What procedure did you get and how was rhe recovery,  short and long term.  I really don't know what to expect, pain and discomfort wise after.   Everything I have been told is that they will remove the post surgery catheter after 8 to 12 hours, and do a voiding test.  I still have alot of questions and Anxiety.  Hopefully I will get some answers at my pre-surgery appointment.

Thanks in advance for any information about yours.   If you don't want to post here feel free to PM me directly.

@Baby Toni38: I've had the Rezūm procedure shortly after it was assigned its procedure code (i.e. not long after it was an approved procedure - about two years after the initial experimental trials report was out).  That procedure uses steam to kill off prostate tissue and then let the body absorb the dead tissue over the next three months.  From the description of your procedure, they will remove material during the procedure.  A catheter was left in for just under a week.  The procedure only removes some of the prostate, basically around the urethra.

I'm going to guess that your PSA numbers are elevated by the size of your prostate, but not really out of line for the size you have.  My PSA numers are larger than "normal", but my Urologist says in line with the size of my prostate, and my free PSA numbers are relatively good for my conditions.

Relax and have a good discussion with your doctor at the pre-surgery appointment.  If I ever need a followup procedure done, what you are having appears to possibly be more appropriate to more fully handle the issue.  Interesting....

The procedure they are doing is HOLEP.  It removes the prostate using a Lazer, by separating the prostate glandular material from the outside capsule.

    @Baby Toni38

Thanks for the note.  This looks like a better procedure than the minimally evasive procedure I had a few years back.  Looks like both of us have had the "fun" of dealing with early onset BPH.

    Best wishes.

ALPINE UPGRADED TO 2.26 / IMAP FUNCTIONING ON ALL BBUS IMAP BOXES, AND ALL GMAIL ACCOUNTS

    4/8/2024 @ 02:11 EDT

After struggling for over a week, and with the help of Mr. Chappa, He suggested that the problem was that I was running Alpine 2.24, which was ONE problem I was having:  The way that you authorize is to either choose "device" for those authenticating on one device, or "authorize" if using gmail accounts.

With his help, i completed the Outlook (office365) authentication with my bbus accounts (brian@, and root.bbus@ for my domain and the outlook accounts.  I had to download alpine2.26 from the developers website, then untar and unzip the resulting archive.  Then, using instructions I found online, I  compiled and made alpine binaries for the programs: alpine. pico, pilot, etc, and then once that was done, backed up my .pinerc, and then moved them from ~/alpine-2.26/bin/ to /usr/bin, for all of the programs.  Easy way for me to do that was to ln -s  alpine2 ~./alpine-2.26/bin/alpine.

I did that for all binaries, and then made a directory in /usr/local/bin/alpine-2.26 coped the binaries for alpine, pico, and pilot to that directory.  Since I had alpine 2.24 installed, I made each  program distinct by adding a "2" (i.e. alpine2, pico2, pilot2, etc.  I also copied the help files too, moving those as well.

I then did 'apt-get remove alpine' to remove the 2.24 version and with the Links I made to the new programs, and then moved the resulting binaries from /usr/local/bin/alpine-2.26 /usr/bin, that way I don't have to mess with the path variable, since the /usr/bin directory is in the path, and so is /usr/local/bin.

    Job Done!

ALPINE 2.26   COLLECTION LIST                                            Folder: INBOX                                             22 Messages +

        Incoming-Folders
            Incoming Message Folders
    	    Mail
            Local folders in mail/
    	    IMAP FOLDERS: store-director
Folders on outlook.office365.com/ssl/user=store-director@outlook.com/auth=xoauth2 in home directory
    	    IMAP FOLDERS: wizkid38
Folders on outlook.office365.com/ssl/user=wizkid38@hotmail.com/auth=xoauth2 in home directory
    	    IMAP FOLDERS: BBUS Mail (Gmail)
Folders on imap.gmail.com/ssl/user=bbus.brian@gmail.com/auth=xoauth2 in home directory
    	    IMAP FOLDERS: (Wizkid3878@gmail)
Folders on imap.gmail.com/user=wizkid3878@gmail.com/auth=xoauth2 in home directory

