I have a CCW permit and carry all the time. I have been to the theater since they started searching. They did search my bag and saw my 2diapers and wipes/powder. He was kinda shocked but didn't say anything. I thanked him and the wife and i walked to our theater both carrying a handgun and 2 extra magazines concealed. So it is kind of a joke.

Real gun people do not carry in their bags. Those can get ripped off, dropped, forgot or spilled open. You carry on yourself so you always know where it is. I can and do wear shorts and a t-shirts and carry and you would never know.

Every guy has a concealed weapon and 2 magazines :P

Lol, this is so funny, but yet so very true.

They should. I have never had to use a gun since leaving the military. But, you never know. I just look at it like a wallet.....I'm leaving the house..grab keys, wallet, phone, gun... and I'm off. No big deal.

Hopefully you caught zpeed's hidden meaning there. I think he was referring to the male organ & the family jewels if I'm not mistaken, but I also get your point. Also, thank you for your service to our country! It is much appreciated!

Many Regal Cinemas have been doing bag searched since camcorder priracy became a problem.

Of course most movie theater owners restrict outside food and beverages, since those are their cash cow.

I also agree that those actually trained to use hand guns professionally carry on their person. Fifty years ago female police officer no longer carried their duty weapon in a purse. There are many jurisdiction not restricting those with appropriate permits to carry in theaters. Are the theater employees trained to detect an invalid CCW?

The year before the Lana Clarkson incident, Phil Spector was escorted from a party in NYC, because he was a jerk. Outside, he produced a firearm, at which point he was thrown to the ground under gub muzzle control and disarmed. All the time he was yelling "Do you know who I am!" The fact is some did know and had not cared for 35 years. Spector also claimed to have a CCW.

That turned out to have been issued in a Southern state where Spector was not a resident. His previous gun related arrests and convictions in California precluded his legally owning any firearms in California, and of course no CCW.

Even if his Southern state CCW was valid there, on out of state CCW is valid in New York, or in California. At his trial for the murder of Lana Clarkson is defense team explained the NYC incident as "Spector being confused" How fascinating that the off-duty NYPD detective who was working as private security for the party noted in his report that the Spector weapon was a Colt Cobra, which was turned over the the arresting NYPD officers. On the stand in California in 2007 the detective who disarmed Spector was not able to say if the Colt Cobra Spector was carrying in 2002 was the same one which killed Lana Clarkson in February 2003.

Until then I did not worry about nuts with guns in theaters. My husband is a movie studio executive and a member of most related assocations. So I do not remember attending a movie in a theater with a paying public audience. We see screenings on the lots of the studios and almost once a week at the AMPAS "Oscar" theater. I started to worry once the testimony about Spector carrying routinely and without a permit came out. He was a member of several entertainment industry associations, so had attended Oscar screenings,

Unfortunately most people carrying without permit do not look as stereotypical psycho as Spector in his wigs and ladies style jackets.

You do understand that in Missouri, if you have something other than a pocket knife with blade shorter than 4" you are committing a felony to carry it concealed? Even a concealed carrier endorsement doesn't make this legal.

Based on some quick research there are concealed carry permits in Missouri. Unless you're just talking about knives. Which I think in Florida too concealed carry permits only cover firearms. Although there's no specific law in Florida about knife length. Only balisongs and automatic knives are called out in the law as specifically illegal. It's weird that there are often more stringent laws against knives than firearms.

Knives are tightly restricted in many places. IIRC here in SC it's no fixed blades over 2 1/2", no folders over 3", no 'balisongs', and no automatic knives (switchblades) :whistling:

Yet still, a punk with a 2" penknife stabbed my friend just twice many years ago and killed him :bash:

Laws only affect those who obey them or get caught violating them- they can never create safety <_<

As someone who carries a pocket knife for utility reasons it drives me nuts. There's also a fair bit of support for the illegality of balisongs being a racial thing, or at least started that way, as they're farming knives used by Filipino immigrants.

Finnally some common sense. I've seen the handbags with the hidden gun compartments but after some consideration I decided they were unusable because when I need to pull a gun I can't very well ask the mugger/murderer to wait a moment while I open up my secret compartment to dig out my weapon. An unloaded handgun is a nice paperweight and a concealed weapon you can't reach when you need it is no different.

The only way they will stop weapons from entering movie theaters is to have real security like pat downs, metal detectors and xrays and they just aren't going to do that. Honestly, I'm okay with the window dressing, it doesn't really cause me any problems.

I'm talking about knifes. The concealed carry ENDORSEMENT, which is what it's called in Missouri as I posted before, DOES NOT apply to concealed knives...only firearms.

Think of it as an exemption to the law NOT a less stringent law.

I just want to keep LILJESTER out of trouble. There's no way unless he fits into one of the limited exemptions: Law Enforcement, Military, etc... that you can carry a concealed knife in Missouri.
