So here's my second story, Witch in Training. It's an MDLG/ABDL romance novel about two Witches from very different backgrounds in a universe filled with Magic. Alternating between the perspective of each Witch every chapter, beginning with the more traditional village Witch.

It should be about 40 chapters long, with an Epilogue at the end, and new chapters will be posted every Wednesday and Sunday.

You can find my first story, Little in Love, currently in progress, here.

Two weeks Early Access to chapters of Witch in Training is available for the second tier on my Patreon. The first five chapters in pdf form are up from the start, with the sixth being posted on Wednesday, the same time the second will be posted here. If you have any questions regarding this, ask away. Charge up front is enabled. Meaning you will be charged as soon as you pledge. Little in Love Chapters are not available for Early Access.

I hope everyone enjoys this story as much as the first! Please feel free to leave comments and feedback, I love reading it all!

Chapter 1: Village Life

I watched as the water droplets made their way down the plants.

Cascading down each leaf.

Each leaf bending and swaying as the weight of the droplet forced its way downwards towards the soil.

I admired the way this universe worked, even in small ways like watering plants. The cycle of life, the connection between the elements, the necessity to depend on others...

I lost myself whenever I did this by hand. It’s why I did it this way, rather than relying on my power.

Sure, I could just wave my hand, channel a bit of magic, and ‘poof!’ the plants are fully grown in an instant and no effort is needed.

But I enjoyed the day to day, the daily watering, watching them grow and get stronger as I nurtured them, from a tiny seedling all the way to when it blooms.

I liked feeling like the love I channelled in to my daily routine with them provided them enough to grow stronger than if I had just used my magic.

It was the only way I could satisfy that part of me.

For now.

The bell from my front door rang.

“Oh that must be Mrs Timpson. Here for her usual.”

I liked talking to my plants. They didn’t talk back, but when you live alone, on the outskirts of the village, you don’t get much conversation. So I take whatever I can get.

I put the watering can down beside the plants and walked over to the front door. As I passed the large mirror, I checked myself out quickly.

My long black hair flowed down my shoulders, resting neatly on my cardigan. My glasses were wonky, so I quickly went about correcting that. I didn’t need them, but they did make my green eyes pop and it gave me an aura of intelligence to everyone around the village. I wiped a bit of dirt from my lightly freckled face.

My t-shirt was on day 2 of use, I hadn’t found the energy or time to do any washing. But hey, it looked good on me at least. And it hugged my curves perfectly.

At six foot, I was a bit on the taller side, with nice curves and a kind, affectionate face. Or so I’ve been told by ex’s and random guys hitting on me.

And then I realised something I had nearly forgotten about.

With a flick of my wrist, my comfortable cardigan was replaced by a long black robe, my jeans into a medium length black skirt, my favourite band tee turned into a smart white blouse.

“Much better.” I said to myself whilst admiring myself in the mirror.

I opened the door to see the familiar face of Mrs Timpson waiting for me. She was an elderly lady from the village with white hair and glasses. You would never catch her not wearing a floral outfit. She loved flowers and put her heart and soul into her garden, often exhausting herself beyond her limits.

“Hello Mrs Timpson. Are you here for your usual today?”

“Not today dearie.”

“Oh, then come in and sit down. Tell me what’s up.”

I held the door open for the elderly woman as she slowly shuffled into my house, sitting down at my rustic oak table in the kitchen.

Closing the front door, I followed her through and put the kettle on the stove before sitting down across the table from her.

“So how can I help?”

“Well my plants are doing perfectly, thanks to you dearie. You have such a connection with nature, I really admire that about you. Not like those witches you see on television.”

“Well thank you Mrs Timpson. I really appreciate you saying that. So if not your garden, what ails you?”

“It’s my back dearie. I’ve tried everything I can. I’ve seen so many specialists, had so many different treatments. Nothing works.”

“Why didn’t you come to see me sooner?”

“I already ask too much of you with my garden. I didn’t want to bother you.”

“Oh Mrs Timpson, you’re no bother. I wish you had come to see me sooner, I bet I can get that back of yours feeling better in no time. Cup of tea?”

“Oh yes please dear. That would be wonderful.”

“Can I just quickly take a look at your back?”

“Of course. Go ahead. Do you want me to lie down or anything?”

“Don’t worry, I just need to read the energy around your spine. It will only take a moment.”

Running my hand down her spine, a few inches away from her navy blue floral dress, I sensed a twist in the flow of energy.

“Ah yes. I see the problem. I’ll have it sorted in a jiffy.”

I walked over to my plants and searched for the specific one I needed. Finding it, I snipped a bud from the stem and took it over to my kitchen counter, dropping it in my pestle. I channelled a little bit of healing magic into the bud.

“Tea is nearly ready Mrs Timpson. How’s your husband doing?”

As she started going on about her husband, I took the boiled kettle off the stove and pulled out two cups, along with some tea and an infuser. Pouring the boiling water into the cup through the leaves, I then went on to crush up the bud I had cut. Adding that to one of the cups, I passed that one to Mrs Timpson and sat down with my own cup.

“Drink that and see how you feel.”

“Thank you dearie.”

She drank the tea, continuing to talk about her husband.

Right at the end of the story she was waffling on when she suddenly put her hand on her back.

“Oh my, the pain has gone! I feel 20 years younger!”

“Good to hear. I’m always happy to help, you know that. So next time, don’t hesitate okay?”

After she had finished her tea and after she had finished telling me all about number 9 who painted their shed blue, I smiled and showed her out the door, shutting it as soon as she left.

Looking back at myself in the mirror, I waved my hand again and I was back in my comfy clothes, and I went about my day.

I enjoyed spending time with the people from the village, but their lives weren’t particularly interesting. Always the same ‘my husband saw a robin’ or ‘did you hear the post office was busy on Tuesday?

Whilst I loved living in solitude, outside the little village of Basinwall, I couldn’t help but feel like the Witches in the city had much more interesting stories to listen to. But I could never live there again, I chose this life. The villagers led very boring lives, whilst the Witches from the city were ambassadors, diplomats, and celebrities. They often went out and got drunk, fighting demons and saving people’s lives. I, on the other hand, had guests with such riveting stories such as they ‘may have had their garden gnome stolen by a teen’, or ‘a gate got blown down!

