I don't know how much it costs Di to keep this site running, between usage fees, and costs, and everything else. He's asked for financial help. If each of us could contribute $10 per person, then I'm sure that it would help to keep this site here, and running.

I'm afraid that Di won't tell us, but I'd be willing to bet that it's costing him possibly over $100 a month out of his own pocket, or more, to keep this here for us.

I've sent him money in the past, and I've done it again this time, because I want to be able to come here and share my life with others.

If you like that same ability, please contribute some finances to this site, because there aren't too many other places left to go.

I order my diapers from XP Medical. That was one of the sites listed that helps DD. I' m about to the end of my diaper supply so I need to restock. You can count on my help!

I couldn't find the stuff to order from XP Medical, because you need to do it from THIS site, and if you don't, then it doesn't matter to DailyDi.

Thanks to those who have donated! Please keep it coming so I can continue to offer this site.

A while back I posted a short breakdown of this site's costs:

Server Rental (basic server, not including bandwidth overages: $2,760 a year

Server management (support technicions on call to keep server running) $359.88

Message Board Licenses: $174.99 a year

Chat room: $396 a year

That's almost $3,700 a year we need to raise JUST to have the site here. And that doesn't include what I pay for graphic designers, script customization, domain fees, photograpgers for photo sets and more.

I cover a lot of that through our advertising contracts, but we're short right now, and "real-world" issues are preventing me from dipping any further into my own pocket this month.

I truly appreciate any help you can provide and you can be sure that when times are better, you'll see a return on your investment through more content and greater services.

I knew it wasn't cheap, but I had no idea it was that expensive. I knew that advertising covered some of it, but that's a lot of money.

I don't see any reason why I can't send a monthly help, even though it won't be much. If People who used this board simply sent $5 a month via a PayPal account then we could easily cover the differences, I'm sure.

If 10 people sent $5 per month, that's $600 towards the costs. If 100 people sent it, we would be well over the stated requirements, and hopefully would see some cool additions to the site.

DD, I'll be trying to remember to send you $5 a month. I hope everyone else will, too.

well my problem is that i can't pay via the internet, can anyone help me how to do..if so i could even afford this site for dd:P

Kitty if you want to send via the internet and you don't have a credit card, if that's your problem as I am assuming. Simply go to any check cashing place they sell you a debit card for the amount you pay them so if you give them $20 you have a secured $20 credit card, less any fee's I'm sure, then you could safely give online to any of the sites or links that DD has suggested. Hope this helps.

BTW DD, I can't get the info (I can't remember) for my PayPal site, I haven't used it for over a year  I've requested from them my info as soon as I get it all sorted out, you'll get MY donation. :P

I'm not sure of the situation in The Netherlands but I'm almost certain this pre-paid style of Debit Card is not yet available here in the UK. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this can only be used via a bank a/c which of course involves revealing your account details online.

I'm astounded by the amount of money necessary required to run this most favourite of all my the web sites I visit in the ethernet...DailyDi's recent post is truly eye-opening. I'm going to the link he provided to Amazon now!

NB: I'd like to see an postal address we could send monetary donations directly. Is this a possibility in the future?

Yes, I plan to get a post office box to have an address I don't mind plastering on the net :)

I think getting a PO Box where those who chose to support this site can send monetary donations would be a good thing all around for the following reasons:

1. A donation made to your PO Box, rather than one made via a credit card, will realize you more funds. There would be no 2.5% cut by whoever, nor would there be the 30 cent skim from Amazon. I realize that the Amazon programme is a good programme for you, and I'm certainly not knocking it. I'm simply looking for a way for you to maximize the funds realized through whatever donations are made. I think you should keep the PayPal and Amazon options for the convenience of those who desire to pay via credit card.

2. There are those who don't wish to pay through a credit card. All things being equal (ceteris parabus) I'd much rather send off a money donation to a PO Box than deal with a credit card, its inherent security issues over the Internet, and then have to send off the statement when it arrives 3 weeks later. I use credit cards infrequently and only when it's truly necessary to use one.

3. You might receive funds from those who don't have credit cards. I'm certain some of this site's younger members (those 18-24) are currently establishing credit, and may not have the luxery of a credit card at their disposal.

4. Seeing how many UK members we have in here, it is possible that you could receive some really, REALLY valuable currency...the Pound Sterling...it takes nearly 2 US Dollars to get just one of those right now! :) Now...conversion is another thing, with bank conversion fees , but hey, if someone sends you British Pounds, two words of advice: "Take them!"

I hope this all works for you, DD!

I never would have thought that it cost so much to run the site, I hope you can get enough money to keep the site running! As soon as I get my paycheck I am going to send you some money! Good LUCK!!!!

DD, taking their sneaky fees and whatnot into account, is it better for you for us to send through Paypal or Amazon? Obviously I want to minimise the amount that goes into their coffers...

Also, I'm sure I used an affiliate link from here to Secure Personal Care in the past, is that still available too?

Also, could I humbly suggest you sticky this thread? I missed it this morning :-/

Amazon takes the smallest cut, and is 100% private, with Amazon.com appearing on your billing statement, and no way to tell where the money went from there.

Secure Personal Care is an active sponsor of the site, but we don't currently get a cut of sales. So, While it is ALWAYS good to support the companies that support us, in this particular instance it would be better to donate through another mean. Of course, knowing them, they'll probably find a way to help us out when they see this!
