Urologist told me and what the result of the medication trial was.

I have moved to the Tena products, in the past I have used the ultra's which I found initially at a goodwill store and found them to work well, but more recently have moved to the Super, which is a notch above the ultra style, and currently on sale on Amazon in qty for 0.64 ea delivered in a plain box. Hard to beat this price for this range of absorbance !

Alternate methods or surgeries to achieve incontinence
deewet replied to Squeaky Bearsies's topic in Incontinent-Desires
There is always the untypical route, as an older guy with a history of prostrate issues, the surgery to remove it very often causes incontinence. For someone who has ED as well as the other issue for some time now, loss of the prostrate has no impact to sex life. -
Scientific papers that recommend diaper usage for bedwetting
deewet replied to Bonsai's topic in Bedwetters
Why is it that when data is presented that does not represent one's line of thinking it is called into question? I retired from an engineering position of mannnnny years and can tell you that data can be used to demonstrate many different aspects of the facts, take for instance "global warming" Just saying, I learned to look first at where the data is coming from, and than form my opinion. -
As an old fart with history of prostrate issues, diabetes, and having been diagnosed with sever OAB, it is not hard for me to start wetting, the problem is to keep from wetting when not properly padded or close to a potty. Since I have been diapered for bed for most of a year now, at least being able to avoid getting up for the potty in middle of night has been resolved. Yes, I get up in the morning wet at least half the time, but after getting up every time my diaper gets used.

Well my wife is to the point where she has offered to help me get ready for bed, IE getting diapers on properly and covered apropriatlly. She mentioned a few weeks ago that it was more of a task than she expected, but is glad to help if needed. I am about to take her up on that especially if I have had a few beers prior to and to insure that all protection is as should be prior to jumping into bed. I am not sure if she spotted some evidence of not getting this stuff on properly on the bedding doing laundry over these past weeks or is she is just now understanding what I try to do to keep the bed dry??

Several days ago, I had a bout of some bad food or something, as when working out in the garden, had a sudden urge to go and by the time I got into the house and to the bathroom, I had pooped my panties, and pants not to mention all over the potty seat-not nice as clean up was a challenge and had to tell my wife about my dirty jeans now in the wash. Since that time, I have not been able to go as typical in the morning, so today after another failed attempt feeling quite full, I decided to use a suppository prior to taking my shower after removing my night time diaper. After that I thought, probably should diaper up again, just in case it came on suddenly again? Finished breakfast without any indication things were working, and after another 30 minutes without any results, decided to go out and retrive the trash containers, as it was pickup day in the neighborhood. As I was bringing these back to my house, a cramp got my attention, I stopped and it went away so I continued. By the time I had gotten back to the house with the bins, another cramp hit me and stopped me in my tracks, with a bit of mess already leaving me, I attempted to manage it as I walked stiff legged back to the house. No use, as by the time I got to the door, the diaper was put to the task as a huge mess came out without any help on my part, and filled my diaper to the max. Good thing I thought to put a diaper and waterproof pants on as they kept my jeans from this mess this time. A second shower was had shortly after, and feeling great for now again. That was a feeling I won't forget for a while, standing by my front door while loading up a diaper to the max with no control on my part.

Not much of a leap as in his condition, that would be expected. What happens after he wakes is the guess at this point, but I expect there will be many changes to his life as this is very unusual for sure!!

Having Prostate Surgery Friday April 26.
deewet replied to Baby Toni38's topic in Incontinence - Medical
I had the REZUM procedure done 7-8 yrs ago, similar to what is described here. I too have post dribbling and little to no feeling when I am urinating, but that may be linked to my Type 2 Diabetis issues? Have been going to a urologist on regular basis since, and recently my PSA numbers went above 4 again, so he is watching me closely, suggesting more work on prostrate if it continues. Considering that is most common area for cancer in males, I am not opposed to its removal as am at the age where sex is not so important anymore and I am wearing diapers to bed already with pads during the day, so if my continance gets worse to avoid cancer, that's not a bad tradeoff. -
witch kind of ab/dl story is your favorite?

I like the forced humiliation kind, especially involving the justice system -
wow, what a change I see here. People actually talking about changing weather conditions as opposed to climate change which is all we hear in Mn these days. Quite refreshing I assure you, as when I was younger, that was the daily topic it seemed, but no longer?

While soaking a diaper overnight in bed is common for me these days, leaking onto the bed sheets is not so common but has happened on occasion including last night. Seems my newer size larger diapers were not covered well enough by my waterproof panties, and I leaked out the back a bit before morning. Hope the wife doesn't get too upset as it is almost laundry day in any case. If she mentions something to me, I will tell her that I did my best to get ready for bed, but it was not good enough it seemed. Maybe she will have to start checking up on me before bed time??

I was married already when I purchased my first panties. I traveled a lot with my job, and one week I got this crazy idea to go to a dept store over lunch hour, and buy a package of 4 panties, finding some plain cotton full briefs in my size which were not a small size. To make it more of an adventure for me, I decided to return these to customer service shortly after, telling the clerk that these were not what my wife told me to get, and came back to the desk for an exchange with a package of nylon, colorful panties, with a bit of lace on the waist which I did. The clerk simply smiled at me and said, I see and I hope these make your wife happy and work FOR YOU!

