  1. Yep. Dictionary definition: "A raised streak left on the skin by a blow with a lash etc." Or prolonged exposure to rubber pants, in this case. I suspect it's an allergy thing for me.
  2. I've now finished building a pair of flatpack wardrobes for our bedroom, after years of prevarication. My wardrobe has high shelves with pull-out boxes on them. One has my outfits and other things for taking to AB events. Another has a couple of bags of disposables and disposable stuffers. Day to day I'm in cloth nappies, and they are in a grip under the bed so I can get to them quickly. Wet nappies go into a bucket with a lid in the bathroom, and I take them down to the washing machine twice a day. When we've got visitors I replace the bucket with a more discreet bag that I hide behind a panel under the bath. My main stock of disposables is in the garage, mostly in a locked car top box. After years of under-bed chaos and lack of space in the bedroom for my little stuff, it's finally sorted and working well. We're dead happy with it.
  3. For the past few months I've just been taking a glass of milk up at bedtime, & drinking it before I go to sleep. Before that, Mummy would bring a bottle of warm milk up to me when she came up, & she'd feed me. At the moment she can't easily carry stuff upstairs or bottle-feed me as she's waiting for a hip replacement & is in a lot of pain, hardly able to walk. Her op is (currently) set for next week, & when she's recovered enough I'm hoping we'll be back to nighttime bottle feeds. Love them. Usually I'm half asleep as she feeds me.
  4. Going out for walks from home in just a onesie, cargo shorts and a pair of sandals or walking shoes. And a tightly pinned cloth nappy underneath, of course. Birdwatching. Watching the vegetables in the garden growing. Eating them. So far we've only had a few radishes, but the first potatoes are coming along well, and there's a lot of blackcurrants and gooseberries this year too. Drying nappies and onesies on the line in the garden. Opening the big windows in the living room - they're a whole wall of the room, and the view across the valley is beautiful. Sitting there, dummy securely in its rightful place, watching nature.
  5. I've had to wear plastic pants all the time since I went full-time into nappies a few years back. Mostly because I wear cloth nappies. But when I have to wear disposables instead, I'm always in plastic pants as well. I love them. You'll be OK Jonny - they're just right for us babies.
  6. Dotty Diapers are pretty good IMHO. Very much an AB company, a small business that takes us seriously, who wear their own products. Lovely people too. Their white nappies are very good too, and they're my go-to vanilla disposable. Prices are very competitive, here in the UK where they are based. Tariff fever has hit a lot of the others, but Dotty's stuff doesn't come via the US.
  7. So it's not just me then? We've got new wardrobes arriving tomorrow, so maybe I'll fit my summer and winter clothes in my side. And my AB clothes too I hope. Mind you, we've got to build them from flatpack first. Bet they still won't all fit. Planning for holidays is more complicated these days too. If it's just a day or two I can wear washables, but even then I've got to work out how to get all my nappies washed and dried before going away. Ir usually involved a couple of days in disposables before we leave. If we're away for more than a couple of days I have to switch to disposables a couple of days before, for the same reason - can't leave used cloth nappies hanging around for days. And how many nappies do I need for a week away? Vanilla or AB nappies? What's the risk of friend or family looking in my bag? If vanilla nappies are found, I can fall back on having incontinence issues (I haven't had to play that card yet though). I used to take far too many nappies when I went away, but now I just take two per day, with a soaker for each, plus 2 or 3 extra just in case. And, how an I going to dispose of used nappies while we're away? I have to say it's a lot easier having a partner who is in the loop, but we've still got to find public waste bins big enough for adult-sized nappies. Sometimes that worries me a bit, but it always works out in the end. Putting it in perspective, it's a lot less stressful than worrying about finding a working public electric car charger... And last night I went to kiss my wife goodnight on my way upstairs to bed. As I kissed her I realised I was actually wetting at the same time...
  8. Agree that onesies are the solution for daytime, to reduce the risk of your nappy dropping down too far. I always wear one at night too. A onesie that's the right length will do this pretty well. What doesn't work, in my experience, is trying to rely on plastic pants to keep your nappy in place, either at night or during the day. Their job is to prevent leaks, so you must keep the elastic from being pushed away from your body by the bulk of the nappy. Plastic pants that fit snugly enough to help to hold your nappy in place will leak. They need to be a loose fit over your nappy, but have elastic tight enough so gaps don't appear. Many brands of pants won't work over a nappy bulky enough for overnight use. The Gary PU pants work well for me - I don't have experience of the other Gary pants, but I don't think they all have the same geometry as the PU ones. Most pants on the vanilla market won't cut it (again, in my experience).
  9. You could just volunteer to do the research. That's probably what I'd do. Come up with a solution from one of the less AB-centric suppliers & you're in the clear.
  10. I doubt there is a 'best' method. You just have to keep trying different approaches until you find one that works for you. That's what I did anyway. It will depend on your physical build as well. I'm pretty slim (5ft9in, 160 pounds) so what I do may not work for you. But I'll tell you anyway... There are different ways of folding a nappy from a terry square, so you get a lot more adjustment this way, rather than using a pre-shaped nappy. Or so I've found. For my build a 4ft square is the right size. I use the Chinese fold (aka origami, bat or butterfly fold), but there are plenty of others to try - this is a good guide. I add one or two cloth soaker pads as well. Keeping my you-know-what pointing down and central, I fasten snugly with a Snappi (toddler size) at the waist, with the wings coming over my hips so it is less likely to fall down. I then fasten with two 3" pins at the thighs. I get a very snug fit this way, with little chance of anything escaping. It's low-slung at the front too, which helps me be discreet during the day. Over the top goes a pair of Gary polyurethane pants (Large size), which are big enough to contain the whole nappy, and still be a close fit round waist and thighs. That works for me and has 24 hours a day for the past few years. Sometimes I need to adjust the Snappi or pins to tighten things up a bit, as I get wetter, but not often. Good luck!
  11. Good luck with it. Some of us went 24/7 and never looked back. I suspect most back out, though I've no stats to back that hunch up...
  12. Funny - it seems to be quite the opposite for me. Mind you, the boosters I use do fit inside the leg guards. I find I'm less likely to get leaks with a booster as the booster sort of cups my privates & reduces the chance of a channel allowing a leak between my thigh and the nappy. So I always have a booster in if I'm in a disposable. And in cloth I usually have at least one cloth booster - 2 during the day.
  13. The Worst Witch with Bella Ramsey. And Hey Duggee.
  14. Well I can't of course. I'm surprised that I'm not wetting in my sleep on a regular basis by now though, but if I do it can only be occasionally. I don't have any particular desire one way or the other. I think what happens is that if I'm nearing needing to wet then I wake up automatically. We're not talking a full bladder situation here - I never get near to a full bladder these days. Just that for some reason waking up is triggered. I don't wake up thinking I need to wet though. Just that most nights there'll come a point when I half wake up, and before I end up going back to sleep I'll wet, pretty much spontaneously with no warning or any urge to go.