NOW you can see ALL Imap setups for the accounts, and in Incoming Folders there is an INBOX for brian@ and one for wizkid38, and one for each of my accounts I need:  I cleared about 3,100 messages out of my Personal Gmail Inbox, which was  piling up BAD:  Gmail does NOT use the same conventions as outlook or conventional email providers, so they have a folder setup that is a tad strange.  It wasn't too painful, but MY GOD, the authentication process was a NIGHTMARE, until Mr. Chappa sent me a client-id that would allow me to authenticate properly.  This is the reason I had to download, decompress, and install Alpine 2.26 - There was a change that google made that he said was causing problems, and the authentication was trying to send a code to another host, and so he made Alpine 2.26 so that when you sign in to google, it allows you to choose your account, enter the password, and then it will drop out and say that it cant connect to localhost - Then you COPY the URL that you get from the desktop browser (Firefox for me) and what happens is the ALPINE 2.26 program will then tell you to copy the "code" from the URL you received:  You Copy that whole URL from the Address bar (all of it has to be blue:  it will start with something like https://localhost [blablabla) and it will have a code, and you go BACK to Alpine.

Then, Press "C" and it will ask you for the code:  Paste the whole URL right there, hit Enter,  and when it asks if  you want "thunderbird" granted access to gmail,  in my case, even though using alpine, click OK, THEN go back to ALPINE:  It will say:  Perserve access token(s) for next login? (Y)/(N.  Hit "Y" and alpine will save the tokens.

Then, all you have to do, is Q(uit) Alpine, and then Hit "Y", then it wlll drop you to shell.  open alpine again, give the Master Password, and you will be sitting at the main menu.  From there, Press (S)etup/(L)Folder Collections and create your folder collections: You have to have a client-id and client-secret key for this to work:  Add that using (S), and (U)) to put those in, then save them, then add your collections:

    1.  Add ALL Incoming Mail folders to "Incoming Folders: Press (A)dd to add the folder AFTER you have opened the Incoming Folders and you are seeing the white cursor ON INBOX.  Hit "A" and follow the prompts..  when done, a connection will be attempted to your server [where your inbox is), and once it does, you will be able to read email from ALPINE. You can manage your mailbox folders too.

    [Will finish later on:)

    Brian

@~Brian~ Just don't ever accidentally install the stock alpine package with apt-get.  You would destroy the binary files you moved into /usr/bin.  Links instead of moving may have been a better choice in case of an accidental package installation of alpine....

    </Thread>

I have to say in the excessive time I spent ruminating on this perceived rejection*  I never considered this perspective.  You’re right,  I never went through the grief cycle, like so many others there did when they received the diagnosis of incontinence.  My experience was more of a relief cycle.

*This get’s to @oznl’s Uno Reverse question asking me why I get so offended when accused of faking it.   The answer is quite simple: I wish I knew  myself!   It’s on my growing list of things to work through in therapy! 😂😬

One of the reasons I think your thread subject resonated with me is early on as I was trying to find answers and possible solutions for when occasional nocturia turned into occasional nocturnal enuresis, there were folks who found true / real life stories stranger than fiction and therefore must be fiction....  Its part of why I don't go in to details of how I broke too often....  Most folks it takes time.  I'd join the folks that would like to comment in this area "be careful what you wish for".  I wasn't wishing for this, but I definitely have been closer to breaking all my life than the average / typical / normal person.  So some (probably very few) out their will break a lot quicker with no way back than the "normal" person.  So, the gate keepers get over zealous at times and don't want to get items posted that are out of the normal.....How can they tell the fake from the real?

Thanks for sharing your experience, its very insightful. I just started a trial of the oxybutynin ER too, but I'm hoping for some good results from it. I wouldn't be quick to blame government insurance here, as I've had the same experience with my private employer provided insurance. I know that these guys who manage these plans are cheapskates but I'd love to hear their justification for so many denials of these medications and why they make us fight for it. I wish some of these guys denying these claims would experience the symptoms we do for a day and see how it feels!

Medical insurance coverage of some of these drugs gets interesting, even under employer plans...