In general the coverage is about as expected. No complaint there. The problem is the drug coverage, which by the way is modeled after the medicare coverage of drugs IE the drug pricing and coverage is what medicare recomends, that is the problem. If a drug is not covered by medicare, or considered a teir 3 drug, so it is in my PartC plan. That is the concern for me!! When I was employed and covered by my companies PPO self insured plan using the typical other health plans as trusties to administer that plan, drugs as prescribed were never an issue, there was no tier structure, and I could go to any reffered specalist without any additional fees. Granted there was a monthly copay, but when I retired and went to medicare originally with a supplement, the monthly copay tripled and coverage fell way off. Why does the govt involvement always seem to work the same??? It should have been better considering the years of prepayment I contributed, but of course not.

Found a way to totally wet but keep the sheets dry
deewet replied to dlmolicares's topic in Bedwetters
I have a question, if you are using cloth every time, why the disposable under it? Why not an extra layer or soakers of cloth as you have to do the laundry in any case, and avoid the cost of the disposable> -
I was going to avoid offering specefic info about my situation, but since you asked in such a nice fashion, I feel compeled to answer. First , I will say that as a Mn resident, I am using the home founded insurance provider for my Medicare Advantage plan. My wife is in full support of my use of protection, as I made a promise to her some time back to protect our bed at night after my first accident in bed, and she helped me find the day time pads that I use that work the best. My Urologist started me on the "prefered drug" that my insurance covers, that was Oxybutunal ER and that was what was causing me the upset stomach and dry mouth which I put up with for several months, going on and off the meds to prove the symptoms were caused by that only which I was able to do prior to complaining to my urologist again. I told him at that point, the side effects were not worth the benefit I was getting. He than told me about the best drug he has found, something with no side effects, a drug called Gemtesa which he offered me more than a months worth of samples to try, as he said it was expensive (1000/mo)and he would have to do some forms for the insurance to cover it. He was right, the side effects were nonexistent and the drug was working as planned with my frequency, but as I mentioned prior, when my bladder got filled, I had to find a potty in a hurry! The Urologist did his job and sent in the skript, filled out the paperwork and the insurance came back with first denial, telling us to use the first drug with all the side effects! A second appeal was lodged with another form, and the insurance co came back with another letter, telling us that we had to try at least one other drug prior to them allowing the use of the one that worked. My doc reviewed the list provided, Myrbetriq, Solifenacin, and Tolterodine ER and due to my other medical concerns, chose the last one, and wrote the script. My suprise when I went to get it and found that even "approved" by my insurance, it was costing almost $600/mo for me to use, so I said NO Bottom line, its not the docs that are at fault here, its the govt sponsored so called insurance that is the issue as prior to my retirement, my company medical insurance had coverage for everything needed by my medical team, and my company copay was a fraction of what I have to pay now for my lifetime paid for government health coverage that picks and chooses what it is willing to pay for. So people, think twice about what you want your government to do for you, as they don't care about your best interests when it comes to health care for sure if you are older and have already paid more than your share over the course of your 50 years of hard work!!!

The comment you made about urologist's hate for the use of protection certainly rings true for me as well. When visiting my Doc a few times back, I told him that my day time frequency especially in the morning was becoming worse, and in fact I had several instances of bed wetting as well now, he started me on a course of meds as he suggested they should allow me to avoid the use of the protection I have gone to. Well, the first med slowed down my frequency for sure, but when my bladder was full, I needed to be very close to a potty or I would certainly have an accident. Same thing for the night, it allowed me to sleep through the night, but come morning, as soon as I sat up or stepped out of bed, my full bladder was going to empty. Even if I could deal with this new urgency, the side effects were not worth it. I had constant heartburn and upset stomach, and dry mouth all the time. At my last appointment, I told my Doc that this was not worth it for the benefit of frequency lowered, and he said we should try a much better med to see how it works but it was expensive, and he would work with my insurance to get it approved. The med did remove the side effects for sure when I started to take the several weeks of samples he gave me but the insurance would not allow it after several tries. I could use it, for about $900/month and I said no. Finally, he suggested other alternative which the insurance said they would approve, but after the first script was filled for 30 days, I went to pick it up and was told it was $589/ for the month after insurance, and I said NO. Why don't these docs understand that when you are in your mid 70's, wearing protection products that work every time and add peace of mind are well worth the cost they have which is a fraction of any meds that may have other impacts to your health as well???

Seems to me this discussion is not leaning toward reality, but focusing on some perceived perception of what bed wetting must be classified as? In reality, if you are wetting during the night while sleeping in bed, you are a bed wetter even if you are wearing protection to protect your sheets and mattress! Splitting hairs by suggesting that the bed has to actually get wet to become a true bedwetter seems to me to be moving into this realm of fantasy. Lets get real now and focus on what is happening to the many who visit here, and talk about issues that really matter!

alas, the problem unearthed with many "research surveys" that are presented to us as gospel on anything and everything. As a retired engineer, I was trained and worked in my career always looking at the database used to ensure it is accurate and complete, and follow the analysis train before accepting published results as a basis for any of my work. As a result, I find that so many of the so-called experts we hear from are not based on the science I depicted above, but only on a thin premise, and currently accepted politics. Many are not trained and peer accepted scientists, but rather someone with a sub par education and little or no experience, out to make a buck selling or saying something! Keep in mind, you can say or publish anything these days, right or wrong-the thought that if it was said on TV it has to be truth, is so far off base that the only folks that believe this have had to been brain washed already. Wake up and accept the new reality, look for the real experts in the world and you will be able to see the differences!!!
