Afraid Of Buying Diapers At The Store?

Recommended Posts

Im sure alot of people here either are or were paranoid about going to the store and buying there diapers. i know i was.

i personally am not affraid to buy them anymore, i just go in the store and buy them, but to the people who are still worrie

I HAVE A PLAN THAT IS FOOL-PROOF

It is extremely simple, ready?

Go to the Birthday Card Section of the store and buy an over the hill style card, one for old people, after you nab the card which is like $2.00 go to the diaper section and grab your prize and there you have it, if you happen to run into someone you know, just have some idle chit chat and when they look at you weird, show them the card and say, "i have a birthday to go to, and im getting diapers for the person as a joke."

the key thing is you shouldnt worry about buying them, but until you work yourself to this point, this is a great suggestion.

I have that I dont give a shit what you think mentallity, so, i was able to work out my paranoia pretty quick, but i hope this helps some of the fellow Diaper Fans out there.

Enjoy.

Buying diapers in person at a store definatly gets easier the more you do it, but there are still people who get nervous about it.

I've said this before, but one of the easiest ways to buy diapers and divert any suspicion that they are for you is to put some money in an envelope and put the envelope in your pocket before going to the store. Also write a brand and size on a piece of paper. When you go to the store, get a few items for yourself that you might need and when you go to the adult diapers, take out the note with the brand and size on it and look at it before picking up the package. When you check out, tell the clerk you want your stuff rung up separatly and pay for them with money out of your wallet. When the diapers are rung up take the envelope out of your pocket and pay with the money inside. Put all the change back in the envelope and be sure to ask for the recipt, which you also put in the envelope. Even if someone cares, which they won't, this is a foolproof way that makes anyone believe you are just running an errand for someone else, like a relative.

i have no problem going to the store and buying just diapers, as mentioned above, it gets easier each time you go.

but, i do have a solution for getting them over the internet if you dont have/want a credit card, amazon gift cards sold at local stores, no card usage fee for it and access to some "exotic" diapers

i am able to get them once a year without paranoia and this is on new years eve.

someone has to be the new year baby. ^_^

once i said that i lost a bet, however it backfired a bit when the girl asked what the bet was and i stumbled to think of one quickly. so then i had to pretend to have a cold too.

another time i told them it was a joke for a co-worker because for the third day in a row he spilt his drink on his crotch.

i'm not sure i understand who all these cashiers are that are actually asking you abot your purchase, having been a cashier, and also a consumer at stores for well all my life, i've never had a cashier ask me about my purchase, except at the book store when they say "ohh you'll love this book" .... really... how often are these cashiers asking you about your purchase? or are you just so nervous about buying the diapers you feel you have to offer an explanation?

I have to agree, the more stories you have the more likely you are to call attention to yourself. Just make your purchase and go, no one is really paying attention. Now on the other hand if you want to be found out, sure engage the cashier in conversation, tell wild tales or just com clean with it.

Agreed. It definitely gets easier each time you go, and if you pick weird times of the day (i.e. early morning, or late at night) it minimizes the possibility that you will run into someone that you know. Its still possible it will happen, but the odds become much less. Also, telling a story to a cashier is actually more likely to get you to stick in their mind, especially if you shop at the same place repeatedly. Just get your purchase, pay for it, and head out the door like its no big deal. The envelope idea of Rusty's is really good....I've used it myself, and I imagine it would definitely work. Just remember, the more complicated a story the more likely holes are going to get picked in it. After the first few times, you won't have the nervousness lurking in your belly anywhere near as much as you did the first few times.

Who cares if they think they are for me?

Last case I got at the medical suppy store where i get them all the time.

My wife and I walked in asked for them "attends fitted in med size" paid and walked out. Keep in mind lots and lots of guys and gals buy diapers, for them self and others.

Why do you need a full proof plan? can't you just buy them?

Three questions:

1. How many times have you actually run into someone you know at a Drug Store just by coincidence? For me, the answer is never.

2. Do you think a cashier would risk embarrassing both themselves and a customer by saying anything to someone who was buying adult diapers? Keep in mind that no one is going to assume that an able bodied young person would be buying diapers for themselves. They will assume that you are running errands for an old person who can't get around anymore ... hence the diapers. And as for Goodnites or baby diapers ... no one, not even a cashier who is secretly ABDL themselves, would be making a safe bet if they wer going to assume that they were for anyone but a child.