Instead of the normal life for witches these days, I chose to live on the outskirts of a quiet little village in England, both for privacy and safety. I mean, I got on well with the fae folk whenever I visited the city, but I didn’t get on well with other magic users. They were often way too full of themselves and looked down on me for choosing the ways of old.

-------------------------------------------------

You see, centuries ago, witches were often elders of a village who had the gift of magic. They were often sought out to fix problems for the community, whether it was helping crops grow, healing the sick and injured, helping with discussions and disagreements, whatever the people needed. We didn’t lead, but we were important when it came to a village’s health, prosperity and growth. And people looked up to us for that, revered us even.

Over time, as towns grew, that role became more demanding and more important. But at the same time, the number of witches born started increasing. It used to be that each village had its own witch. But eventually there were multiple witches per village.

Then cities started forming and witches started becoming diplomats and guardians, basically any very important positions of power within the city. They started working to further their own paths rather than help others. They became more and more selfish, often favouring power over empathy. The formation of the Council eventually united all of the witches into one powerful force, but they began to forget their roots.

There was a point that most witches saw little acts of help, for example healing an old woman’s sore back, as ‘unworthy of their talents’. They became celebrities in their own way, often being idolised for their gifts and looks, but never worthy of such devotion.

These days they graced magazine covers, hosted big arena events, signed autographs and got drunk at parties. They flaunted their magic, often in dangerous ways. But they never learnt their lesson, as the Council would just clean everything up and brush away the evidence, acting like nothing had happened.

But that’s what this society had become. Witches had no humility. Even from a young age, witches were expected to become powerful and famous. All that pressure, all the expectations... it’s no wonder they grew up selfish and vain.

At a young age, anyone identified as a witch would be assigned a more experienced witch to be their tutor. They would act as their guardian, support system, and guide as they taught them how to wield the magic they now had access to.

You couldn’t ask for a different tutor. A tutor could choose a different student, but if you didn’t like your tutor... well you were shit out of luck.

My tutor was some cranky old hag who was some old movie star whose career had shrivelled up decades before. She was the kind of person who loved reminding me that I would amount to nothing and I hated that about her. But because of that, I learned the power of positive reinforcement. I swore to myself if I ever took on someone, I wouldn’t be like her.

At 31 years old, I was the right age and had the right experience to take on an apprentice, but I was isolated from the community and excluded from the inner circles. So I have never been given the opportunity to take someone on. Because of this I spent most of my time working on my plants, helping the residents of the village, or visiting friends.

Not like I’d want one of the witches you see in all the magazines anyway, none of them are worth training.

I know because I used to be like that. I was a stuck-up little Witch-in-training in the city, tutored by one of the best living witches. I partied, I got into fights, and I drank way too much. I got a few telling offs by the Council, but as I was one of the up and coming rising stars, I could do no real wrong in their eyes. But over time I felt empty. I felt hollow. I felt like I was just pretending to be like every other witch.

After a lot of soul searching and travelling, I realised what I wanted.

Part of what I wanted was to have a quiet life somewhere out in the countryside, near a little village, doing what we witches used to do. I wanted to get closer to nature, as that had always been my strongest affinity when it came to magic.

-------------------------------------------------

All witches have magic. Any witch can learn any spell. Some are more difficult than others, but they are still available to all. What makes each witch different is their affinity. Usually inherited from a parent, an affinity is just a natural talent for one aspect of magic. Sometimes a witch can have two affinities, one from each parent. But it’s rare. I’m one of the few.

Fire, nature, earth, air, water. All the elements could be an affinity, but there were plenty more.

Some witches have a rarer affinity. Like augmentation, healing or self-regeneration. It doesn’t mean all witches can’t do those kinds of spells, but those with an affinity have a distinct talent for spells in that category. I, for example, gained one of my affinities from my father, his nature based affinity. I find I can connect with plants and animals more easily than any other witch.

-------------------------------------------------

So in the end, I left my old life behind. The gossip magazines wondered where I went, the Council were furious. There was an incident with them but I ran as fast and as far away as I could. I didn’t care anymore. I built this house on the edge of Basinwall and have been happy since. Well, mostly happy.

I couldn’t go back to my old life. I had severed all connections to it. My tutor disowned me, the Council hated me, and the community looked down on me and snubbed me.

But I lived in my own little cottage, in peace, and could focus on helping people. I had what I had fought for. Mostly.

-------------------------------------------------

I dragged my feet through the house.

I had done my good deed for the day, helping Mrs Timpson with her back. But today an air of melancholy surrounded not only myself, but the house. So I whisked my hand a bit, conjuring a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on my front door.

The people from the village were thoughtful and friendly, and whenever I got like this, they’d be understanding and leave me be for the day. They tried to offer their support, but we all knew, even myself, that there was nothing they could do to help me.

I needed some time to myself. To clear my head a bit. To try and focus on something.

But every time I tried to focus, my body wandered that bit closer to the bare wall between my bedroom and the spare bedroom.

Giving in to my feelings, I drew an outline in the air in front of the bare wall with my hand.

A door appeared and I walked through.

This room hurt my heart every time I entered, and because of that, I hadn’t been in here for a while.

But for some reason, it was now calling to me.

Running my hand over the plush fabric of the animals, all stood to attention along the shelf in a neat line, I couldn’t help but feel like I would never find that missing piece to this room.

It should bring me happiness, love... but instead it was just empty, devoid of joy. Until I could fill that piece that was missing, it was a reminder of the loneliness I felt. Not only in this house, not only in this village, but in this world.

I took in the scent that never left this room. When designing it, I made sure that approximately half of the time you’d be able to smell it. Just a simple enchant. That’s all it took.

Running my fingers over the wooden beams circling the bed, I couldn’t help but wonder if I had made a mistake in leaving the city.

It wasn’t easy leaving that life behind. I fought tooth and nail to get where I am today. And I won’t let anyone take that away from me. I know I’m still missing something, but at least I know what I’m missing this time. The cravings became stronger every day. Caring for the plants only satisfied me so much.

