Diseased88
So the search engine yielded nothing, and I want peoples advice, opinions, and what they use. When changing/putting on a diaper, do you use powder, cream, both, or neither? I've heard some people say they don't use anything, and powder seems to be the popular choice. What I want to know is if cream would be a better option? Is it healthier? (Fine dust can really mess up someone with a sensitive nasal lining.) Hope this is in the right section. Link to comment
binky's rule
I powder at every change. imo, cream is only needed once in the morning and again at night, unless you have a rash you are protecting. Link to comment
DiaperKyle
Powder all the way. Cream is too much of a hassle for me; with powder it's just a quick poof poof and you're done! Link to comment
timmyc
usually baby powder while wearing diapers. An amazing feeling. Might use a little lotion before going back to big boy pants. When changing someone else, love using lotion or oil. Link to comment
Diseased88
Well, I recently started experimenting with cloth diapers, and powder didn't feel like it was doing anything for me. It was almost as if the cloth diapers were absorbing it. I noticed that rubbing a little vaseline seemed to make it better at protecting against rash (I got my first diaper rash in cloth D= ). I just wanted to know what the community at DD chooses. Link to comment
Bettypooh
I chose 'nothing' but I sometimes use powder just to enjoy the scent as I'm powdering Rashes are rare for me which is good because I like being and feeling wet It's quite a pleasure to not have to constantly work at staying dry Bettypooh Link to comment
Pull-ups man
I dont use either. I just use water to wash when I take my diaper off Link to comment
Little BabyDoll Christine
I use baby l otion whti an overlay of powder to keep things from getting sticky Link to comment
lil_baby_wet_n_squishy
I use baby lotion and baby powder when wearing diapers, but only powder when wearing pullups. Link to comment
Aina
I take the time and trouble to use both. I find it time well spent as I hardly ever have skin problems. Link to comment
lilJester
generally I at least powder. Link to comment
Codymoogle
*Bumping this topic a bit, is two months too zombified?* I don't use anything on an "every change" basis. That said, I use powder when I'm really longing for the nice smell. but I'd prefer it on my stomach instead of my diaper area, to be honest. I'll use rash cream (or Vaseline in a pinch) if I get a rash. I also like baby oil or lotion, but I tend to use that on areas other than my diaper area so I suppose it doesn't count. ~ moogle Link to comment
Rihanna
I checked cream, but that is only if it's going to be a long session, like a couple days. Normal everyday changes it's nothing or powder. Link to comment
Diapered Jason
I am a casual diaper wearer, so I hardly ever use cream though I use powder all the time, and that is due to its smell mostly. Cream being the oily substance it is requires that you wash your hands before taping your diaper on. Link to comment

I mainly use powder but when I do use creams or baby lotion I'll have a hot washrag & towel to wipe my hands off before taping or pinning my diaper on. Link to comment
willnotwill
I guess I'm between the neither or creme camp usually I don't use anything but when I do I use Dr. Boudreaux's butt paste. Link to comment
Three Rivers
Vaseline as a barrier, but added powder for the smell and added protection. Link to comment
lovelylittle
Vaseline all the way, it's discreet with no smell and is used for lots of things so it's not weird to have around the house if someone sees. Per my mommy and nursing experience, powder feels nice and smells nice but doesn't do nearly as much for protecting the skin as cream. Link to comment
Patrick L
I use powder all the time and zinc and powder when I get a rash. Link to comment
willnotwill
Powder really doesn't do anything functionally. If you want it because of the smell or feel that's one thing. I usually don't use either but I'll resort to Dr. Boudreaux's Butt Paste to beat rash/irritiation. Link to comment
Red Barchetta
Mommy uses powder every time I get a fresh diaper put on. If there is a rash she will put some cream on it, otherwise, just powder. Link to comment
CDLover
Usually neither, but when I do, I use powder. CDL Link to comment
diaperguy85
usually i just use powder, lots of it! creams are pretty messy and tricky to get off my hands. recently, i started using disposable gloves to apply creams for ease of clean-up. but even with those, i dont use creams too often Link to comment
diapered_jeff48801
Both, cream twice a day morning/night, and powder at every change. Link to comment
