  1. I've been 24/7 for almost a year and a half now. During that time, I've taken my diaper bag (which is a somewhat largish backpack) into everywhere from our local sports venues to amusement parks to our ren faire. Every single place has inspected the bag, never once has anyone said anything. In my experience, no security guard will actually take whats in the bag out, thus exposing you to everyone around. Most places I've been to, the most they have is rods that they use to push stuff around in the bag. As far as ethics go, I don't see any problem with it.....its not like you're throwing your diaper wearing in their face. You just happen to be another attendee who is taking responsible care of himself as far as they're concerned. They don't need to know that you don't "need" to wear diapers. Just act normally, like your diaper bag is a matter of course, and there won't be a problem at all.
  2. Greetings All, I'm up in the Garland area, I'm always looking to meet other Ab's/DL's in the Dallas area. Please feel free to send me a PM!!
  3. Kootzkoo, one thing I noticed when I was using the Tranquility ATN brand earlier this year is that right after I wet, there was a kind of sweet smell that I knew for sure was coming from my diapers. It didn't really smell like urine, and I didn't think it was really all that strong, but I did definitely notice it several times right after I wet at work. Usually went away in a few minutes. This could be what other folks are smelling...its not a normal body smell, which could be what attracts their attention. Aside from that, what everyone else said, make sure you're drinking plenty of water (8+ glasses a day) and you change regularly (don't sit around even in wet diapers for overly long), and there shouldn't be that much of an issue.
  4. Definitely agree with everyone else, theres nothing requiring you to use your diapers for both peeing and bowel movements. Even if you did choose to use them for bm, the likelihood of completely loosing control completely is relatively non-existent. I've been 24/7 for nearly a year now, and no way am I anywhere close to loosing control completely, even bladder wise. In regards to people noticing that you are wearing diapers, my advice would be two-fold. First, unless you're being obvious, no ones going to notice. If you're going to wear at work, be aware that you might want to change sooner than complete saturation on you diapers (to minimize the odor). Be prepared wherever you go. 90+ percent of people will never even realize something is out of the ordinary. In regards to the folks you live with though, be completely prepared for them to know. Theres almost no way to hide it completely from them. As Bettypooh said, any time you begin on a new course, there's some hesitation and fear of the unknown, but the only way to find out if its for you is to try it. Ultimately you decide your own experience. Do with your life what you want to do, but know if you have questions, folks who have been there done that are only a question away....theres lots of good experience on these boards that has helped me out a bunch.
  5. Have to agree on the Dry 24/7's....easily the best diapers I've ever tried.
  6. My favorite one was attending our local Ren Faire while diapered. No waiting in long disgusting porta potty lines for me that day . Honestly, once i got over my whole "not wearing out of the house" thing, I've done pretty much everything I normally do when not diapered....
  7. Started as DL, but as time went on drifted more and more toward the AB side of things. Not completely mind you, but definitely enjoy the side bits like clothing, pacis, etc.
  8. If you're interested in Hypnosis, check out www.warpmymindcom. Results are going to be different for everyone, and realistically no file by itself is going to make you wet/mess/bedwet permanently. Its all about what you want and what you are willing to do. I personally enjoy listening to them for relaxation. Feels like I've taken a good nap at the end of it. I've been listening to Sarnoga's Diaper Dependence series, but I really don't know how much effect its really had on me.
  9. I started using these as my primary night/weekend diaper recently. I really like the thickness of the plastic, the way the padding holds it shape, and the amount of fluid it absorbs. I generally change into one of these when I get home from work (around 7PM) and it lasts me until the next morning. I've only had once incident of any kind of leak (and I've used about a full case worth). The tapes hold incredibly well in my opinion, and I don't notice any odor until its REALLY soaked (important issue as I live with 3 other people). Planning on restocking here shortly. After reading here, I'd be willing to bet it was a pinhole leak issue. The diaper was barely wet at all, and the leak was big enough to soak my pants. Was paranoid for weeks after that.
