willnotwill Posted February 24, 2021 Share Posted February 24, 2021 I should point out that the "butt" isn't the rear end of the pig, it's the area over the front legs. The stuff over the rear leg is the ham. I've been cooking whole pigs for years (everything but the squeal). Link to comment

Cruiser 03 Posted February 25, 2021 Share Posted February 25, 2021 I made pulled pork with a Jack Daniels Apple gravy last weekend,and yes pork butt low and slow 175 degrees for 13 hours. Turned out so juicy and fall apart tender , you didn't need a knife . I buy a hog with a friend and we split it $125 each ,gives me tons of pork to cook with. I like to make pork 'Que with fresh apple cider and Monterey cherries also. Link to comment
