  1. I have been using suspenders to help keep my cloth diapers from sagging for years. I normally wear pull ups from comco but every once in a while the real thing is just what I need to satisfy the urge. Be careful not to include your plastic pants when clipping them on for the metal clips can easily rip a hole in the plastic. My wife says I look funny in diapers and suspenders but they do the job and keep me comfortable and the diaper where it belongs and not around the knees.
  2. I agree that everyone has a different idea of what the American Dream is. What I am saying is that it is easier and more pleasant to live it debt free. My wife and I both traveled the world before we met. To think that we have not enjoyed life is a mistake. The first 15yrs were spent getting debt free, the last 20 have been a blast. We enjoy our hobbies, and travel when the urge hits us. It is nice not to worry about anything greater than do we have enough sugar water for the humming birds or is the waterer for the wildlife empty. We enjoy solitude, hence the 100 forested acres in then middle of 'no where', the converted barn that has all the modern conveniences except neighbors within sight. Some people think we are rich, not so, we are well below the Obama tax hike threshold. We are happy and secure in our near perfect retirement home and everything is OURS not ours and the banks.
  3. Everyone wants to live the 'American Dream', but few are willing to do the work and make the sacrifices necessary to live it. I am one of the few, retired early, own my home (no mortgage), have enough income to stay happy for the forseeable future. All it takes is hard work (35 years blue collar type) and sacrifice; Vacations can be counted on one hand and they were inexpensive. Buy nothing that is not absolutely necessary and PAY CASH! The interest and fees are better off in your pocket than the bankers. This incudes everything except your home and every effort should be made to pay it off in less than 15 years. We have each had One new car ( mine is now 23 yrs old and hers is 14, we still are driving both of them but saving for a newer one.) Toys are not a necessity. Save (we put both of our boys through college, paid cash no loans, both earn more than their parents). Dave Ramsey said it best Live like no one else now (extremely frugally) so that later you can live like no one else (comfortably). Enough soap box oratory, Stay diapered, wet and happy.
  4. I believe that while the US has lacked 'great' leadership for the past few decades the problem is in congress. MOST congressmen can't find their buttox while sitting on their hands or lack enough calcium in their spines to make a humming bird egg. The answer is clear to me. Stop spending, reduce regulations by 50+%, and reform or eliminate entitlements. If the Constitution does not expressly require it of the central government then don't do it, forget about reading into it more than there is. Just because congresses in the past refused to be responsible by passing the buck is no reason to continue. No I am not a member of a political party, or the Tea Party movement. I am just a PROUD AMERICAN who who by hard work and sacrifice is now retired and living the American dream debt free. Enough of the soap box stuff. STAY HAPPY, DIAPERED, AND WET.
  5. After forty plus years of wearing diapers I have reached some conclusions: 1. Most of the diaper rash/ jock itch is actually caused by friction (similar to a rug burn). 2. Most of the friction is caused by the plastic gathers around the leg openings of disposable diapers or plastic pants, it can be caused by excessive friction when wearing pants that are snug especially in hot weather. 3. Least expensive way to reduce friction is with anhydrous lanolin (main ingredient in most barrier creams and bag balm). It can be purchased or ordered OTC at any Pharmacy. I buy mine in a 16 oz jar which lasts me a couple of years. It is the consistancy of a heavy grease and a little bit goes a long way. The aroma is that of wool and not objectionably strong or medicinal. My ultimate solution was to switch to cloth diapers and euroflex plastic pants, I haven't had diaper rash since.
  6. Love summer. When I work outside I put on a cloth pullup and forget the plastic pants. The natural cooling of evaporation keeps me quite comfortable. I don't know how it would work in high humidity but here my pants don't even have more than a damp crotch minutes after a wetting.
  7. I feel comfortable and relaxed knowing I am not tied to the potty. Even after wearing and using diapers for all these years I am still not 'out of the closet' fully. I have found that light cloth pullups give me a pleasurable feeling even though I know that they will be dry when I get home, but not much longer.