  10. Lets be honest here, we ain't the most patient lot of consumers out there . I've worked inside sales for a manufacturer before, and especially when dealing with Chinese factories, you can NEVER rely on what you are being told in regards to availability timeframes. Our factory was pretty good, but it was owned by our parent company directly. But several times, we had purchase orders delayed for months after they were supposed to arrive because a parts manufacturer either reneged on the order or shipped late. From what I can see with ABU, whats happened is that they've taken factory promises at thier word, and not allowed for sufficient time overrun. The few times I've dealt with them, I've found their customer support pretty good.
  11. Marie, I guess my question to you is: How could they stop you? From what you've said, you're 22 years old, which is well over the legal age of majority in any European/Western country of which I am aware, including England. Unless there is something of the nature that they have to co-sign on a fairly large student loan in order for the bank to approve it, there's nothing they can do to stop you from going. They can pressure you all you want, and make your life a living hell anytime you're around, but it sounds like that's happening anyways. If need be, tell them you have to do this for yourself and let them know that if they can't support you in this its time to go your own way for awhile. Its your life, your dreams, and your future, not your mom & dad's. There's always ways to achieve you're goals, even if the road may not be as easy or rosy as the one we'd like to be on. It may mean having to take a night job while going through university.
  12. Completely true, in regards to the fact that any one could be offended by anything you say/do/wear. Generally speaking though, this is confined to the workplace. You can't be sued (yet at least) for having offended someone outside of the workplace. You may be asked to leave an establishment, or told your business isn't welcome (completely within the law) even if there are no codes of conduct posted at the discretion of a manager. But a random person can't have you arrested/charged/sued because you made them feel uncomfortable by doing something completely legal. On a tangent, I love feminists who bitch about Hooters or Twin Peaks. I don't think that they seem to realize that every girl working those places CHOSE to work there, know what they're getting into when they do, and make an ungodly amount of money compared to waitstaff at similar chain restaurants.
  13. I have used the tranquility slimlines, and I can tell you that though they are discreet on the thickness, they are DEFINITELY not discreet on the sound. They crinkle like crazy (the ATN's do as well). If you're going to be in a quiet office/classroom situation, other people will notice. Plastic pants, underwear, or a onesie over top would help to quiet it down, but its not a infallible option. If you have the opportunity and ability to change during the day, these arn't a bad option though. Personally I use the Abena L3 diapers as my daytime diaper. It gets me almost all the way through my workday (usually have to change right when I get home). The regular plastic backed ones are a little bit loud, but not extremely bad. Go with the Air-plus if this is a concern for you.
  14. When I diaper double, I use a Pamper Exteded Protection size 5 on the inside of my regular diaper. I cut off the wings, and clip the middle portion of the elastic & leg gathers to help it lie flatter. I use three rows of slits (left, center, and right) and keep the cuts to only 1-2 inches in length. Make cuts from the front of the diaper all the way to the back. I find that this allows a good amount to drain through to the outer diaper quite easily, and does increase the use length of the outer diaper for quite some time. Usually only do this when I'm going to be at home though....by the time the diaper is soaked enough to be changed the urine smell can sometimes be apparent.
  15. Just because the public has to deal with worse things doesn't mean that it's ok to do something. Would it annoy me seeing someone out in just a tshirt/diaper? Yes, just as it would if I saw someone out in a tshirt and underwear. The reason the no shirt/no shoes signs don't say anything about pants is because its an assumed societal norm to have at least SOMETHING covering your genetalia, and that generally means pants or shorts of some type. In most areas I'm aware of in the US, it wouldn't necessarily be considered indecent exposure to walk around in just underwear (of any type), but it would likely be considered lewd conduct. As far as wearing in public goes, I wear all the time. My standard diapers are either Dry 24/7's or Abena L3's (with a Pampers Extended Protection 5 as a stuffer). In nearly a year now of wearing bascially 24/7 including work, I have not had a single comment, or even stares (so far as I'm aware). I agree with AutieAB, in all likelihood, no one notices. There are many people, even in their 20's and 30's who are incontinent. Most people, even if they noticed your diapers, would assume that you were. Its been said before, but the easiest way to get people to accept us as diaper wearers, as those who prefer to wear diapers, is to act like normal people. If you do that, don't go out in "uber-bulgy" diapers (like double or tripled X-plus) combined with tight pants, you will never have a issue.