I was on a long term trial run of Mybetric.  I got a 3 month trial followed by a 1 year planned trial.  At first my employer plan covered the drug with just the "normal" co-pay (at the most expensive co-pay level).  When the next year's company insurance plan showed up they changed their drug plan to a new 4-tier formulary (vs the previous 3-tier formulary).  If the drug had been covered under the new plan, my costs would have gone up significantly.  However the new plan also did NOT cover Mybetric under the plan's forulary, leaving me to pay the entire cost if I wanted it.  And the drug was over $1000 under Good Rx for a 90 day prescription.  I opted to cut the experiment short and not get the final refill.  While I was seeing some good affects from the drug for what I was working on, it didn't fully address the root problem, so what's the point of taking it when I still would have needed (heavy) diapers at night....  According to my Urologist, Mybetric was covered under Medicare's part D drug coverage....  Something in me suspects if I was doing things that way I would quickly blow through the plans doughnut hole in drug cost coverage....  And two other drugs the Urologist had previously prescribed I told him I was not refilling due to side affects....

And I’m curious others thoughts on if there is a *possible* sensory predisposition that would explain why some of us ABDLs prefer to be incontinent. But that’s a different convo different day.

@Enthusi: Maybe not where you planned this thread to go, but....

I've known since (mid) elementary school that how I sense things is different from "normal" or "average", starting with pain.....

While I won't say I was wanting incontinence, a piece of my was scared / expecting something to happen at some point in time...  And when the combination of things hit that started the bed-wetting, so it came true.....  And that was before I knew about ABDL / diaper fetish, etc....  Found out about that once I started looking for how to handle the problem....

While sensory issues weren't discussed / brought up by doctors as I was growing up, I see what I have is now on the list of items associated with neurodiversity and autism spectrum.  So, you may have similar "fun" with current definitions knowing what you know now.

As for wasing the cloth diapi's. I just can't run them in the combo wash dry mode. Once they finish washing I get them un stuck from the side wall then dry them.

@diapijay Interesting.  Sounds like you found a way to use your washer / dryer successfully.  I assume you are still drying over night, so don't really notice the amount of time needed for the drying part of the cycle.

    Week 6 update

    No potty use this week.

As for peeing positions I noticed that when standing causes me to have to pee about 40% of the time.

Messing has gotten easier. I push for about 30 seconds then the rest basically slides out with a couple of minor push near the end.

As for cleaning of the cloth diapers in the washer/dryer combo. I can wash 5 prefold diapi's and 9 inserts. Which is a full day of cloth only. I wash them will I sleep. As for the vibration when it's on spin mode in the rv is a little ruff. I'm going to need to a better stabilizing system.

    @diapijay:

I've been meaning to comment on the washer / dryer setup.  I hadn't thought about it, but I can understand why you are doing it at night since if you are moving in the day, that won't work.  I expect you really need services hooked up (power / water / sewage ) to use the system.

One comment was the dryer can't have as much heat as a normal house hold electric dryer, as that is typically a 30 Amp 220 Volt circuit, which would use all of a standard RV 30 amp connection, and most of the higher 50 amp standard connection where that is available.  I assume this is just a "standard" 15 amp 110 volt plug - so maybe using only 1/2 of one side of the standard 30 amp circuit to the RV.  That would mean longer drying times, which I did find documented by another user of this type of washer dryer....  And being overnight, the longer time wouldn't be noticed...  I didn't consider how much the RV would shake while the load was spinning....  Interesting.....  Overall, I think I will plan to stick with the campground washer and dryers which are typically standard household systems.  Yes, you still need to spend some time to handle laundry.  At my usage level, I can (mostly) get away with doing diaper laundry every four days in a more standard size washer / dryer.  I suspect I would be close to daily with the type of system you are using....

Thanks for the info on your usage.

I am primarily an AB, and it does bother me. perhaps not as much as it would other people, but it does bother me.

It most likely is Metformin and I was having a phone appt with a nurse every three weeks, but the last one was cancelled, no idea why. She was helping me get my blood sugar under control and figure out the right dosages for my medicines. She did have me cut the Metformin dose, but my blood sugar jumped 50+ points! So I reverted back to the higher dose.