3. Even assuming that the cashier could empirically prove that the diapers were for you AND disapproved AND said something, would you willing to let the opinions of a total stranger keep you from the fulfillment and happiness that wearing those diapers is going to bring you? You'd be crazy if you did.

So relax and get yourself some diapers. You'll feel dumb about worrying later.

some great (and very creative) tips there! I especially like the envelope and receipts one! I often (even now) find myself pretending to check a message stored on my phone, or a scrap of paper, before I pick a pack up. It's how I managed to buy my first pack, and I guess it's become a subconscious thing ever since :)

Just to answer to everyone who's saying things like "why do you need to do this?" and "can't you just buy them?" - i think that for some people, it IS embarrasing and difficult. Maybe it's not for you guys, but everyone is different.

At the end of the day, you're right - nobody really gives a damn. But there can be a psychological fear that people might be watching you, or that they think you're a pervert. And however irrational that is, little tips like these might help a few people out, and make it a bit easier for them to buy at the store.

I think first off most drug stores, wouldn't even think twice about anyone including young guys buying diapers, they might even get a little sympathy thinking look at this poor guy he needs to wear a diaper.

I was a little nervous when I started buying for the first time, but after that I didn't care, I was there to get my diaper fix and that is all I wanted to know.

To the people in the stores working, you are just another coustomer, and the only thing they are worried about, just like you, is when am I getting out of here, because I have something to do.

Oh yeah! Well I know a guy who heard from a friend that they read a story in penthouse that this other guy went into store to buy diapers when the all the girls at the resister jumped him and took him into the back to help him change the wet diapers he was wearing. Then stole his pants before sending him on his way :whistling:

Today I went to wallgreens to buy my second pack of diapers, man was it suspensful, i felt like everyone was watching me. But i followed the card idea, but i also bought a magazine (to cover the diapers) and a drink, went up to the prescreption area and asked if i could check out there, the (only) guy there said yes, and he didnt even flinch when he saw the diapers, he was also on the phone which helped me relax a little cause i knew his full attention wasnt on me, but it went much better than my first time, just needed to relax and be confident, and do the right things (such as saying to leave the change in the diaper bag, but not the magazine one)

It gets easier each time you buy. When I first started out it was a bit hard, especially if there was only one check out line open or somthing like that, but now I'm comfortable buying at most stores. Most cashiers wont even give you a second glance whem buying either. When I lived in a larger city that had bigger thrift stores, I would sometimes go to the cashier with one or two shopping carts loaded with 10+ packs of diapers and no one said anything (and and usually there would only be on check out line open  ). If you go to a pharmacy or a medical supply store, sometimes the sales person or the cashier will ask questions so they can better help you. I was at a place the other day buying attends and the lady at the counter ask me if I was a caregiver. I told her I was not. She then ask me if they were for a family member. I said that they were not. She then let the matter drop and rang me up and helped me out with sizing of some plastic pants. I guess the moral is that it gets easier each time and that people dont care.

I don't like the way some of you act as if it's wrong or stupid to feel embarrassed about our diapers. It's not that we're afraid of being ridiculed--for some of us, just being seen, whether we know the person or not, and whether the person appears to care or not, is bad enough. I don't want ANYONE outside the AB/DL world to know I'm into diapers. It's deeply intimate and personal information. Showing people my interest in diapers is a bit like showing them my naked body--and I'd almost rather have them see THAT.

The hands-down best solution to drugstore anxiety is to order online. Not only do you eliminate the awkward scene at the cash register or the risk of being seen, but you can also get better diapers.

Or just wear scrubs. People will assume you're on a professional errand.

The first times I bought nappies from a store, it was when I was around 16, buying dry nites from the supermarket.

Never felt so scared in my life, and had to enter & leave the store several times before doing it.

What I did find helped, as is often mentioned, is having a 'pretend' shopping list.

Of course, no one is actually paying attention to what you are doing / looking at / buying - but it just gives you that little confidence boost to pick up the package and walk to the till.

Since those days, I've only twice bought from a store. I live over seas, and can only get adult products from a specialist disability store.

i don't speak a lot of the local language, which actually helps, as it avoids all the small talk, and the store assistant is more concerned with helping you select a product that 'sussing out' why you are buying them.

Good luck everyone - it does get easier (I hope!)
