Tommy, We Hardly Knew Ye...

Recommended Posts

The founding of DPF was something earth-shattering for most of us in the community. When Tommy first started it, DPF was basically a snail-mail op. Then the internet came along and changed all that. While the business practices at DPF can be faulted, one thing cannot. Tommy was an AB of vision and changed our world for the better, forever. I feel privileged to have met him and to have participated in a landmark AB "Springer" show with him. He is truly the "Daddy" of AB/DL.

Yes Heidi, I agree...The one person I can think of as the "Father" of AB/DL ism. I doubt Tommy would have liked to be called father though. I too would like to know his status. I know he wasn't doing to well.

Thanks Heidi for this tribute. I agree. I remember checking my mailbox in anticipation of the DPF newsletter. Tommy was a true pioneer for the ABDL community. I think he should get the Golden Diaper Award!

Thanks Tommy for leading the way!

First off, I didn't call him the father. :P I thought this out before I posted and decided "Daddy" would be the most apropos sobriquet. But regardless of how he wants to be remembered, he's had a giant influence in all of our lives. That will be remembrance. And, respect. And, love...

Yes, I remember the excitement I had when I first recieved the DPF information packet in my mailbox about 1989. It was when I first found out just how many other people in the world liked wearing diapers! The best part was I knew nothing about DPF or how I even got the info packet. I suspect my name and address was sent to DPF by someone who read a letter I wrote to The Simon Foundation.

I never met Tommy but did write him some true stories and several letters for the newsletter. I think he was one of the first to use the internet for AB/DL sites and business. He was the pioneer but it seems other AB/DL groups have surpassed DPF. That is to be expected as Tommy gets older. I also understand for the past couple years that he has alsheimers. That's too bad. He worked hard and could be very ruthless with his business ventures but he deserved to live out a comfortable life in his old age. Alsheimers has been somthing 4 of my aunts have had and it is terrible!

Tommy, the man, the myth, the Biggest baby of all! The one who brought to light that we are not alone. What an amazing person he is to do what he has for this community. If it weren't for DPF I don't know what I would have done. I am and will always be grateful for what he has done for us.

Hello,

I met tommy in Germany twice. It had a lasting impact on me. I came to accept my true self. He is the pioneer of our scene.

My view; I always thought DPF over-charged their products myself anyway. I was never fond of how he tried to rip off the AB world with his over-priced stuff anyway...

HOWEVER...

I've seen Tommy on many a talk show back in the day, Dr. Dean, Jerry Springer, etc. I will give the man his props though. He did pave the way for better communities other than his so-called empire. I'll see what I can do about posting Dr. Dean when I can on like MegaUpload or something. I found the Video a year ago and I'll upload it when I have a chance to.

I don't know if this site would be here today without what Tommy did for our community. It is just too bad that they didn't try more actively to get someone to take over DPF. I'd really hate to see it end up as one of those phoney websites that shows up when a domain isn't renewed.

I wish Marky would just go ahead and pull DPF down, and perhaps just put a single page up to denote what it used to be.

As a person, Tommy has done more for this community than any one person. For that he should be commended.

As a business, I've never been fond of DPF and their practices are a lot of the reason why this site was started.

I did contact them about taking over DPF, creating a permenent archive of the site and bringing the two communites together, but got no response. Not really surprising as ( A ) I can't write the big check they want for the business; and ( B ) DPF never liked me.

I chatted with Tommy a few times and found him to be a fun loving guy. I purchased some items from his store. He was no better or no worse than others who were essentially resellers. The key was that one could sample things in small quantities from multiple manufacturers. I postly purchased plastic pants until I found the ones I liked best.

He did push the idea that our baby play should remain amongst adults. Real children had no place in our play. Consider the number of sites that have come and gone because they had materials involving real children. Tommy did walk a fine line with his teen chat and forum, but they were fairly tightly monitored.

*raises her martini glass to toast Tommy*...

Without DPF i would not be who i am today....

Without DPF i wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet the friends and companions i've come to know and love over the last 8 years....

Without DPF i wouldn't have found the courage to change my life from what it was to what it has become...

Without DPF i wouldn't have come to know that there were others out there with whom i could relate when it comes to this strange fetish of mine...

Tommy came to my "online" rescue more then once back in the day and while it was probably seemingly small and insignificant to him...it meant so much to me...

Whenever we chatted in DPF, Tommy always carried his martini with him...so ............*raises her own martini glass* ...to Tommy...where ever you are...whatever you are doing....may you know the appreciation so many have for you....and may your own life be filled with the blessings equal to all the opportunites you've provided so many of us....

jennie bear ..... which btw....my name jennie bear originated in DPF...it's a play on my real life name...which some of you know....but i took this name and it truely has become a whole personna i identify with each and every day whether i am taking part in anything lifestyle related or not....

I would also like to thank you for the introduction to the scene. you paved the way for all of this we have today and it is greatly appreciated.

I noticed someone say they have the clip from Tommy apprearing on Dr. Dean, I was wondering if you did or if you could post that or possibly email that to me? I have been looking for that for quite sometime. That is the show that opened my eyes to this and I would love to see that episode again.

Ah, Tommy and DPF...

I saw this topic and thought (as I'm sure many others did) it was an RIP. Is this so? Or just a tip o' the cap to his groundbreaking contrib?

In any case... it seems that that the DPF domain has finally passed out of his control. Given that, I'd like to see him login here at DD, and give his blessing... pass the torch, as it were.

DD is truly the premeire AB/DL site out here nowadays-- but DD, and all the other AB/DL sites out there, owe a huge thanks to Tommy's foresight in recognising the hidden membership out here. DPF was the site that started it ALL... and despite the sad state it devolved to, in those early days it gave voice to hundreds of AB/DL's that are now posting/chatting on all the diaper sites that evolved in DPF's wake.

Tommy: Thanks, man. You are legendary.

My thread was not meant as a RIP. Just a thank you. Better for him to know our appreciation now, while he's still breathing, than when he's gone. He's near. There is a disturbance in the force.

When I heard Tommy was ill and DPF might be up for sale, like others again, I made an inquiry as to how much and a list of assets and expenses and all the usually business stuff, but received no reply, which told me they weren't serious *shrug*.

From what I have seen and currently know, I would guess there isn't really that much value left in the site, except for the store, but most of what is there you can get elsewhere, so what are you buying other then a name and rights to use it?

Squareduck, DailyDi:

There is quite a bit of value to DPF, just as it is...for all other diaper-related websites, such as DailyDi. This is because it givess people who make themselves unwelcome on more reasonable sites a place to go and live, a sort of purgatory that takes the pressure off of DailyDi and other good sites.

No, I can't put a dollar value on it, but I am certain that value is there.

Oh, I know there is value to dpf... I just can't write the check, and doubt most ABDL's can. Will hate to see it end up a porn or other junk site because they have the cash.
