After a year of asking I finally got the good sleeping pills back from my shrink by promising not to let it make me gain weight. I told him my weight-loss was not due to the absence of the drug, but to my own diet changes, which is true.

Took 2 days for Walgreens to get it in stock, but I finally have it and hopefully will sleep well tonight. Thickly padded of course.

I am glad to hear that you got the medicine that you think you need to be able to sleep well. I have been having problems with my sleep as well, but the last few nights I've been doing pretty good, because I take my medicine at least two hours before bed. What I use for night time sleeping is usually hydroxyzine. I also have gabapentin, and another that slips my mind at the moment. If I take all these together like I'm supposed to, along with the dyazide, I'll sleep like a baby, I won't have to worry about a thing, because I'll have my diaper on, and by the next morning, my diaper will be wet, and almost at capacity. This morning I took it off and I grabbed the middle of it, and I noticed that it was very very wet all the way through. I must have slept really well if that is what happens

sleep is very important: if you don't get enough of it, your clock changes. Remember during the pandemic? I remember because of the fact that we couldn't do anything at all for a long time, because everything was closed and we were not allowed to do certain things, my whole entire life changed. People weren't coming in to check on me very often, I wasn't getting any outside services, and the only place I was going was the doctor or the PT. During this time, I changed my schedule so I'm up between noon and five in the morning, and I sleep from 5 until noon. It took me almost 3 1/2 months to be able to change that schedule back to a schedule where I'm working 8 to 5. During this time, I was constantly sitting right here, and reading and responding to posts and doing things that kept my mind busy, and believe you me sleep was something that I was missing because I was constantly in the bathroom.

Being thickly padded is a good idea: even in the daytime for me, diapers are more the norm than ever. I've accepted it, and I love it because I don't have to worry anymore. It is my hope that you get the sleep that you need, so you can function the way you want to function, and who knows maybe your back won't hurt so much, because when you take your medicine you will be able to move better. Since sleep is mostly important, you need enough of it to be able to function, and hopefully the sleep pills that he gave you will not make you gain weight, hopefully they will help you to be able to sleep like you want to, so you don't have to worry about it thing. When I don't sleep well, I get grumpy, and I don't like to be that way.

I can't recall back far enough to remember if I ever slept through the night uninterrupted.  I still don't, but it's definitely better since I went on CPAP therapy.  Would be nice to find out what's causing me to constantly wake up though.

That’s my biggest issue too, waking up over and over.

I take 60 MG of Temazepam every night or I don’t even have a chance to sleep.

I know why I wake up 3 to 6 times a night.  It's to pee.  No, I'm not going to just wear diapers to bed.  I prefer to get up to pee even if I do wake up 3 to sometimes 6 times a night.

hydroxine is an antihystamine used to block itching caused by allergies. It is also used to treat anxiety as a relaxant.

gabapentin is used to treat nerve pain (as a blocker) and has been found to help with epilepsy by reducing electrical signals within the brain however, its side effects can be problamatic for some.

dyazide is used to treat high blood pressure and is a combination of two duretics which will cause you to wet overnight. Normally it is advised to take same 4 hours before sleep.

Cruiser 03, I strongly suggest that you talk to your doctor etc. and find out why you are on such a high dosage. Normal range is 20mg to 30mg, and increased to 40mg on second round. Investigative procedures are normally carried out inbetween to find an alternative. I suspect that your dosage has been increased 4-5 times.

@DailyDi you seem to be happy to get your sleeping pills back, and I can appreciate and understand that, but the question exists, and was probably asked of you by your doctor - are you becoming dependant on the pill, and I am not talking about the physical need, I am asking about the pschological side - the act of taking those pills may be sating your subcontious.

1961 Leake The longer one takes a specific medication, the less effective that medication becomes as the body becomes immune to its effects. This is the time course of pharmacological effect, something your doctor should know i.e. how long a specific medication is effective.

Don't misconstrue this information and start / stop taking medication without the instruction of your doctor. Just find out how much you need / don't need the medication from your doctor.

It is not that you are addicted or not, it is the effect chemically on your body - is it helping chemically (and medical science can prove  it is not) OR is the act of taking that specific tablet telling your mind that you will have a good night sleep from taking it. This is called the placebo effect is when an improvement of symptoms is observed, despite using a nonactive treatment. It's believed to occur due to psychological factors like expectations or classical conditioning. Research has found that the placebo effect can ease things like pain, fatigue, or depression.

Recently, 2021 published paper from China, it has been discovered that the placebo effect can occur with people on long term medication long after the medication itself has ceased to be chemically effective.

