Codymoogle Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Reputation...Does it even mean anything for the members of the site? ~ moogle 4
loopy Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Just bragging rights really I think. Easy to see who's nice/helpful with it through.
Repaid1 Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 I got a six...for whatever that is worth...I'm pretty sure I could change it to whatever...but, what the heck. I guess I did six things right. 2
sarah_ab Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 yeah reputation means somethings means dont mess with me *giggles* i tried to be all tough when i said that.. but i'm not sure how it worked
Guest Katharsys Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 So the question is, how does one increase your reputation? I am only at a 1 (while moogie is at a 2...grrrrr). Granted, it is nothing more than not much at all, but it is still kinda fun to think about. edited to add: Sarah is at 26?! 4
Pudding Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Sarah ish, yes! It has everything to do with her being awesome <3 1
hidden Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 there is a plus/minus symbol on the bottom right of each post. click it to add or subtract to the poster's rep. anyone can see what that post's rating is too. 1
freswith Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 The Vikings used to say that "the only part of a man that survives him is his reputation!" They were a pretty hard bunch. Nowadays, of course, you are survivied by every cock-up you have ever made, and by all of your posts. 1
babykeiff Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 'One can survive everything nowadays, except death, and live down anything, except a good reputation' - Oscar Wilde 'A good reputation is more valuable than money' - Publilius Syrus According to the above, ones reputation is your character as seen by others, extremely valuable, easy to loose, difficult to earn, and worth more than its weight in gold. Apart from the comedy mentioned by Freswith, it is true that all you leave in this world is your reputation. Lets all hope that it is a good one, and that people think of you with respect and not disdain. 2

redneck diaper boy Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 There are people that don't like my political opinions so I think I have a minus 27. Reputation...Does it even mean anything for the members of the site? ~ moogle 4
sarah_ab Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 There are people that don't like my political opinions so I think I have a minus 27. i just gave your post here a positive.. While i dont agree with many of your political posts, and I will admit at times i find it annoying that many different members turn lots of posts into political arguments, i'm not going to give someone a negative simply because their opinoin is not my opinion..... unless of course its about me, in which case if its not absolutely flattering compliments its an automatic negative! 2

Pudding Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 heheh i'm at 79 now Sarah figured out she could rep herself ^_~ 1
ArtemisEnterri Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 There are people that don't like my political opinions so I think I have a minus 27. Gee, I seem to have the same problem... People hate me because of politics... I've even had a certain person (not gonna say who) who the other day iggied me when I entered chat to "avoid any unpleasant politics", and I never said a freaking word at that moment (nor said anything politics related for the whole 45 minutes I was in there)... 1
loopy Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Maybe its more to do with the way you both present your arguments, you gotta admit you get aggressive over it..... meh, I only neg spammers and trolls anyways.
curiositykilledthecat Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I got called a prick one day so don't feel bad. I'm nice to everyone on here to. 1
drynot Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Don't feel so bad folks. My rep is getting slaughtered due to the druggie topic. Its pretty funny.... 3
loopy Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Its not because of the druggies topic, its because of the way you present your self in that topic. Attacking and hating on everyone who posted in it. Be nice and you won't get neg repped. Your attitude sucks.
Guest Baby-Toa Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 >.> rep doesn't really matter for me. rep doesn't effect the way I behave *which is 99% well behaved to everyone as long as their not being mean to others.*
Horndog Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I'm not bothered by the rep system. I think it should be utilized for strictly buying and selling goods, though.
DailyDi Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Over time reputation does matter. Specifically when it comes to moderation. Someone who posts something offensive who has a good rep will probably get a warning; whereas someone who has a history of rule breaking and general annoyance may be banned.

Does offensiveness include poking the admin in the belly like the Pilsbury Doughboy and running off in a gigglefit? ~ moogle
ArtemisEnterri Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I think there are people who just plain don't like me, cuz I've been given negatives on posts I entered that had no rude or inflammatory remarks in them at all (like a post I did last night on the poll about Windows vs Mac vs Linux).