Are you on the standard version of Metformin or the time release version?  If on more than 500 MGC per pill more than twice a day, on the standard version, you might want to try spacing your dosages better....

Best wishes working out your issues....

It's been about two more months, and yep it's worse. Multiple small accidents a week, including one where I didn't even know I pooped, and at least once a week I'm all out emptying myself uncontrollably.

@ValentinesStuff: I see you list AB vs incontinence, so maybe you overall don't care as much...  But most of us would tell the doctor to cut that medication, lower the dosage, or ....

If this is metformin, I've found things very in how soft / hard the stool is....  I was good at a lower dose.  The current does is three pills, originally prescribe with two in the evening (at one time).  I'm now spreading the time between those evening pills and having less issues.

I try to be as open about this as I can. I've mentioned it several times on this forum. Many of those mentions are deleted because some person comes into the thread meaning to "preach to the lost" and convince everyone that they're hurting themselves and/or somehow mocking those who didn't choose to be incontient. They usually refuse to take any suggestions that, perhaps, what they're saying isn't actually contributing to the conversation and get a mod involved. The result is deletion of anything remotely related to it. I'm amazed these threads have stayed up so far. It's partially why I stay away from many of them - why post my story again if someone is going to come in, decide that they're going to be the hero saving people from themselves, and get it deleted?  (And before you jump to the conclusion, no, it's not because of some argumentative tone I've taken - most of the time, it's the person coming into the thread to try to "save people" that ends up flying off the handle and ironically giving the mods a reason to delete it.)

    @BrownBobby:

First, before I get to my point, I need to admit this area of the board is NOT for me....

Given that, and given the issue you have faced with deletions in the past, have you consider posting something in your account's available (but currently unused by you) "about me" section?  If things keep being deleted, this could give you a space to say what you need to that I would expect wouldn't be deleted, and then you could refer to that info rather than repeat it else where.

    Just a thought.

I admit I don't have any real good idea of what you or some others go through mentally.  I have enough "fun" mentally with medical issues that have resulted in incontinence and the "big boy" in me wants to shout "NOoooooooo!".  I'm sure your issues take the mental health issues to another level.

    Questions:

    1.  So I used the key it called for, and ran the update again.  Problem is: is there a way to make sure that they keyserver is pulling keys from debian sites, as opposed to ubuntu sites?  that can cause problems sometimes. as debian and ubuntu are similar in some ways, different in others?

    2.  How do you deal with "apt-key is depreciated??  Not sure how to fix that, and may need some help on that

    Thanks,

    Brian

    @~Brian~

On # 1, I'm not sure.  If there is a difference between the two, I would expect the key numbers to be different and either get a not found or the a download of a key that won't work from the wrong site.  Usually i find a way to download the key from the command line and then go from there to install it.  I thought the keynumber was a hash for the key, so I would expect a not found or download a good key if the key is found on that server.

On # 2, I'm starting to deal with that....   I believe it is still working (for now), but there is a new way to handle the keys used by apt-get.  Since I've only done this on a work computer, I'd have to google to help you here....  But basically the keys can now go in their own file (in a directory under /etc/apt/ , I forget if there is currently a convention for the directory name), and then define an entry in the appropriate sources.list file that contains a pointer to the key to be used.  Again, I'd have to goggle to come up with the correct syntax.  Basically you add [ <meaningful text> ] in front of the deb line in the sources.list file (possibly in a file under /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ directory).

    Best wishes.

@deewet You sound a bit like me in playing the watch and wait game.....  I assume you have both the PSA and the free PSA numbers.....  I've had one minimally evasive procedure (Rezume) which destroys part of the prostrate, that traps the Uretha, but basially leaves the rest in place.  My Urologist has made comments that my higher than "normal" PSA numbers (combined with the free PSA reading) are supported by the size of my prostrate.  I'm fortunate to not have a history of cancer, but do have history of growing things (non-cancerous)....   So, early on set BPH.....

Have you had a needle biopsy done?  Are the numbers supporting removal of the prostate?  Or (considering your age) are your risks such that you will likely die from other causes before prostate cancer actually could take you out?