  16. They are, and no, I haven't. I generally wear pants that are loose enough that even with a thick diaper, there is not any obvious bulging. As long as you wear pants that are generally a size larger than what you would wear w/o diapers, you won't have a problem.
  17. I wear to work, mostly because I wear all the time. Right now I work in as an inside sales/logistics team member. Although my job is more handling accounting paperwork, shipping logistics, purchase orders from wholesalers, etc., we also are on call tied into our customer service & tech support call lines. We have VERY defined break schedules. Texas is one of those that does mandate lunch and bathroom breaks, but all they require is that companies provide access for them. Which means 15 min. every two hours. Aside from that, we're generally expected to be at our desks. Even though I'm wearing, I generally try not to wet too much at work. I use it more as an emergency backstop than anything else. Personally I wear my normal diapers which are either Dry 24/7 or Abena Extras. I've worn a doubled tranquility in the past and no ones noticed. And this was with a fairly noticable amount of crinkling. I do generally try to avoid getting into a situation where I need to change at work (we have a small company, don't want to be too embarrassed).
  18. I've been wearing 24/7 for about 6 months now, was reflecting this morning that its more abnormal any more for me to be without a diaper on than it is to be wearing one. That said, I still have to make a conscious decision to release my bladder. I am finding I have to pee more frequently, and theres not really an effort to release anymore once the decision is made, but I still have to consciously make that decision (at least while I'm awake).
  19. Thanks I always enjoy discussing viewpoints with you too Betty....rarely is it that one finds opponents on the intarwebz that don't like to engage in ad hominem. I agree with you in fundament about the need to draw the line somewhere. The problem that I see is that as the government is the arbiter of law, not merely the manifestation of the will of the people, that legal bar needs to be drawn farily high, and it is. It would not be legal for you or I to walk into a crowded airport concourse for example and shout "I HAVE A BOMB STRAPPED TO MY CHEST!!!!" whether we did or not and expect that it would fall under our freedom of speech. This presents a clear and present danger to self and others, and could cause a truly high likelihood or riot or excess. Of course something like that should be censored. The problem in letting everything rest completely with the will of the majority is the simple fact that it can lead to dangerous places. If you asked most people in the US, WBC is an abhorrent organization, and they would not be opposed to shutting them down for hate speech. Similar sentiments for the KKK, Neo-Nazi groups, Anti-Semitic groups, various other outspoken anti-LGBT groups, etc. But the problem is that once you establish a precedent of shutting down or shutting up an organization based on the will of the majority, it makes it easier to take the next step. What happens if in 20 years, the popular will moves that the Boy Scouts be shut down because they oppose having openly gay scoutmasters in Troops? Or, to hit closer to home, all kink or fetish related websites are to be immediately shut down because they are evidence of sexual perversion? Even though it doesn't seem likely now, I don't think its a far reach to say that it could. I agree that specifically in the case of WBC, it should be especially up to Christians to oppose them, in whatever way they can. You're right in that I'm not highly familiar with WBC's methods, as I've been overseas for most of the time they've been in public eye and operating. What I knew of them was that they were fairly organized, but normally announced their plans at the last second if at all. I'll be honest and admit that most Christians in America would not be willing to go out of their way to participate in a counter demonstration (for several reasons, but I'm not going to go into them....thats another rant). I personally would be willing to do whatever it takes to oppose them. But I feel that that is my job as an individual citizen, not the governments. I seriously think that citizens (not just in our country but around the world) have passed off their duties to the government because its simply easier.
  20. Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to seperate my thoughts. I agree with the Supreme Court's ruling. Not because I believe the WBC's message is anything but a vile, disgusting, deliberate, inaccurate, and heretical prooftexting of the Word of God, but because of the slippery slope that refusing to allow it would set our country's foot upon. All of constitutional law is based on clearly defined tests, but how do you define hate, or any other emotion for that matter? Are we going to define it as something offensive? Well lets look at how offensive has changed in the last 50 years, and how political correctness has turned anything we say publically into a potential landmine. Remember, whether or not something is offensive/harrassing (legally) has nothing to do with the intent of the speaker but the interpretation of the listener. Its not a far stretch to say that if we outlaw "hate speech" today, that it would not become a substantial limit on speech in the future. Hate speech laws can and would have a direct "chilling effect" on political speech for fear that someone somewhere would take it as hate speech. And that, according to Justice William Brennan in Lamont v. Postmaster General is a direct violation of the 1st Amendment.
