Those are the ones I remember.

Me too.  Back in the early 1960's you could still get metal cap pistols and the roll of caps at the drug store up the street.  No longer and I understand why.  Kids can't be kids anymore.  Cops never know if it's a real gun or a toy pointed at them.  Yes, toy guns have to be sold with an orange muzzle, but a little paint can take care of that.  When we were kids we just played.  With the violent video games kids play these days there is no "Cops and Robbers" or "Cowboys and Indians".  They can't distinguish between a violent video game and real life anymore.  Their toy guns are used like real ones, or they eventually graduate from toy guns to real guns with real bullets.  18 years old and shooting up a school with an AR-15 either bought at a gun store because they were 18 or given to them as a gift by their deranged parents.  I don't remember that happening all the time when I was 8 years old!

That is very true and we also didn't know what was happening more than 2 towns over until a week later. No internet wasn't always a bad thing.

Funny story I grew up on a lake , and sometimes due to variations in rain and snowfall some years the waterline could be much lower . Do one day I was walking an area that was normally underwater and I found the real thing , lucky for me I was smart enough not to do anything with it but bring it home to mom , it was a fully loaded snub nose 38 special, my mom had a heart attack when I said “I found this “, my normal cap guns were chrome 6 shooters like Roy Rogers that used the paper rolls .