But it was difficult living in isolation in a tiny village, how was I supposed to find the thing I needed?

I just had to be patient. I’d find it eventually.

One day I’ll find that piece I am missing.

Very interesting and very exciting so far.

I am curious what the reason was why she left all that behind and she became an outcast.

I am also curious when she finally finds what she is looking for.

Chapter 2: City Life

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!” I yelled, as giddy as a kid.

I banked left, narrowly missing a building.

“Careful Noelle!” Alex yelled.

“Careful won’t win me the race!”

I forgot how fun it was to ride a broom. The rush of the air, the funny feeling in your tummy when you make a sharp turn, the constant feeling that you’re going to fall off at any moment...

I mean yeah it was fun... but so was a convertible! Still... I enjoyed the rare session on a broom. It was very... retro.

“You won’t win if you die!”

“Then I’ll just not die. Anyway Alex, must dash! See you at the finish line!”

I dashed off, zooming past my friend, nearly knocking him off his broom.

I needed to gain on my other two friends. I couldn’t lose this race.

-------------------------------------------------

We had made a bet to see who could race to the other end of the city on a broom the fastest. Winner gets to choose what we eat tonight. Loser has to pay for it all.

And I had no intention on losing. Not even coming second or third. I was going to win. Like I always do.

Stella and Willow agreed, whereas Alex initially tried to argue that it was dangerous and that he didn’t want to race.

But as soon as Stella froze my feet to the floor with her wand, racing off with Willow in pursuit, Alex saw his opportunity to not come last for once, and dashed off, apologising as his feet left the floor.

I drew my wand from my leather jacket, and after quickly melting the ice with a quick burst of fire, making sure not to damage my skirt or my boots. I conjured a broom and jumped on it, setting off as fast as I could.

Stella was a pretty powerful witch, but terrible on a broom. Willow was the complete opposite of Stella. And Alex... well being one of the few male witches, Alex was often making the small minority look bad.

I, on the other hand, was excellent at everything.

I was a powerhouse... in the body of a 5’6, scrawny young woman. Physically I looked weak, but that just meant my enemies often underestimated me. My shoulder-length, mousey brown hair was often tied back into a ponytail so it wasn’t in my face whilst fighting. And because I had beautiful blue eyes and a youthful face, I was the perfect amount of ‘cute’ for all the magazines that loved to feature witches.

I was the next ‘up-and-coming star’ according to not only the media, but also the Council. There was even talk of me potentially becoming a Council member later on in my life if I worked hard enough.

The main problem holding me back right now is my attitude and my temper. Or at least that’s what my tutor told me.

And the tutor before him.

And the tutor before her.

And the tutor before her.

And the tutor before them.

And so on.

Okay, so I’ve had a lot of tutors. And I’m 29. I shouldn’t need a tutor by now, but apparently until I ‘mature enough’, the Council will keep sending me tutors.

And then they will keep quitting.

I was on my seventh tutor now? Or was it eight?

I didn’t care, I was popular, the media loved me, and the people loved me. I had wealth, power, popularity... who cares if I couldn’t stand up to the Council’s standards? Not a witch alive can kick my arse, except those five that made up the Council of Witches.

Sure, I didn’t have two affinities like some witches, but I didn’t need two. My father gave me my affinity for light, and that meant I could wield some pretty powerful spells effortlessly.

My tutors never understood my potential. Or at least they didn’t seem to, often giving up on me, leaving when I didn’t show up for training too many times in a row.

But hey, I didn’t need them. Okay... maybe I needed them to allow me to take the exams. But they needed me more. Without me they were just some second-rate witch. Their loss I guess.

I, however, was one of the most powerful witches in this country.

And here I was, currently in third place.

-------------------------------------------------

Alex was so far back now I couldn’t see him. And I was gaining on Stella.

Her wonky manoeuvring meant I could catch her on the corners. And I knew the streets coming up were windy and long, meaning it was the perfect opportunity to overtake her.

‘And the perfect opportunity for payback...’

As soon as she hit the first corner, she banked hard, and I threw a bolt of light in her direction. I didn’t aim directly for her, I aimed just ahead of her and shut my eyes.

The bolt exploded, releasing a flash of light, blinding Stella and causing her to plummet to the ground and crash into a large bush.

“That’s what you get for the ice trick!” I shouted as I flew overhead.

‘Two down, one to go!’

As Stella started rubbing her eyes, trying to get her vision back, I raced off, trying to catch up with Willow.

As I got faster and faster, I saw the blonde hair of the last of my competition, and put all my effort into pushing forward.

“FUCK OFF NOELLE! I DIDN’T CHEAT! LET ME WIN FAIR AND SQUARE!” yelled Willow.

‘Okay then. I won’t cheat. But I won’t let you win!’ I thought to myself, draining all the energy from myself to push myself as fast as I could go.

“Wait, Noelle! Don’t! You’ll push yourself too hard!”

I didn’t care.

I wasn’t going to let her win.

I won’t let anyone win.

I can’t let anyone win.

I have to be the best.

I have to show everyone.

I overtook Willow, shooting off ahead, not only rapidly losing control of the broom, but also my consciousness.

As I passed the agreed upon finishing line, two large skyscrapers on the other side of the city, everything went black and I went crashing to the ground.

-------------------------------------------------

“Noelle, you okay? Noelle? Speak to me!” shouted Alex.

“Did I... Did I win?”

“You idiot! Of course you did! But you nearly killed yourself doing it!” Stella fumed.

“Worth it...”

I smiled and lay back on the ground, looking up at the sky.

I pushed myself way too much, and I’d pay for it tomorrow. But it was worth it. I won. I always do. No one can beat me.

“So I get to pick the food, right?”

“After that, you should be in bed, resting for a week!” Stella loved trying to boss me around.

‘If seven (or eight) tutors can’t control me, neither can she. I love her to bits, but she gets so frustrated by my attitude. She’s not much better, if she was in my shoes, she’d act the same way!’

“Not bed. Burgers. I choose burgers.”

Alex augmented his strength with a bit of magic and lifted me up onto his back, carrying me froggy style.