I used to take gabapentin for diabetic nerve pain when I finally got my doctor to change medications (I finally had to change doctors) I was taking 2800mg a day spread over 3 doses and wasn't working. I was glad to lose that med. Long term use was causing other health issues my sister was given it for a severe head injury and she had some severe side effects which I guess from what I have heard and read happens to a fair amount of people and I took it for 3 years.   P.S. please accept my apology for butting into your conversation. I quit every thing on a Friday , cold turkey , as I did every drug I ever did , I felt like shit for a few days , but I’m one bullheaded , somabitch, and I can take alittle pain , or withdrawal, it’s all through yer system in like 3-4 days ! But it sounds like your case might not be that easy , to just walk away from ! Hang in there , and don’t give up , and don’t be afraid to ask the lord for help , because, he sure did save.me more than , a few hundred times , more times ! Get well my friend

Fornutaully all my meds are non habit forming but still have to take especially the nerve pain meds I would not be able to walk without it I have I wear carbon fiber braces in my shoes as it is. I know how you feel diabetes forced me into retirement in my mid 40 54 now. I think sometimes why didnt people just push me off a bridge and I think I did 20 years in the Corps and came home from desert storm and few other places and like you I am a stubborn strong and if you tell me I can do it or it wont work I will find a way to make it work. I once told my podiatrist that if I ever had to have more than the little toe that I had have removed I told him I would be in my garage constructing my own prothetic foot complete with a holster and ammo storage space he believed me. But when I feel down I just look up at the sky and laugh and say couldn't find someone else to mess with. Thats ok bring it on but remember when it is my time to go I am going through the pre-paid line no stopping and checking in with ST. Peter. I am heading straight for the express lane. Lol

  But back to my experiences , over there . The absolute worst thing I was involved in was , I was driving my military 65-67 dodge van  had windows all around and had seats in it to , but it was just me 90% of the time , and the road is like a country 2 lane road , but it was just like driving over here , but the speed limit was only 55 klm , that’s about 35 mph , no speeding , so after running the same road day after day it got boring , I would get like I wanted to do to sleep , but there was something going on cart tipped over on the road , animal’s on the road , so you had to be on your toes at all times , every view , was a postcard , it was a nice place , I knew a lot of people over there , gi’s that had just stayed there , and had wife’s , kids , a dog and a house , just like over here , but life was laid back , very much so ! But I had to drive this road every day except Sunday , Saturday, we got off at noon ! But early on , I had went to this little h/s in claysburg , pa. And the whole graduating class was like 61-67and that’s it , but one night I’m on the 3rd floor  of this big store , each floor was like 50’x50’ , and it was a rather hot night , and the third floor was a china shop , dishes and such , so I bought this chia set , for 6 all the cups and saucers , plates , bowls every thing , and I was smoking , and I walked over to this window , and down on the street , I saw this guy that was the spitting image of this close friend from  school , a classmate , so I leaned way out the window his name he had a very original name , so he looks up , and we scream at each other , it was him , and I got my China , and went down , we hugged each other , and both asked each other , whadafuck are yo doing here .? We went to a small bar and had a drink and talked ,like where are you at , what base back in forth , he then tells me that the brother of one of our classmates was here too , he was like 2 years older , but it was such a small town , if you was 11’th grader , you would hang out with his older brothers to , but buddy wasn’t a man to bicker with , 5’5” and he was a great wrestler, and he would take on 3 guys bigger than , and kick every one of their ass’s and he liked to party too , so in the coming weekends we would rent a car and party from sat after noon , until chow at 6 pm , they were both 0311 grunts , killers So they weren’t around alot , going out in the bush , training !      
so we lost track of each other ,but it was great fun while it lasted ! Then I got into McCoys , one man family , we were gangsters like any 2 guys on the sopranos, some of the shit we did , it makes me shutter to this day that , we weren’t busted , or shot , lots of off the wall shit , but then something happened that had nothing to do with him , but a Sargent I had become like a younger brother too , !   
                   This all happed in one day…the spelling of the bases is off only because I forgot the spelling !

