The ABDL public image

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for tips and general ideas on how to build up and improve the abdl community. I'm not a big fan of the way mainstream media has portrayed us and if you Google image "men in diapers" it's not a good look. "Boy in diapers" actually gives results that I would consider child porn. I'm probably a little biased here but "women in diapers" does not produce results that are as unflattering but again "girl in diapers" sends up red flags.

Honestly I get the feeling that the best thing anyone can do is... To do nothing. People have tried going on TV many, many times and despite whether the programs were good or bad, or if they were sympathetic or unsympathetic it has made next to no difference in the way ABDLs are portrayed or thought of. We are a collection of freaks that can be put on TV to try to pop a rating, they have no interest in our community beyond that.

Just go about your regular daily life as normal. If you want people to see ABDL's as "normal" then the best way to do it by being "normal." Going on TV, public stunts and all that other stuff only serve to show people that we are not, in fact, "normal" which of course singles us out for ridicule and judgement.

Don't worry about what other people think of you and your fetish/kink/lifestyle or whatever you want to call it... Accept yourself and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Your wife understood after you explained it to her, why does it matter what other people would think about it?

Kids need a community that will help them understand what they are experiencing but it must be separate from the Abdl (Adult) community.

I totally agree that going on TV is a bad decision.

Just try to be the best person you can be, dont get hung up about it. If someone doesnt want to take the time to try and understand whats going on than fuck em theyre probably simple minded anyways. Dont let it define who you are, let your actions towards others and the world define who you are.

Someone else said that how people react to this says a lot more about them than it does about us, i think this holds true on many things not just this.

That being said most people are mean, facetious, ignorant, and believe themselves to have a higher self worth than they actually do.

Live well.

I know a DL who's a successful musician and actor, pursuing undergraduate studies in a highly technical major.

That's the kind of person I want representing me. If someone like that is a DL, they can't think we're all weird socially inept basement dwellers (and I say that as a weird socially inept basement dweller).

I have only told my ex girlfriend and my wife about ABDL. My ex was more open to things and thought it was exciting to wear in public.

It's all been said before. Given the right person(s) and the right venue(s) we can advance through media exposure. It's just that making this happen is like climbing Everest- very few are truly qualified and even fewer will be successful in the attempt. Far more think they can do it than that :whistling: Each of us finds our own way through this and as long as you hurt nobody else any way that works for you is OK. somewhere in the future ABDL will become tolerated or better in society but that's a long way down the road and I don't expect to see it in my lifetime :(

As far as kids learning, they will, and with all that's available online it's not the problem it once was. Same as with most things it's as much how you say things as what you're saying that can get you the results you want ;) Go forward carefully with knowledge and your eyes open and with luck you'll do OK. Do anything else and you'lll suffer, plus harm other people in the process too :(

Lol, fuck no. You know what happens when it gets out that you are an AB/DL? Your career and more importantly your life as you know it is over. It is not worth it for us, especially because this doesn't really matter that much.

One of the main reasons for sites like this one is that we can get together and swap stories about lifestyles and practices that we like, and we don't have to give a rat's ass about "The $WHATEVER Public Image".

Going to that site shows that the site hasn't been updated in two years (from the looks it hasn't been updated in 10!). I stand by what I said, I wouldn't touch a website that allowed minors on to it. Maybe "immediately" was a bit strong but you certainly get a lot of unwanted attention on you.

I dread to think what sort of people you get in a chat like that. I'm not saying everyone over 18 who goes into chat like that is looking for something illegal, but you will certainly attract them like flies to honey.

The public image of ABDL? Standing headline "60 year old man seen in just a diaper with a pacifier in his mouth carrying teddy bear". Then the usual questions about what makes him tick and the endless rounds of psychobabble

Two words; repeat after me "PRIVATE life" now, go understand what that means and why it is important. Hence; I don't want the public in my bedroom so I don't put my bedroom im the public square. Also, from an anti-drunk driving PSA "Your lifestyle is your business, but if you take it out on the road, it becomes everybody's busienss"

47 years ago, we finally got recognition that 1. everyone had some kind of kink and 2 since some persons, in fact, most persons found some specific kinks objectionable, and since everyone had a right to peaceful use of public space, it was not discussed in public and the display of it, in public, was exhibitionism and the province of wingnuts and pervets, and we needed a modus vivendi so we kept it behind closed doors and were very happy with that. In the late 60's the "old fogies" warned us that the hard core kinksters, i. e. wingnuts and perverts, would try to shove their lifestyle down peoples' throats. It seems they were right

As an individualist and a respector of "personal space" and one who demands the same. There is no benefit to me of ANY "public Image" of ABDL's as being different from other folks

We have a stable situation where each person lives his. her or both, own life hassle-free and what others don't know won't hurt anyone and if you put your business in the street, you hang out a big sign saying "Gawkers and buttinskies welcom". We got a good thing going, why upset the apple cart? And does it occur to you that if you make it a topic of public comment that you infringe on those who are happy to keep it private by bringing the community, as a whole, and therfore its parts, under public, busybody, scrtiny?

As I said before I'm not advocating for public display, TV appearances,

People can do good for us without exposing their identities. There were four people who gave interviews about AB/DL to Cracked a while back. Whether or not they seemed well-adjusted and professional had an impact on how I felt about what they said.

I too had the most positive reactions and experiences with non AB and fetish related persons. For people outside AB/DL a diapered is a medical aid and not a heavily fetishized object. I have anxiety issues and I would rather turn to my little stuffed hedgehog or pacifier than to alcohol and/or cigarettes.

Sometimes I get stress with medical staff in my private surrounding, but non medical people a more understanding.

Yesterday I played on the beach and nothing bad happened.

I almost always have my stuffed animal and pacifier, and often act little. Nothing bad ever happens. In fact, Floppy gets a lot of compliments. Some people even choose to come up and play along, talking to me like a small child. I've even had one person give me a chilish pet on the head (they asked first).

What about me is so different that the doom and gloom posts never happen to me? I get positive reactions constantly... and have even gotten a few grumpy people to smile by making Floppy wave to them. Quite a few people have even wanted to pet Floppy. (If their hygenie is good, I usually let them)

I've got a few person rules on how I conduct myself out in public, and they seem to be working well.

When convenience is a common reason for wearing diapers, it will dilute the ignorance and stupid commentary that currently is associated with diaper-wearing. The regressive side of AB will always be near impossible to explain, but we dont need the public to understand it. We simply need them to break the connection between ABDL and paedophilia and other negative images. ironically, it will be the general public's increased non-medical use of diapers that is most likely to achieve that goal.

As a DL I think this is partly true.

I believe that this is happening, "exposure to 'normal' people in diapers"

The proof is all the adverts on TV these days for diapers for adults, some even going without pants on and being proud of it as a means to get over the embarrassment factor.

Unfortunately I see this as another thing that females can get away with above and beyond what a guy can. If you looked like me someone probably would have called the cops.