‘Hehe, this is fun!’

“Wheeee!” I said. I was a bit light headed at this point, after expending so much of my own energy winning the race.

“Let’s go grab some burgers, then we’ll get you back to your room.” He sighed.

-------------------------------------------------

Arriving at the burger place around the corner from the house we shared, Alex set me down as carefully as he could into the window seat of one of the booths. He sat opposite me, whilst Stella and Willow sat at the ends.

Alex ordered and paid for the food for all four of us, being the loser and all, and we sat there waiting.

“Noelle, you need to start being more careful. You’re going to kill yourself one of these days.” Alex was always so concerned.

All my friends were. But they didn’t understand.

“Oh shush... I’m thankfully perfect you fine!”

‘Wait... no.’

“Somehow she made more sense than she usually does.” Stella joked.

“Oh leave her alone. She only did that because you froze her feet! You cheated!” Willow nudged her.

“Oh poor Willow. You know if it was a fair race she would have destroyed us!”

“Yeah but that way she wouldn’t be feeling like this!”

“D’aww, does Willow care for ickle Noelle?”

My cheeks started turning red and my face warmed up.

“Oh my god, you do! Both of you!”

‘No! Wait! I don’t like Willow! I don’t care if she likes me! I... I...’

I collapsed, face first, onto the table.

The smell of burgers and chips woke me up.

“Is your friend okay?” said the waitress.

“Yeah, she’s just pushed herself a bit too much today, thanks.” Alex dismissed her and prodded me.

“I’m awake. I’m here. Just give me a second. OH hey! Burgers!”

I grabbed the burger and stuffed it into my mouth.

Stella started again with the looks of concern.

“Noelle. Seriously. You’re one of the best witches in the world... yet you can’t even eat sensibly. Honestly we should get you a bib or something!”

“Or a highchair!” Willow joked.

I started blushing, making me shove more of the burger into my mouth as I became more anxious.

“Careful! You’re going to choke!” Stella warned me.

I swallowed the huge bite I had taken and coughed a bit, before looking down at my feet.

“Sorry. For making you worry.”

“Just be careful okay? You’re our friend, so we’ll always look out for you, but you need to be more careful, we won’t always be here for you.”

“Sorry. I... I think I’m gonna go.”

The bad thoughts were returning. I needed to get out. I needed to get some fresh air.

“Noelle? Are you okay?” Willow asked.

I pushed her away, out of the booth and onto the floor as I dashed out and ran for the exit.

“Noelle? Where are you g...?” Alex yelled.

But it was too late, I was already out of the diner, conjuring a broom and taking off before he could finish his sentence.

-------------------------------------------------

I landed clumsily on an empty rooftop in the middle of the city.

It was quiet up here.

Peaceful even.

Sure, you could hear the bustling traffic below, but up here I could breathe.

Taking deep breaths, I tried replenishing my energy as best I could.

‘That burger would have helped a lot more than just breathing... but I needed to get out of there.’

“What the fuck is wrong with me? Why am I like this?”

I put my head in my hands and cried.

I hadn’t cried like this in a long time, but the pressure had been building up for a while now and everything in the diner caused it all to come crashing out.

I wanted to scream.

I wanted to throw things.

But that would make me no better than a baby.

And that’s the last thing I need people to think of me as.

Even if it keeps happening every few nights.

No. I needed to get out there and kick some arse. Vent my frustrations and emotions.

So I quickly pulled out my tablet from my bag and checked for any sightings.

Apparently a woman had had an interaction downtown in an alley. Perfect.

Forcing myself up, I grabbed my broom and jumped off the building, shooting off towards the location.

Each use of magic made me feel more and more drained.

‘Next time, bring my convertible!’ I reminded myself.

-------------------------------------------------

I descended into the alley, spotting a dark figure rummaging through the crates stacked at the side of the building.

“Well well well... what is a demon doing looking through someone’s trash?”

The monster turned around, baring its teeth at me and its horrifying visage burned into the back of my mind. It looked like your typical demon. Dark red skin, horns, yellow eyes, the lot. Scary little fuckers really if you’re not prepared or if it’s your first interaction with them.

‘Great, one of the dumb feral ones. Makes this even easier.’

I smiled and grabbed the wand from my jacket. Pulling it back, charging a simple light spell, I thrust forwards, pointing it at the demon.

...and nothing happened.

The demon sensed its opportunity and swiped at me, missing me by an inch, but causing me to stumble backwards into a pile of trash.

It growled at me and for the first time in my life I felt powerless and helpless.

That’s when a spear of ice flew through the air, piercing the demon right through the shoulder, causing it to cry out in pain.

“GET BACK!”

I had heard someone scream at the beast, a woman by the sounds of it, but at this point my vision had gone a bit blurry so I couldn’t make her out.

Another spear of ice formed from the puddle on the floor, impaling the demon and lifting it up off the ground.

It was now helpless.

It was begging for mercy at this point, but none was shown by my saviour as they formed a large hook on their hand made of ice, piercing the demon through its heart, causing it to dissolve into nothing.

“Are you okay sweetie?”

I focused my eyes as best I could, trying to make out the face of the woman who had saved me.

It was a woman with silver hair and bright blue eyes that sparkled. She was in a typical witch’s robe but underneath she was dressed in combat boots, jeans and a band tee.

“Oh dear. Come on sweetie, let’s get you cleaned up, shall we?”

“Huh?”

“Your skirt sweetie, it’s soaked.”

“Oh no!” I started panicking, the anxiety in my chest building up, “Not again!”

I quickly took off my jacket and wrapped it around myself before sprinting off down the alleyway, away from the woman who had seen me at my weakest.

‘Please don’t tell anyone. Please don’t tell anyone. I can’t appear weak. I just pushed myself is all. Just... I’ll just get home, change, and go to bed. It’s late now anyway. Yeah, that’s what I’ll do!’

Using what little energy I had, I quickly conjured my broom into my hand and flew off.

-------------------------------------------------

Arriving at our apartment, I parked up outside my bedroom window and opened it from the outside. I could have just teleported myself that short distance, but with me being this weak... I couldn’t risk it. Thankfully I had kept my window unlocked, so I dove in and stripped off my wet skirt and underwear.

