Maybe a squished up casserole of some sort? I'm not brave enough to find out. Food can be horrifying! I'm not brave enough to try that- it looks as appetizing as casu marzu, cheese with maggots in it. ? Kinda reminds me of this pic:  cute pork buns gone wrong!

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say those were pig knuckles.  Quite tasty, but they did themselves no favors with this photo.
