By trade...I am a paralegal but not currently working in that field. I'm also a law school wannabe...but not looking forward to huge student loans and not able to find a job that can pay for them. So...I am currently in the health insurance industry as it has been my niche for ten years now. I do have a degree in business information systems and hoping to land a job as a Business Analyst at my company until the economy picks up where I can go back to school to get my law degree.

Retired 10+ yrs now after over 30 yrs in auto engineering, most in emission testing. Main job was on Chassis Dynomometers developing and verifying the fuel economy and emission numbers seen on car window stickers. Part of that was running refueling tests in a sealed box/garage to measure hydrocarbon emissions. If a car didn't pass, Chrysler couldn't sell that line. Fortunately, most all passed, the one that didn't turned out to be a mish mash of wrong parts. Once proper "production" parts were installed, it too passed. The refuling test is the last of many to certify a vehicle line for sale. When I did cert tests, I had all kinds of EPA officials and my bosses crowded into my 6x10 control room.

From early youth through today I have been involved in the family construction business. It evolved into an inspection service as (late) dad and my siblings are getting too old to swing a hammer every day. lol

Bottled Pepsi for three years starting two weeks before my high school graduation. Talk about scheduling night mares, I had my own and a girlfriend's graduation and proms to attend. I think I got about 6 or so hours sleep in those 7-8 days. lol

As soon as I was able, drove dump trucks for another family members' business. Actually ran it for quite a while when he was disabled.

I spent 2 yrs transporting custom cars, setting up and running car shows around the country. If I was to say I've driven Munster Koach, Dragula, and many others, it would be too close for someone to ID me, so I'll leave it at that. lol FYI, those in the US may know the shows as "Autorama," "Motorama," "Cavalcade of Customs," etc

Recap, I have never been out of a job since my pre teens until I retired Dec 31, 2001.

Re PreferWets' post; I agree, loved the car shows and travelling, but the weeks on the road and time away from home, family and friends did take a toll.

Medically Retired NY Paramedic/Firefighter

Forensic Evidence Preservation

Radiological Decontamination Officer for Public Service Personnel ( in the event of any kind of radiological emergency it was my job to decide if a Cop , Firefighter , EMS , etc was safe to be decontaminated and given new clothes and their vehicle cleaned and they can stay in service or whether they have received a fatal dose of radiation and should just go back into the hot zone and work until they die because they and there vehicles are too "hot" to be around anybody else.{ I am glad i was never called upon to make those decisions other than during disaster drills because it would be hell to look a friend in the face and tell them call your wife and kids and we will remember you}

Currently:

Federal Government

Communications Specialist

Emergency Operations Center

I am a Haul Truck Operator for a contractor in the Northern Alberta oilsands. The truck I operate is an off-road Caterpillar 789 or 793 200-ton class dirt hauler. The pay is good and the hours are long!

I use to work as a painter, doing drywall, sheetrock, hanging them, did construction. concrete as well. I got out of there did little maintance work at a hotel but quit. Too borning. I did factory work at a plant making fish baits, everything from cooking them and compressing them through a machine, to bagging them. Later I worked in a kitchen as a chef, started learning how to cook professionaly. It was fun but stressful at times. Later I became a merchandiser for Shamrock Farms out of Phoenix. Ordering for stores, Schools and Wal-Mart. All their milk and ice cream. Got my CDL. Class A, and started driving a truck doing deliveries for Shamrock Farms. It was fun till I got a DUI and lost my license so I lost my job too. I tried to become a police officer in 2005 but I was disqualifed. Got turned down. I worked in a store as a sales person, cashier, ordering, inventory, helping customers all the time, etc. For a number of years. Just recently I started doing renovations to some homes that were own by private owners. Building porches, decks, fences, got alittle into electric works, doing pluming, landscaping, painting, sheetrock, hanging them. Working with power tools all day long. Did alittle mechanic work on some cars. Private owners. I'm not much of a mechanic though. Like to go to school for that and become one. That might be my next job. I'm not working right now. I'm just a babysitter right now taking care of my neice. She's just a baby. I love taking care of her. I guess I'm sort of a versatile worker. I done alot. Not sure what I'm going to do next?