“Ugh, during the day now? Come on!”

“Noelle? Is that you?” I heard Stella call from the other side of the room.

“Yeah... sorry. Sorry about before. Just needed a bit of air. Anyway, I’m going to rest, I’m exhausted. I’ll talk to you tomorrow!”

“You okay in there? You sound worried.”

“I’m okay, just tired and trying to get ready for bed. Anyway talk tomorrow, night night!”

I heard Stella walking off, and I resumed changing into some dry clothes for bed.

Suddenly I heard footsteps outside my door.

“Oh and one last thing, the Council want to talk to you first thing tomorrow!”

“Ugh. Okay. Thanks. Goodnight.” I said as I collapsed onto my bed, passing out before I could analyse anything that had happened tonight.

Interesting.

My guess is that the council will send Noelle to our other witch in the middle of nowhere to learn.

And that's just going to be better for Noelle than she wants to admit.

Interesting is this a side effect of over taxing her abilities? Or a stress reaction... I know I've had some mild OBA like symptoms with stress and anxiety but never full accidents... Then again from what I understand it is possible....

She has nightly accidents, but exhausting herself like that caused her to lose control during the day.

Liking this one so far too. Very well done. I couldn't help but think she somehow met the witch from the first chapter. There was no clue to the area of the alleyway or if the other witch was also there to help. The one from the first chapter, I don't think we caught her name only told us about her first infinity so will je interesting to learn of her second.

Chapter 3: Jinx

As I zombie-walked down the hallway to the bathroom, a black shadow dashed across the hallway.

“Jinx? Is that you?”

.....”Meow”.

“Stay out of that room! You know you’re not allowed in there!”

I sealed the door again, causing it to disappear, and in its place was a blank wall like before.

“Stupid cat. Although stupid me too for not sealing it again. Want your breakfast?”

“Meow!” Jinx cried out.

“Sure, you can have some dried food too. But we have to be careful, I don’t want you getting any bigger!”

“Meow.”

“Fine, let’s go sort you out first then.”

Giving up on my trip to the bathroom, I walked down the spiral stairs built into the tree that the house was formed around. Jinx ran ahead of me, leaping down and rushing into the kitchen.

“Happy now?”

....Silence.

He was too busy eating to respond, so I left him and turned the coffee machine on.

Magic can do a lot of things. But for some reason, food and drink just doesn’t taste as good when you conjure it. And whilst I could use magic to instantly boil the kettle and effortlessly create my morning coffee... I loved the morning routine that humans had.

Life would be pretty boring if we did everything with our gifts.

Look at humans for example, they have no magical ability but they still enjoy life and feel a genuine satisfaction upon completing even basic tasks. At some point I figured why not? And ever since, I try to do the basics without magic.

“Meow.”

“Finished Jinx? That was quick!”

“Meow.”

“I don’t know what I’m going to do today, what are you going to do?”

“Meow.”

“Good point. Not much you can do except sleep and explore. Well have fun okay? And don’t be back too late.”

“Meow.”

Jinx left out of the open kitchen window, off exploring the east side of the village for the day. Usually I’d just leave him to it. Having a familiar was nice, but he was a lazy little sod sometimes, and often wouldn’t even help with my studies or experiments.

“So my lovelies, what am I going to do today?” I said, talking to my plants on the kitchen shelves.

“I could go for a walk... Or practice some of the things I’ve been wanting to try... Or call Lily...”

As if by magic... Lily appeared on caller ID as my phone started to ring.

“Lily... I was just thinking about you.”

“I know, I could feel it all the way over here!”

“Sorry. Was I that bad?”

“I could sense your aura from the city... of course it’s bad! We need to do something fun; get you out of this mood. How about we meet up tomorrow? Ashe and I could visit you!”

“That’d be nice! Is he...?”

“I wasn’t going to, but I can if you want?”

“Nah, don’t do it on my behalf. Let him decide.”

“Okay then. So we’ll be around yours at midday. Make sure you’ve got the kettle on. I’ll bring cake.”

“Ooooh cake!”

“I knew that would perk you right up. What are you up to today?”

“No idea Lils. Not really feeling up to helping anyone today... head is a bit too distracted to work on any of my projects... I really don’t know what to do with myself.”

“How about a trip to the city? Maybe that will clear your head?”

“I rarely go anymore. You know how it is.”

“You’ll need to get away from that village sometime, it’s not healthy for you. How about a flight somewhere? I know it’s a bit old fashioned now, but why not go on a little broom ride?”

“Oh, that actually sounds nice... maybe I will!”

“Shit... sorry, got to go. Ashe is crying. See you tomorrow!” Lily hung up and I put the phone down.

The coffee was ready so I grabbed my cup and sat down at the dinner table.

“A flight... that wouldn’t be so bad. Maybe not to the city, but maybe to the coast? Or just around the countryside, let the air flow through my hair...”

After changing out of my pyjamas (and finally going to the bathroom!), I cleaned myself up a bit and put on my witch’s robe over my dress.

“Shit... where’s my hat?”

“Meow!”

On the side table in the hall was my familiar sat next to my wide brimmed witch’s hat.

“Thanks Jinx... hey, what are you doing back?”

“Meow...”

“You want to come riding with me? Okay then, but hold on tight okay?”

Jinx hopped off the table, rubbing against my leg and purring.

Trying not to trip over him, I grabbed my hat and shoved it on my head before heading over to the closet by the front door.

I grabbed my wooden broom, which had gathered dust since the last time I used it.

“Can’t beat the old classic. Conjuring one is nice and all but having one carved from a branch of this tree just makes it... special.”

I looked up at the large tree that the house was built around and smiled.

I loved my little home, it looked like an old school witch’s house, just a bit more modern on the inside. Kitchen, living room, three bedrooms (although one is currently hidden), a bathroom, and the hallway and landing. Living alone I didn’t need much. It was built around a large oak tree that I had nurtured and encouraged from a sapling. It protected my house and I protected the tree.

“Ready Jinx?” I closed the front door and held out the broom in my hand, letting go and letting it hover there in place.

