When I was a real kid, paper straws were common.  They were fine for liquid things like soda and milk.  A shortfall was they might get soggy and one needed another straw.  They were less good against thick things like milkshakes where they tended to collapse.  I also remember wax covered paper containers for drinks.  Sometimes the wax flaked off into the drink.  Plastic straws and coatings were a definite improvement.

Um Froggy, that just sounds yucky. No thank you on the waxed covered paper containers, drinking wax, yucky, yucky, yucky!!

I am 'waxing' for a plastic straw......though I to remember the paper straws from long ago..... The 'new' ones aren't much better.....may if they coated them with wax......

Thanks guys, it's getting better.... But still...ugh! .one odd thing that I wanted to mention, that sticks in my head, is a song that popped up out of no where, at a place I get coffee. If I remember right, it was a few days before I found out that he had gone. The song is that one by Mike and the Mechanics.... "The living years".  Not  a song that gets played a lot, or that you generally want to hear to lift your spirits. But in thinking about this, I figure it was my friend speaking to me about something that we discussed regarding his relationship with his dad vs. my "relationship" ( or lack there of) with mine. Both dads knew each other, but were very different. He would go out with his, play golf even....mine ignored me most of tge time, unless he wanted / needed something. One thing that occured to me through this though, is contrary to my thinking that this song was aimed at parent child relationships. It applies to ALL relationships. So the lesson here, for me anyways, is that if someone means something to you....let them know! If you have issues, air them out!! Don't ignore anything....'COMMUNICATE'. Because if you procrastinare, you pay for it for a very long time. So, I got some cards to send / drop off...and I'll include a note about what I wanted to say, and a " Thank you" and move on from there. But it still sucks, but as his daughter said.... "Everyone goes throygh this" ......she's a good kid. Just wish I had more time with her dad, but I am sure that is her wish as well.

I think it is true that the song applies to all relationships. Right now I really agree about the not procrastinate because in some ways you lose out on answers that you need. In my case I should have been brave enough to confront my parents about their lack of support during traumas that happened as a child. I think it is a great idea what you plan to do. I hope things keep getting better for you.

Nah, I'm actually 'trying' (not very hard) to loose some extra padding =P and NO! I won't share nuffin' nope nope nope! all mine =P but a pint of this stuff usually will last me 2-3 days. My brother, on the other hand, scarfs a pint a day if it's around =/

I'll eat a pint of ice cream in a couple of hours. A half gallon might take all day.

Lets see...pain killer = a bottle of Jack Daniels, Muscle relaxer = same thing..and maybe a small Japanese diaper girl to walk on my back yup....that works for me!

yeah it does suck =P but it's actually starting to break up...so mine should be done in a day or 2/.... thank GOD!

They are ok....hold a good amount....prolly 6000ml. Stayed in it all night, woke up soggy-er, changed and it was h e a v y. But, the down side is they are a tad small, tapes (for me) barely hit the landing zone, so that does'nt help. But they do work great, and last a long time! ?? 

Maybe me not being a baby helps somewhat as well...??

In between sizes in some makes. Medium 'fits', and large is to big! Soooooo....I stick with what I like and what fits. Seni supers and quattros are awesome!

yeah, thats all it was was soup! =( I don't get it though...the ice is frozen as are most everything else in the freezer, but the ice cream melts WTF is up with that?? I turned it down lower to see if that helps, but I moved what was left to an outside freezer on the patio..*sigh* soupy ice cream isn't any fun! =P

some one left the cake(ice cream) out in the rain and I don't think that I can take it, cause it took so long to bake it and I'll never have that recipe again. (At least not until you can buy it at the store).
