  1. Use a plug on the open end of the cath. The pee will back up but not much and it will allow you to shower, dry off, and get a fresh diaper on https://www.allegromedical.com/products/bard-catheter-plug-and-cap-for-drainage-lumen-on-foley-catheters-each/
  2. Great job on week 1! How was the clean up process for you in light of living in a RV?
  3. Congratulations! Here's to many, many more!🥂
  4. Huge thanks to Ind and cathdiap for willing to share their designs, build methods and success! As always, I'm inspired more each time I catch up on this thread
  5. If I change while standing, I start with the bottom tapes first. If changing while laying down, I usually do the top tapes first. I don't think there's any special method or secret sauce as to which tapes should be first. It probably comes down to each person's preference and body.
  6. I switch between Better Dry and Dry24/7. I can usually make it a day in just 2 or 3 diapers!
  7. FixFlex is the winner for me as well. Besides being more comfortable and roomy, they hold a good bit more and are more sturdy than the RealFit. My biggest complaint with the RealFit is how flimsy the material is. The pull-up tends to 'ride down', particularly if I bend over. If I reach back to pull them up, I can easily stick my finger through the material or tear them if I pull to far, thus separating the elastic waist band from the diaper. Then it is only a matter of time before the small hole becomes huge. This does not happen with FitFlex line.
  8. My story is similar to others. About 11 years ago, I had a kidney stone removal procedure that went bad. I semi-woke up in an ambulance heading to the ER from the surgery center, with an oxygen mask on my face and a long string sticking out of my you-know-what attached to a stent deep inside. I had no control for several months and finally got some daytime back (but never regained it at night). Then about 5 years ago, I fell from a pickup bed to a concrete driveway, flat on my back. I'm still resisting diapers 24/7 but I suspect it is only a matter of time.
  9. I had a very pleasant factory defect in my Dry 24/7. It seems that twice the padding was put in the diaper. When I reached for the diaper, I initially thought I had two diapers, but there was just one. Once I changed into it, the diaper was so thick, I could hardly bring my legs together. I ended up sleeping like a frog. This diaper was an All Night and Most of the Day Diaper - 14+ hours!! It probably would have held more, but it was getting really heavy and starting to smell a little. It made we wish all of them were like this. BRING ALL YOUR FACTORY DEFECTS TO ME TO DRY 24/7!
  10. Well stated. I would LOVE to have a working stent like this but not confident enough to make one myself.
  11. BB - It's been a few weeks since we've bugged you about your healing. Are things getting back to normal for you? What is your next step? (Is it OK if I call you BB?? )
  12. Brian - Sorry to hear about the troubles. I was really hoping this one would finally be the magic fix. I second Dill's advice. Be sure to stock up on iron rich foods to keep your blood factory working at full capacity. Ray
  13. Hey Brian - Just wanted to wish you good luck on your procedure next week. I hope this 3rd one is truly 'the charm'!
  14. You definitely now have the winning story for parties! Not sure many people can one-up that one.
  15. I've been following this thread for sometime and I'm very interested in the whole idea of a stent. These last two versions, the modified cath with the compression sleeves, or the medical grade tubing with silicon o-rings, are very tempting. They seem relatively easy to build and only have a very few materials. My big question now is how is one of these things installed? Do you push it in with a sound or crochet hook or what??
  16. Hey Brian- It's been a while since we've heard from you, about you. How are things going? Are you going back to the doc anytime soon for round 3?
  17. The third time is the charm, as they say, right? Hopefully!
  18. That's awesome news! I hope the waters keep flowing!! That'd be a good Christmas present...
  19. Brian, I hope the recovery, this round, is going much better than the last one. Good luck!