I positioned myself on the wooden broom side saddle, and Jinx jumped up in front of me.

“Meow!”

Launching into the air, the wind flowing through my hair, the rush of adrenaline... I realised how much I needed this.

As the house got further and further away, I looked forwards to the horizon and sped off, not thinking about where I was going.

-------------------------------------------------

The scenery was beautiful. Expansive forests of green and brown filled my view as I looked down, watching the trees blur due to the speed I was travelling at.

Jinx looked like he was having the time of his life, his eyes darting from landmark to landmark.

“So Jinx... where to? West or east?”

“Meow.”

“West it is then. If I remember correctly, there’s a little village there. Why don’t we stop off and get an ice cream?”

“Meow.”

Yes, I’ll get you something too...”

-------------------------------------------------

Bits of grey and white started to appear, standing out sharply against all the natural colours of the forest.

‘That must be the village. I can’t even remember what it’s called it’s been so long!’

Slowing down as soon as I was above the village, I noticed a lot of people staring at us.

‘I wonder what their deal is...’ I thought to myself as we landed outside of a corner shop.

Parking my broom, I left Jinx on top of it to guard it.

“Stay there Jinx, I’ll only be a few minutes.”

Walking into the shop, I was surrounded by everything a local shop would need. Milk, bread, sweets, food tins, you know... just basics that people in a village may need. That and magazines.

I looked at the rows of magazines, noticing at least half of them had witches on the front covers.

‘Ugh. It’s all about being famous these days. I definitely don’t miss this life...’

As my eyes slowly drifted from cover to cover, one in particular caught my eye.

Picking it up, I started reading the front cover.

‘Noelle Teimlo. Elesphia’s Shining Star!’

‘The girl on the cover is... cute. Something about her face... I can’t put my finger on it, but... nah.’

The featured witch looked to be around my age, with brown hair and cute blue eyes. I had heard of her before, even seen her on TV and in magazines, but I never noticed just how cute she was before.

‘She’d look cute in my room, sucking on...’

I stopped myself from going down that rabbit hole.

Putting the magazine back, I tried putting the young woman to the back of my mind, focusing purely on getting back to my mental health day.

I got to the freezer at the back of the shop and picked out an ice lolly, taking it to the counter.

“Ummm... hi there Miss...” said the young man behind the counter. He looked barely over 18 with short brown hair and a bit of fluff on his chin that I suppose was facial hair.

“Hi...” I said awkwardly.

“Umm... are... are you....”

“A witch? Yes.”

“Oh! That’s neat! We don’t get witches around here!”

“Really? You don’t even have a local one?”

“My grandma said we had one when she was a little girl, but they moved to the city shortly after.”

“That’s a shame. Well it was nice meeting you. Can I just pay for this please?”

“Yes! Yes, sorry, of course! Sorry for keeping you from your important duties.”

“Oh don’t worry, it’s just my day off. Taking a nice ride around the countryside and thought I’d get an ice lolly when I saw your town.”

“But... it’s January Miss?”

“And? Doesn’t stop me from enjoying it, does it?”

“No... I guess not.”

I could see the boy wanted to ask me some questions, and I figured I had nothing better to do...

“Go on then. Ask away.”

“Really?” his face lit up.

“Really. You’ve got 5 minutes.”

“Oh! Umm... thank you Miss Witch.”

Instead of correcting him, I pointed at my wrist, trying to indicate to him to get a move on.

“Firstly... what’s it like being a witch?”

“It’s fun. Next question.”

“Oh. Umm... why are the trees all green, yet it’s January?”

“Your village must be close to fae folk. They like to keep the forests green throughout the year, no matter the weather. The village where I live is very much the same, however that would be down to me, not fae folk.”

“Oh that’s cool!” he looked genuinely interested, which was kinda cute. For a boy.

“Oh oh oh!”

“What? This is your last question, my cat is probably getting impatient, sorry.”

“What do you think of Noelle? She’s awesome isn’t she?”

“She’s a powerful witch from what I’ve heard. Cute too.”

It took me a second to realise I was blushing, so I quickly resumed my stoic demeanour.

“Oh I guess she is... ummm... do witches date?”

Now I was flustered.

“Sorry, I answered three. Have a nice day!” I said, throwing down some coins and leaving with my ice lolly.

As I walked out of the shop, Jinx sat there staring at me.

“Meow.”

“I was having a chat with the boy who works there. Stop judging me.”

“Meow.”

“No, I didn’t get you anything. There wasn’t anything in there for you! Unless you wanted some bread or some chewing gum?”

“Meow!”

“I’ll get you something when we get back, okay? I think we should get back.”

I wanted to be alone right now. Seeing that girl’s face and thinking about how cute she’d look dressed in...

-------------------------------------------------

Landing back in the village, Jinx hopped off my broom.

“Meow.”

“Fine, I’ll make you your favourite. Go wander, but make sure you’re back in time for dinner.”

Jinx huffed and walked off into the fields.

“Fussy little thing.”

“Dearie, it’s lovely to see you!”

“Oh Mrs Timpson, how can I help you today?”

“Oh dearie, I’m not here for anything from you. I’ve come to give you a little gift.”

“For me? You didn’t have to!”

“No, but you have done so much for us. You keep the village looking lovely and vibrant. You help us all with our little problems, so this is just a little sign of appreciation that is long overdue.”

“Well thank you Mrs Timpson.”

She handed me a little wooden box. It looked like a little keepsake box that you’d have for a baby. It was carved to look like a simple block with letters on each face, very much like a toy a baby would play with. It looked old.

“I bought this decades ago for my first child. She’s now had her third grandchild and I figured it would be better off with someone else.”

“Oh no, this is too much!”

“Don’t be silly dearie, one day you’ll find someone and you’ll have a baby of your own. Save it for their nursery.”

“Are you sure?”

“Please take it dear, I won’t hear no for an answer.”

“Thank you Mrs Timpson, I really appreciate it.”

As I entered my house, I shut the door and fell back against it, falling to the ground and bringing my knees up to my chest.

As I clutched the little keepsake box in my hands, I couldn’t help but feel the emptiness and sadness return.

