Hello, I've always been a fan of catheters and have followed the guides here. I wanted to know if anyone has had complications from self cathing besides infection. When I cath I make sure I have a full bladder and I also use medical lube, As I work the cath and it gets deeper there is one part where it stings but then I let out the full bladder and it doesn't sting as much as I continue to push the cath into the bladder. Could I be creating a stricture? Should I not self cath? Is this normal? Am I just worrying myself scared? I love the feeling of not having control however, would rather not have to get surgery down the road or permanently damage my urethra. Once it is in I don't have any discomfort or anything. Sometimes I like to put a vibrator on the tip of the cath. I use a 14fr. I am a small sensitive guy.. I am thinking I shouldn't do this anymore.. I appreciate your feedback!

I like the idea of not having any control. With tunnel plugs the hole isn’t as wide as your sphincter can open so fecal matter can get stuck. What’s the best course of action or prep for fast acting affects? I don’t want to wear the plug in for more than a couple hours. I was thinking fiber loading the day before and then taking an osmotic oral laxative and drinks tons of water? However, I don’t know how long those take to work.

I don’t have bladder spasms and leakage is fine and preferred as urine is constantly “washing” the catheter preventing bacteria from creeping up. perhaps im over filling the balloon.

Hey all, I use the smallest catheter with great success! However, I notice that sometimes I will have the urge to pee and when I let go I feel a pressure on the bladder sphincter, if I keep letting go sometimes it gets uncomfortable. I believe what’s happening is, as urine is passing by the catheter and threw it it’s causing it to slip down and the ballon is being stopped from going down further by the sphincter. Which creates that uncomfortable feeling. Is there anyway to stop this?

Hey Yall, I am looking for a more absorbent diaper than Abena's M4 but not as expensive as North Shore's mega max. What do you think the best options are? Unfortunately, better dry isn't an option for me as the cut doesn't work well with my body type. Thank you!