I’m not going to go into great detail , but I can still smell the smells from that day , I was coming down fro Camp Swab , towards Camp Hanson , and I knew every inch of the road , drivin it every day for about 4 months , but I came to this curve to the right before a downhill slope , at the bottom was another was a sharp curve to the left , but I got to the curve and traffic  was just stopped , so I being in a military van , just got into the left lane a proceeded around the curve and down the rather steep hill , when I got closer , I knew it was a wreak ! So I got as close as I could get to it and parked on the left side of the road , up in the weeds so traffic could get around , of course there would be no traffic , as this big cement truck , okinawan owned and operated was coming down the hill , and probably tried to cut the corner , ( they drive like they own the road , even if it’s a little 3wheeled cart , they get killed like , deer back home ! ) but also facing the curve the same direction of the big truck , and these guys were probably going a little fast and they too , had cut the corner , but they hit head on the car hit the truck , right behind the front wheel and caught the lower fender and step of the truck , nothing that you couldn’t beat out with a hammer , but the car took the worst of it , it was a 4dr Toyota , red and the front end was smashed all the way back to the windshield on the left side , it was a right hand drive car the steering wheel was over on the right side ! Both the driver and the back seat had head injuries , didn’t look to bad facial cuts noses bleeding and from the mouth too , but I finally noticed the front passenger, while the 2 others , were getting treatment , this guy was alone I walked over to the door , and just ripped it off the hinges , and I figured the medic’s might want access to this side of the car too , but the scene , was like in slow motion  I could see , he was dead no movement , his body was just crushed like a toy all of hi limbs were compound fractured, and twisted up grotesquely, the seat was crushed , back alittle behind the drivers seat his neck had a huge gouge in it on the left side , like he was beaten in the neck with a claw hammer , his jay was …he was really fucked up,, but I couldn’t help but get close to him and shew the green flies away , but , I got in close to his face , and thought , shit , he’s somebodies son, brother , husband , father , dad ! And in a second that seemed to be like a picture , I saw his hair was marine corp , outstanding , his tight blond mustache, was trimmed to a T, and his white tee shirt was bright white, and his shirt was a short sleeve wit the bottom rolled up an inch , and the color was sky blue with small white stripes runnin down it , he was a for sure , one squared away , Marine ! And I got all misty eyed, just thinking 15 minutes ago he was very alive , and I stood vigil, over him until real life snapped back , the one orderly jumped up to him ,from the right side , and ripped his shirt open and listened for a heartbeat , but there was none , he asked me if they could get him removed from that side , and I said I think , and 2 guys came over and the three of us picked his crushed body out of the wreckage , I could feel and hear , his broken bones , bumping up against each other , we layed him on a gurney, and he looked, so broken , it really hit me hard , as we had to bend shit so as to make room for him to be free of the junk that was the car ! And real quick the road was cleared so they could drive down towards a hospital , and I was right on their ass , I got back to base , and told the story , but for the most part I just went up to the EM club and got drunk , but I got over it , he wasn’t the first dead guy I had seen , right in front of me !  So about 3-5 days later I was leaving base , heading north and they had a white bench sitting right by the gate as you left , and if somebody in uniform was there it was just the thing to do was offer the man a ride , he was a gunnery Sargent , that I had known , he worked for special services , He did things like set up , dinners and parties for special events , shit like that, it was like a 45 minute drive , so we talked about this and that , and we were almost to where the ocean was on both sides of the road , and it was curvy , and I asked him about that marine that was killed in car wreak outside of camp swab, he didn’t say any thing at first , so I looked over at him , and I had told him about sgt Lawson , and him being the head guy at the special services , and how we got along so good , I’d helped him pack for the trip over here and I had been to his house and had ….he looked me in the eyes and said , do you have a good grip , on the wheel and I hadn’t a clue what he was getting , and sorta grinned ,and said sure , he looked straight ahead and said that was sgt Lawson , it was like , somebody had just thrown a bucket of cold water on me but , I didn’t get it cause it was hotter than hell out side , and I looked at him he looked forward , and I just went numb , and he asked me if I was going to be aright ,and I completely , was  all stiff but I said ,…sure , I’m okay , we didn’t talk to much after that as his base was just about to come into view just a head , the rest of the short trip , I was calm and collected , I stopped , he said he was sorry that it was him who told me , I smiled and said thank you , he left , but I just turned my van around and went back to my base , told the top ( head enlisted man , like E9 , that I had got some very bad ,my lips were quivering,and he could tell I was about to lose it ,he said come into my office  , and I just broke down , and sobbed , from deep down inside , like a 8 year old who’s dog got hit by a car , and I had to go get his dead body off the road with my wagon , but top just rubbed my shoulders and asked me a few questions and gave me like a long 72 hr ,pass , to just deal with this , I got my shit in one bag thanked him and left the building and got drunk as hell and went into my old apartment , which me and McCoy had rented , along with these gook whores , who were really nice and would fuck or suck us off every once , like we , were lovers , but they were gone only this guy we were friends with and he was always giving me and McCoy , big hunks of black tar heron , and I just stayed out of my mind , drooling and drinkin grape soda ,high as a moo foo!  Part 3 will be next the last few days ov oki, and home !