I sat there, tears running down my face as I wondered if I would ever find what I was looking for.

Some of us (others closer than some) have been almost spot on with theories and for me at least I don't want to spoil things and just see where the story leads.

TBH I wasn't sure if I would like the story although I had no doubt it would be greatly written. It is very well written so far and I am enjoying the heck out of it.

I'm really glad people are enjoying it! I was worried about posting a non-DD story here, especially seeing as it's only my second story, but I'm glad people are enjoying it. I know people who have early access are really enjoying it, and it makes me so excited! I've even been planning the next 3 stories a bit lately!

Chapter 4: Tutors

Waking up, feeling recharged, I threw the duvet off my bed and jumped out, ready to start the new day.

Until I felt the clammy feeling between my legs and realised I had done it again.

“Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.”

I took a deep breath.

“At least I can just do... this!”

Having had recharged, I grabbed my wand from my bedside table and whisked it over my bed, completely erasing any sign of my accident. Looking down, I followed the same motion and my pyjamas were fresh and clean, and the clammy feeling was gone.

“Why does this keep happening every morning? I keep trying spells to get rid of it, but every morning it returns!”

“NOELLE? ARE YOU FINALLY AWAKE?”

Stella’s voice boomed through the apartment. This is the problem with living with witches... one little spell and they can amplify their voice, turning into one human-sized megaphone.

I lifted my wand and thought about what I wanted to cast.

‘Hmm... yes... wait... no... hmm... oh I know!’

I waved my wand and went about getting ready for the day.

As I walked into the kitchen, I saw Alex and Willow eating breakfast by the counter. They waved at me as I walked around the corner, waving back at them.

Stella stood there, waiting for me. And she did not seem amused.

She pointed to the little spell I had cast minutes ago and I couldn’t help but giggle, which in turn caused Alex and Willow to giggle too.

In her mouth was a large adult sized dummy with ‘Mute button’ written on it.

“Mmm mmmmm mmmm mm mmmmm?”

I pulled out my wand and undid my spell, causing her to sputter and get the feeling in her mouth back.

“That wasn’t funny Noelle!” she yelled at me.

“I mean it was kinda funny...”

“Noelle, that’s the third time you’ve conjured something babyish as a prank. Are you trying to tell us something? Are you pregnant?” asked Willow.

I blushed.

“No, I’m not pregnant. I was... I was just thinking about how I could mute her and that popped into my head. ANYWAY...” I changed the subject quickly, “any idea why the council want to speak to me today?”

Stella dished out some breakfast in front of me.

“I bet you’ve been given another tutor. We’ve been taking bets on when he quits. Willow says 3 days. Alex says a week.”

“What about you?”

“A day. At most.”

“Challenge accepted!”

“One day you’ll not see it as a challenge. One day you’ll find a tutor who will actually put you in your place and help you unlock your potential.”

“I’m already pretty powerful Stella, I don’t need some hack witch to tell me how to cast basic spells!”

“Well have fun breaking this one. But remember this... you’ll never become a council member if you don’t learn a little humility and actually accept a tutor.”

“Sorry Mum!” I said teasingly, grabbing a slice of toast and leaving the house before she could lecture me further.

Hopping into my shiny red convertible, I threw the crusts from my toast out the car. Pulling out my wand, I pointed at the crusts and they disappeared.

“Not going to give Stella a reason to bitch at me again, especially not for something stupid like littering!”

Starting the car, hearing the roar of the engine, I felt normal again and the accident this morning was instantly forgotten about.

“Better go see what the council want. And if it’s a new tutor, I need to get rid of him as quickly as possible, I’ve got a photo shoot at 4. I can’t be late, that’s going to pay for my new wand.”

I pushed the pedal to the floor and the tires screeched before I raced off to the other side of the city where the council was located.

“Miss Noelle Teimlo!” The guard announced ahead of me.

I walked through the large ornate stone doors and into the centre of the circular room.

Five seats sat around the stone table that circled half of the room, and each one was occupied by a different council member. They all looked at me, giving me the same look they give me right before they assign me a new tutor, knowing full well I’ll drive this one away too.

“Teimlo. Good to see you arrived on time. For once.”

The youngest of the five, Adeline, was in the leftmost seat. Even being the youngest, she was around 80, although you would never believe she looked a day over 35. She had fiery red hair and matching eyes. The hothead of the group, she had the affinities to match. I had heard she could scorch an entire town to rubble and cinders with the flick of her wrist.

“Hi there hun, it’s lovely to see you!”

Isabella was the next most powerful, sitting on the far right. She looked the friendliest of the bunch, we would often joke how she looked like a daycare worker or a nanny, often wearing colourful outfits and putting her brown hair into a bun, but we knew she was possibly the most vicious too. With an affinity for blood magic, she had a sadistic streak a mile long, hidden behind her bubbly personality.

“Miss Teimlo. You know what this is regarding. Sit down.”

Logan was sat next to Isabella, and being the only male on the council, he had a lot of expectations thrust upon him. Stella would often call him the silver fox, because he was an older gentleman, often well dressed in suits, with grey streaks in his hair. The council were much older than they looked, but apparently Logan didn’t want to look too young. And he wasn’t cruel or anything like the other two, but he was very old fashioned when it came to discipline.

I sat down on the chair that appeared behind me.

The second in command was sat next to Adeline on the left. Aria was nicknamed ‘The Ice Queen’, and for good reason. Not only did she have expert control over all things frozen, she had the icy cold temperament too. She rarely spoke whenever I met with the council, often staring daggers at me and silently judging me. This was one of those times.

“Noelle. Again?” said the person in the middle.

And the head honcho, the big cheese, the don, the commander, the person in charge... was Victoria. Think judgemental mother figure mixed with a bitchy CEO. That’s what you’re dealing with when it comes to Victoria. Often spouting ‘what is best for you’ and all that nonsense, she tried to act like she was everyone’s mother, when we all knew she just loved being controlling.

She was six foot without heels, but you couldn’t catch her dead not wearing them. Blonde hair and the most expensive glasses and suits money can buy... she just exuded power and influence. It was never a good thing to get on her bad side, so even I behaved more than usual whenever I had a meeting with her.