  21. The problem though, Betty, is that there is really not a whole lot that any Christian body within the United States can do to shut up WBC, anymore than the government itself can. This is true for a couple of reasons. First, they are a "Baptist church", and as far as I can tell, they are not affliated with any of the major conventions (even though Mr. Phelps was ordained by the SBC). One of the major identifiers of Baptist churches (especially independent ones) is autonomy of the local church. In many cases there is literally no other earthly authority over the church. Other Baptist organizations and churches can (and do) denounce abominations like the WBC, but there's not a church hierarchy that can excommunicate them, strip them of their title, etc. etc. etc. And obviously, other denomination of Christianity have even less authority than that over them. Individual Christians and churches can and have made attempts at counter-protests, but there have also been several cases where opposing churches and individuals have been sued (successfully) by WBC. Also, let me ask....which would you rather have at your son/daughter's funeral? One group of protestors, however vile, or two opposed groups essentially going to war with each other? For whatever reason, the WBC has the ability to get all over the country, sometime with little to no notice of the rest of the world, to a variety of different events, to spread their hate. Even if we had local church "response teams" stationed all over the country, the odds of being able to effective and consistently counterprotest is essentially non-existent.
  22. Heys always looking for others in the DFW area. If you want to talk, let me know
  23. /agreed Also, two marketplaces to look for truly good beer would be World Market (which is a kind of blend of a import foods place and a Pier 1), or Whole Foods. Both places have a fairly impressive selection of good worldwide beers and lesser known American micro-brews. Also, don't be afraid to try seasonal beers from your favorite breweries. This is often an excellent way to discover new styles of beer that you will really enjoy. A few of my favorites: Brother Thelonius - North Coast Brewing Company - Excellent Belgian abbey ale, very smooth, and with a 9.3% ABV. Has a complex flavor to it, a little bit nutty, and some fruit notes. Easily the best beer I've ever drank. 1554 Enlightened Black Ale - New Belgium Brewing - Great strong dark ale, good flavor, a little on the bitter side, Great beer to accompany a steak. I've also been fairly impressed so far with the beers at BJ's Brewhouse, which is a restaurant chain started seperately by one of the founders of the Cheesecake Factory. Along with good food, the beer has been some of the best I've had at a restaurant in the States.
  24. Quite honestly, I wouldn't do it any more than if I was going to wear regular underwear in public without shorts or pants. I personally consider my diapers just another form of underwear, and I would not wear boxers or briefs out in public by themselves. I've gotten past the point where I care what other people out in public think about people wearing diapers. Most never notice and even if they do, they could care less. But at the same time, I don't like to make it too obvious that I'm wearing diapers either....public spaces are public, and more vanilla folk have just as much a right to be comfortable (physically and emotionally) in them as we do. That said, if we could wear them out with everyone else seeing "normal" clothing...there are a few days in the summers here in Texas where I could see where that might be useful......
  25. Having worked as an inside sales rep recently, being on backorder has nothing to do with professionality/unprofessionality. It simply means that demand is higher than what was projected when they made their orders......which in many cases are a 2-3 month lead time (or more depending on shipping methods and location). Its hard to project that far ahead what exactly is going to be the demand for each and every size/product out there, especially when new products are hitting the market (thinking of the Teddy prints). Especially true when the product in question is probably a custom run product using someone else's machinery/factory space. More on topic, as someone mentioned Pampers, I've been using Luvs size 6 for my boosters lately. I love the extra bulk they give, and they are thirsty as heck. Can almost hold a full blown wetting by themselves. I can get a pack of 25 of them for 7 bucks at pretty much any store, and I get no wierd looks at all for picking them up (27 year old guy, picking up baby diapers, maybe some powder/wipes, and formula.....yeah pretty much husband on an errand run for his wife). I like the bambino duo boosters as well....I found the quattros to be a bit of overkill, especially when combined with bambino diapers (those things last me 12+ hours WITHOUT a booster).
