…and the hits keep coming. Mortgage rate is going up again.

Sounds like you got an ARM which really sucks when rates go up; especially now with inflation... Banks are paying over 5% for 3-month CDs with low initial investment. Sure am happy that mortgage was paid in full during 2021. Spent most of the time getting screwed like you and not liking it.

I would say if you can Get a  refi, you can shop around for the best rate, but be sure to get a fixed rate. Depends on what payment you can afford the best rate is generally the short term, like a 15 yr? even if the rates are going up on your adjustable loan, you can still sometimes get good rates on fixed. And in most cases you can do it with nothing Down on the refi. And if you shop around to other loan companies you will get a better rate, because you are new to them. And if you want to stay with your company you can ask them to switch over to a fixed. If the reason your payment is up is taxes? then refi will not help. But we were told they only raised the taxes on our home when we did a refi or maybe a big remodel.

i hate property taxes, especially when there are fees that have nothing to do with me, like school fees, why the hell should i have to pay for schools? i dont have kids, i aint ever having any, they should just charge the parents those fees.

NJ started doing rebates: even renters can get it.  I got $1,000 on Thursday.  Could of been $1,250, but we make too much according to the state.  Supposedly in a couple years, if your 65 and older and own a house you can get 50% up to $10k.

Well at least here it's a smarter way to go, buying a home with the tax right off, and I can do what ever I want to my home. I have rented and all we get in this state as a renter is to pay More than you will if you own, and then you get a whopping $100-200 Max back on taxes as a renter credit. This state has never offered any more than that. I can't live in a more congested state, we live in the mountains Small city. And about the school tax? That's so the kids around you can go to schools and maybe 🤔 learn enough to get a job, rather than being on state Assistant all there life, because then taxes are more so we can pay for them to sit on there butt. I am not against people who need it health and other things, and short term welfare when a wife is stuck after her husband leaves. I am pissed when a Person will get a girlfriend pregnant over and over, so she gets state pay, then he will live off her, it happens al the time her.

Here in Pa I get a 1000 back off property taxes from the state.

That's really cool. So your rental price for an apartment must be higher than any place in CA. No one ever gets more than $100-200 out here. And our rental house prices are $2000 low and I am not sure about the high, Maybe $5000 ??? or above. Lucky you.

We Never ever get any credit back for property tax they keep that and we never see it again

Instead of having property tax they should increase the tax on goods.

Property tax in California is 0,71% with national rate at 0,99%

Property tax in Norway is between 0,1% and 0,7%

We have tax on EVERYTHING.

  • We get taxed on our income. (Federal and state both, and in some states - locality as well)
  • We get taxed on the goods we purchase (I'd say the average is around 6% - some states is more (or way more), some states less and very few not at all).  And if you go to a restaurant in many cities, be prepared to pay not only a sales tax, but an additional tax on top of that.
  • We get taxed on the land we own (and more when there are structures on that land).
  • We get taxed on the fuel we use to get to work
  • And one of the biggest insults.... WE GET TAXED ON TAX REFUNDS!

Sorry, We do get a $7000 credit on our Property tax, But its not on our income tax. It's a credit taken directly off the tax bill.  sorry I miss read I thought you like the others were talking about the tax credit on your tax return. The rental credits are only $100-200 here. And one guy said it was a $1000 plus in NJ.

We own our home here also. So I haven't had the renters credit in a lot of years.

I've never heard of a tax on tax refunds.

25%

But we don't have tax on heritage or winnings, so if you win 10 million in the lottery, you get 10 million.

oh yeah ... forgot inheritance tax.

And taxed on any gambling winnings as income.  You're supposed to report it all -- but casinos will report anything over a certain amount so you can't dodge the tax man.

In Michigan there is no rent credit. The only thing you get is screwed and you're supposed to like it.

Property tax keeps going up so you can pay the left wing teachers to indoctrinate your kids.

The big thing renters don't understand is any increase on the cost the owner is paying you are gonna pay.