And I quickly learned the most important thing when dealing with her. NEVER call her Vicky.

“Is... is this another meeting to assign me another tutor?”

“You guessed correctly. You’ve been through so many, and every time we ask what the problem is, why you drive them away.” Logan answered.

“I just don’t see how they can help me become more powerful.”

“Control and discipline. They will help you focus your power and allow you to increase it over time. But you would know that if you actually stuck with a tutor.” Victoria seemed genuinely upset with me, which made me feel a little bad.

“Yeah yeah. I know. Let’s just get this over and done with. Who’s the unlucky sap now?”

“I am” said a figure from behind me. He walked up and past me, turning round and staring at me.

It was some guy dressed in a black robe and suit, with a cane that I could feel magic emanate from. He wore the most ridiculous looking fedora and it took everything in me not to laugh at this guy.

Problem was... that still wasn’t enough.

“HAHAHAHAHA! This guy? Fucking fedora-wearing nerd here? You really expect me to learn from this douche?”

“MISS Noelle. You will keep being assigned tutors until you have shown adequate control and discipline, at which point we will stop bothering you! So follow Mr Greyson to your first lesson.” Logan was getting angry, which shocked me a bit because he’s usually calm and controlled.

“So come on then, get your butt up and let’s go to the training room. Up and at ‘em missy!” Mr Fedora said.

I refused to say his name. Especially after calling me ‘missy’.

“So, let’s see what you’ve got...” he said, taking off his robe and fedora to reveal slicked back hair that had way too much gel in.

“You want me to go all out?”

“Do your worst little girl.”

I clenched my fists.

I could see he was preparing to cast a defensive spell, probably some kind of magic counter.

‘Let’s see if I can’t break it...’

I withdrew my wand and watched as he cast a counter spell, just waiting for me to cast something.

You see, I’m a powerful witch. I’m clever. I know what I’m doing. I could easily go without a tutor. And I’d show this guy just how ‘little’ I am.

I looked around the room, taking in the surroundings.

It was a large hall with a stage and seats around the edges, grand wooden balconies surrounding the centre of the room. And in the middle, the hall had a large wooden square on the floor, resembling a chess board. This was the training area. Spells could be cast safely here without disrupting or destroying the rest of the room.

But I knew a loophole.

Quickly flicking my wand in his direction, he prepared for an attack.

But nothing happened.

He started looking puzzled, just waiting for me to make my move. What he didn’t see was the large piano from the stage fly right towards him, straight through the magical barrier.

The barrier was made to stop offensive magic. I had simply given the piano a little... push.

He noticed my eyes flicker to the oncoming piano and he turned his head quickly, preparing a spell in front of him to negate the kinetic energy of the flying object.

The piano was already in motion, all it needed now was a little change in course, so I created a portal between Mr Fedora and the piano, watching the instrument pass through.

“Where the fuck did it go!” he screamed.

He looked all around him.

Which was a shame, he should have been looking up.

“YOU DROPPED A FUCKING PIANO ON HIS HEAD?”

Stella was pissed.

I simply grinned.

“Seriously Noelle, what the fuck?” Willow joined in.

“Look, he was a fucking creep. I wasn’t going to put up with him any longer than I have to. The healers have got that job for a few hours now. He’s already requested a new student. Or at least that’s what it sounded like through his broken jaw...”

“So that was like... less than an hour?” Alex asked.

“A new record I think!” I smiled back at him.

There was a knock at the door.

“I’ll go get it.” I said, rushing off to the front door.

In front of me stood Victoria, leader of the council, looking as hot as ever.

“Noelle. We need to talk.”

“Umm... sure, come in...” I said nervously.

I walked through the house to the living room. My housemates all saw Victoria and scarpered into their own rooms, leaving us with some privacy.

“I... am very disappointed in you.”

“Sorry. But he wasn’t a good fit for me anyway, he was a creep.”

“I admit he was a bit... yeah. And he had some rather disturbing views on women. But that still doesn’t fix the problem that we have. You will never find a tutor who is perfect for you. One day you’ll have to accept one and deal with it. It’s not ideal, but we want you advancing with your abilities. Your friends all passed the exam. You show great promise but you lack discipline.”

“Yeah yeah, you’ve given me this speech a billion times!”

“Maybe one of these days you’ll actually listen. You are by far the brattiest witch I have ever met.”

“I’m not a brat. I just... I just don’t appreciate all the losers you’ve paired me up with. I need a real tutor. Like you!”

“I’m not a tutor, you know this Noelle. The council is much too busy to tutor you personally.”

“Then keep throwing all these useless tutors at me until one sticks I guess?”

“We’ll see. But for now, I’m here to tell you that you’re not in trouble for what happened to Mr Greyson. Personally I think your little stunt was genius. Not everyone on the council agrees. But either way, we’d like to see that ingenuity and talent put to use on a special mission.”

“Special mission?”

“I will tell you more of it tomorrow. Rest up and pack some stuff, you may not be home for a while. You’ll travel out tomorrow night after we’ve briefed you.”

“I don’t get a choice?”

“Not this time. And bring your friends. You’ll need all the backup you can get.”

Victoria created a portal and turned to me.

“5pm. Council chambers. Don’t be late.” She said before walking through the portal, it closing as soon as she had gone through.

“Noelle? Is it safe to come out now?”

“Yeah.”

“What was that about?”

“She’s got a mission for us.”

“WAIT, US?” Alex shouted.

“Yup. No other details. 5pm tomorrow at the council chambers. She said pack some basics as we’re heading out of the city.”

“What have you gotten us into Noelle?” Stella seemed pissed. “Oh well. Don’t forget to pack some spare clothes and toiletries. We don’t know what we’re doing or where we are going, we may not be able to conjure anything.”

‘Shit. I’m going to need some protection...’

Honestly this is classic spoiled rich kid shit cranked to 11 and with reality bending abilities thrown in... If they just raised them like normal kids without all the celebrity, pomp and expectations this wouldn't happen... Also why do I have a feeling this mission will involve our other protagonist...?

I also feel like she's not going to live the diapers down after that pacifier stunt...