I'm younger than you so I need to keep monitoring numbers....  As long as no major changes, I should be good....  sort of....

FYI, diapijay, pins aren't the only things available to affix cloth nappies - you should do a search for snappies, which are elastic grippers.  Although marketed to parents of babies in cloth nappies, we can use them too.  They tend to remove the slack that pins can cause, as they're elastic.  I also had used pins to "backstop" the snappies, just in case one breaks.

Also, you should experiment with various cloth folding techniques, as some work better than others.  I am currently using the Newspaper fold on my pre-folds, so my nappy is triangle-ish, but not pointed.  I am also using Boingo snappies, which are much shorter than snappies, but also have more strength, so I can get my nappies nice and tight against me.  Over the top is a mesh compression pant, and over the top of that ensemble is my plastic pants.

I've tried both snappies and Boingo.  I find they tend to tear into the type of diaper I use where pins properly work without tearing...  till the cloth gets more worn out.  Something to watch out for, and probably varies with the type of cloth diaper you are using.

Except from what I could read in the article before the paywall blocked it, is that they have not been approved by the State or Local governments to actually operate the business.

I read this site with NoScript loaded and blocking most add on scripts.  The original link paywall doesn't hit in the initial load of the page, so I *think* I see the whole article...  Agree that the article claims they have been turned down at the state level for the business license, and don't have things back from more local government entities.

I will be wearing mostly cloth diapers. I have a rv sized washer coming on Monday. I have been disposables for know. My cloth are coming fri/sat. I'm in Arizona currently. On Friday I'm going to changing times in vegas to get my plastic pants, changing pads, and pickup some disposable sample packs to see which works best for me when I go to stores.

It's a hybrid. If I have issues with it drying the bathroom can become my drying room with a little heater for now. Then I can get a separate small space dryer if I do go down this road full time.

@diapijay I will be interested in hearing how the washer / dryer works out in your RV, especially with cloth diapers.

Several years ago, I went on an extended camp out vacation with family, on a long road trip, needing cloth diapers at night (for bed-wetting), and also wore some during the day (in case of a nap).  Washing the diapers at various campgrounds along the way worked out fine.  However this spawned my most active conversation concerning my diapers.  My sibling and I were handling the wash, which had finished drying.  I was folding my cloth diapers and another camper showed up to do their laundry.  That person asked if they were towels.  I made a comment about they probably could be good towels.  At that point I believe the other person realized what I was folding....  And that ended the conversation...

I'll be retiring in about 2 years and am considering getting an RV and traveling some after retirement.  I saw an RV that listed a washer / dryer in the class B van and hadn't thought about it till then.  In my opinion, I think it would be a bit much to have such in a class B van, but I now see it is possible.  If I did that, I'd probably only run it when I was hooked up in a campground to water, sewer and electricity, and since such sites have typically including a laundry facility, I'm unlikely to include a (small) washer / dryer in the RV.  However, I could see where it might be useful if I had issues with # 2 while wearing cloth.  Due to early onset BPH, I now have day time issues along with my nighttime issues, so some level of protection is needed.  While I mainly use cloth diapers, I have found the high capacity disposables that are now on the market (curtsy of  the ABDL community), there is now a disposable that can handle my night time output, and is more convenient when traveling.  So, I am interested in how things go for you with cloth diapers and the RV washer / dryer.

Also, what type of RV are you using?  Class A, B or C, or ?

Just don't fly with diaper powder unless you want to meet the nice NSA EXO man. Apparently diaper powder is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS and very explosive according to the NSA. So the TSA will call them because their instruments only say boom while the NSA instruments say go zoom.

At this point, I always remove my bottle of (talc baby) powder and leave it by itself in the bucket when going through (US) airport security. I think the last several times I've flown they have always run the explosives test on the container, and then let it pass.....  So if you do bring it, just leave it where they don't have to dig through your carry on bag at the security check.  A full bottle (new) is almost guarantee to trigger checks after x-ray.  A partial bottle might slip through OK.

OK, you can't get talc powder in the US anymore, and I haven't tested corn starch yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if it shows similar on the x-ray machine.

The real "fun" one with that explosive machine is some sun tan lotions.....
