babyvr6
Rules are as follows: 1. Pick just one song from the last 10 years to be your favorite. 2. Give a breif explaination as to why you made this choice. 3. ???? 4. Profit I'll start: Muse - Time is Running Out The reason I chose this song is because it is single handedly responsible for me expanding my musical taste. Before this song, all I would listen to was Classic Rock and Metal. Also some of my happiest moments were spent with this song playing in the background. Link to comment
collegebaby86
Everlong by the Foo Fighters... that or pretty much ANYTHING the White Stripes worked on, maybe Ball and a Biscuit. Link to comment
fluff
Hardest question ever. I could come up with a top 10, maybe even a top 3 at a push...I'll take a stab, Enter One by Sol Seppy. Reason? One of the few songs I've heard in the past years that has actually moved me to tears. Stunningly beautiful song. Link to comment
redneck diaper boy
Lynard Skynrd's "That Aint My America". My favorite part is "You can take your change on down the road and leave me here with mine". The song pretty much reflects my political feelings and it was recorded in 2009. Most of the music I like is pre-1980. "That Ain't My America" LYNYRD SKYNYRD From the Album - "God & Guns" (2009) (Johnny Van Zant, Gary Rossington, Rickey Medlocke, Brett Warren) Sometimes I wanna light up underneath the no-smoking sign Sometimes I wish they'd tell me, how justice got so blind I wish they'd just leave me alone 'cause I'm doing alright You can take your change on down the road and leave me here with mine 'Cause that ain't my America That aint this country's roots You wanna slam old Uncle Sam But I ain't letting you I'm mad as hell and you know I still bleed Red, White, and Blue That ain't us That Ain't My America I was standing there in Dallas Waitin on a plane I overheard an old man Tell a young soldier "thanks" The young soldier hung his head and said "it's hard to believe You're the only one who took the time to say a word to me" And the old man said... That ain't my America That aint this country's roots You wanna slam old Uncle Sam But I ain't letting you I'm mad as hell and you know I still bleed Red, White, and Blue That ain't us That Ain't My America It's to the women and men who in their hands hold a Bible and a gun And they ain't afraid of nothing, when when they're holding either one Now there's kids who can't pray in school $100 dollar tanks of gas I can tell you right now this country ain't AIN'T SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THAT! NO! 'Cause that ain't my America That aint this country's roots You wanna slam old Uncle Sam But I ain't letting you I'm mad as hell and you know I still bleed Red, White, and Blue That ain't us That Ain't My That Ain't My America That Ain't My America That Ain't My America Link to comment
Yvhuce
Craig Morgan: International Harvester. I've lived this song, for the most part. And non-country folk do need the occasional wake-up slap to the face... Link to comment
baby-dandan
Mine would have to be "Last One to Die" by Rancid. Link to comment
Dougie
Nickel Back - "If Today Was Your Last Day" It keeps me thinking about things I still want to do in my lifetime. Link to comment

JDL23
"Holiday" by Green Day. It was the first song of theirs I ever heard, my favorite song of theirs to this day, and it set me into a whole new world of music, leading me to other modern bands like Muse, the White Stripes, and Franz Ferdinand. Hearing it played live at the Forum this past August was a big moment for me. Not to mention its kick-ass sound and awesome lyrics. All in all, a watershed song for me at this time of my life. loopy
Can I have an easier question please? Hmmm I'd have to say High Contrast - Everythings different. He showed that DnB can be soulful and moving, instead of just loud and full of heavy basslines. And this song is probably my favorite of his. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkQVrjQVdsU Link to comment
Guest ilovebunnies
Hmm, I would say "brick by boring brick" by paramore. It reminds me of a girl that lives in a fantasy world somewhat like me. I dont want to end my fantasy world though. The video is clever and the lyrics arent bad. I also like slipknots new song snuff alot. Link to comment
M 90
"A Sun That Never Sets" by Neurosis This is the deepest most spiritually empowering song I ever heard in my life and it was written within the last 10 years. The video: The lyrics: A sun that never sets burns on New light is this river's dawn When to speak of a word so old is to relearn what is known A time to think back and move on Rebuild the loves of lives long gone The blood that flows through me is not my own The blood is from the past, not my own The blood that leads my life is not my own The blood is my strength, I'm not alone Link to comment
square_duck
Well, as far as I am concerned, my most treasured and favorite song that has had any impact on me has been " Run Away Train" by Soul Asylum The first few times I heard it, everything stopped.....I hung on every word, and realized that that song, every word, was about my life, and the very things I felt. I identify with it 1000% I cannot describe how it makes me feel....I have listened to it countless times and every time I cry because of it's truth pertaining to my life: RUN AWAY TRAIN SOUL ASYLUM Call you up in the middle of the night Like a firefly without a light You were there like a slow torch burning I was a key that could use a little turning So tired that I couldn't even sleep So many secrets I couldn't keep Promised myself I wouldn't weep One more promise I couldn't keep It seems no one can help me now I'm in too deep There's no way out This time I have really led myself astray CHORUS Runaway train never going back Wrong way on a one way track Seems like I should be getting somewhere Somehow I'm neither here no there Can you help me remember how to smile Make it somehow all seem worthwhile How on earth did I get so jaded Life's mystery seems so faded I can go where no one else can go I know what no one else knows Here I am just drownin' in the rain With a ticket for a runaway train Everything is cut and dry Day and night, earth and sky Somehow I just don't believe it CHORUS Bought a ticket for a runaway train Like a madman laughin' at the rain Little out of touch, little insane Just easier than dealing with the pain Runaway train never comin' back Runaway train tearin' up the track Runaway train burnin' in my veins Runaway but it always seems the same 1 Link to comment

Green Day had a watershed effect on me too For the first time since the Punk era, here's a super-tight hard-driven band that says what it means about subjects other bands won't touch- without giving a crap what anyone else thinks about that or them I remember the first time I heard them- it was on a college radio station and I was pissed off that my stereo wouldn't go any louder (even though it could be plainly heard 1/8 mile away) I made along-distance phone call to them afterward just to find out who was playing such awesome music! The subjects Green Day covers are far and wide, their sound never gets old, and they don't know how to make a bad song They don't follow a music style, they make one all their own that others try to follow but can't All in all one of the greatest bands ever Bettypooh Link to comment

Elle
I was thinking a bit about music when I stumbled upon this topic, and after some deliberation I gave the honor to "Violet" by Bones Domingo. Why? Graceful Fury. Link to comment
Natey
Dolly Parton's Shattered Image has to be my favorite because I just love how the song always helps me feel better when I am feeling blue and even when I'm happy it makes me more happy Link to comment
Darkfinn
I really like Toby Keith's "American Ride". If you haven't you should watch the music video, it provides a good representation of post 9/11 America. Link to comment
