I would usually add extra cheese to it (whatever was on hand). I was never without a fridge though. Has yours thawed out yet? 1

No. Haven’t wanted to make the mess of thawing it out while I lack the money to get it fixed. 2

No milk needed. I tried going back to that box stuff once and it was rather disgusting. I get the 8-pack at the warehouse club. It's cheaper that way of course, even more so if they have a coupon deal. I know there are store-branded version of this though I don't recall ever trying them. 2
Alyeskabird Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Feeding just yourself or more than one? I find mac and cheese is a good base for a lot of addons, dump a can of chili in and you got chilimac, couple other things work good with it too. A lot depends on how many your feeding, as that might be too much for one. I also advise to keep some powdered milk on hand, its good when you got no milk, and want something like mac and cheese or the like. Something that might also work on a short term basis, a cooler with some ice tossed in it will help keep fridge stuff cold, if you keep on top of it will work for small amounts of stuff over a few days. ALso works for when you buy stuff frozen that needs to thaw before cooking, use it as a block of ice to keep stuff cool before you do your cooking. The better your cooler the better stuff will last in it. 1
Dubious Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I have survived on bread and water. Neither need a refrigerator.
mikejackson999 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Ramen noodles with ham added, rice and beans, max and cheese with hotdogs or tuna mixed in, rice and cream of mushroom soup or broccoli cheddar soup mixed in, rice and ham mixed in, macaroni and cheese with ham. i always make sure I have plenty of ham and rice on hand.
WetDad Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Ramen was my staple when I was homeless, thankfully that was a long time ago.
Cute_Kitten Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Ramen has been my lunch and dinner of choice when the money is tight and I gotta squeeze every nickel until the buffalo poops. If I have it in the house, I'll spruce the ramen up with some hard boiled eggs or some slices of ham or roast beef or other lunch meat. Mac and Cheese (or the off-brand stuff) with shredded canned tuna or chicken. Or cut up hot dogs.
willnotwill Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Never one for mac&cheese (still aren't). I lived on grilled cheese sandwiches at times. I've been known to eat the ramen straight from the package (uncooked). Nice and crunchy. Pototoes were always cheap and filling.

barnburner Posted January 21 Posted January 21 If I am able to, I can get a pound of fresh ground beef for like $2 or less, I then buy a bag of frozen tater tots and some BBQ sauce. I cook up the ground beef and throw in bbq sauce while the tots are baking, then the tots are done I put them into a bowl and chop them up with a spatula and then mix the bbq ground beef into it. I dont live well but its something I dont mind making. (My brother works for a grocery store chain as the meat department manager and can slap a custom price/bar code label onto the meat, If I needed to I could use his savings card which also has his employee discount on it.)

mikejackson999 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I absolutely love just buttered noodles. It doesn’t matter what type of noodles either. As far as ramen goes, I too occasionally eat ramen dry. I never tried it dry until I was in South Korea while in the Navy and went to a ramen cafe and the guy behind the register said to try it when I asked what he recommended