  8. My agenda for today is to water the garden and flowers, since it is going to be warm cloth pull ups and T- shirt are in order. No plastic pants so that mother nature can help keep me cool.
  9. During hot weather a cloth diaper (damp) and t-shirt is my formula for staying cool outside.
  10. While I was following this thread and typing this reply. Sitting at the computer and filling my cloth diaper is almost a daily ritual.
  11. Being the thrifty (tightwad) person that I am I have a way to use the comco pullups after they wear out. I cut the leg bands and sides off, leaving the padded center attached to the waistband. The result is a doubler that will stay put, I have always had a problem with doublers bunching up in the crotch.
  12. Love it already. Don't care if posters are AB or DL because the common thread is a like for cloth diapers and plastic pants.
  13. I have been wearing diapers for over 40 years and still have to make a the decision wheather to wet or not every time. There are times when I am not wearing that I really wished that I was. It is frustrating to be in the middle of something and have to take a potty break.
  14. I am a fan of cloth pull ups. Comco sells them in three different weights, the lightest is undetectable under clothing and the heavy weight is bulky enough to give you the true diapered feeling. Just be sure to order several sizes smaller (they are sold by waist size in 2" increments) or they sag mightily. If I have lots of time or just a short time I will add protex cloth pullups for that wet allover feeling or by themselves for fast cleanup. Another plus for comco is they sell sampler packs which include one of each weight. Comco's pricing is reasonable and quality is good. As a side note, I sometimes add a cloth doubler after the diaper is soaked to increase time between changes and it also gives me that warm feeling of the first wetting without having to change.
  15. Be careful what you wish for, since my gall bladder surgery my messes have been runny. I would enjoy a firmer stool at times but it does feel good when it migrates around the sides and up the front, and it takes no effort at all to let loose. Try 'equal' sweetener instead of sugar on your food and diet drinks, this added to extra amounts of water softened my stools in the past, It does take some planning because it usually doesn't work until the next day.
  16. During the day I like to wear sweats for ease of changing and modesty, if someone happens to drop by. During the summer I prefer just a t-shirt and cloth diaper, the evaporation of urine in a wet diaper is cool and comfortable, while a dry one is quite warm.
  17. I like to mess my cloth diapers regularly. According to what is on the agenda clean up can happen anywhere from immediately to an hour later. Laundry is part of cleanup.
  18. Cloth diapers and plastic pants are a small part of my hobbie budget, even though I wear diapers almost daily. I enjoy company and social gatherings over a night in wearing. Diaper sare an important part of my life , but not the most important.
  19. The best advice I can give is: 'don't be afraid to experiment.' Over time you will find out what you enjoy and works for you.
  20. I too love the feel of a warm wet cloth diaper. Iwill sometimes , like now, add a cloth doubler so that I don't have to change and lose that good feeling. Sometimes I will just change the doubler.
  21. Years ago my wonderful wife agreed to allow me to wear my cloth diapers to bed but not my plastic pants because she is a light sleeper and the noise woke her up. This was OK for I truely love wearing diapers even if they are dry. I recently ordered some incontenent pants made by DMI that solved that problem. Not only do they protect from leaks but they make no more noise than a cloth diaper, now I enjoy the warmth of a freshly wet diaper and empty bladder without having to get out of bed, the end result is a more restful nights sleep for us both.
  22. My wife, of 34 years, has known about my love of wetting and messing diapers for over 33 of them. I am not an AB just an active DL. She joined me in wearing a couple of times but didn't enjoy it so we left it there. She did make a couple rules that I have followed faithfully, and we have had no problems over the issue. I must change my own diapers, laundry (wet/messy diapers and clothing) and never subject her to the smell poopy diapers. It all boils down to respect on both sides.I am able to wear diapers to bed and around the house and wet them any time but I save the messing for times she is away long enough for me to enjoy it and still get every thing cleaned up before she returns. I am retired and she still has a couple of years to go so I can mess daily if I have the urge.
  23. Since my poop is normally soft and runny the feeling of it flowing up and around my bottom and up between my legs is awsome.
  24. A hand held shower is a must for messy cleanup. Cloth diapers are washed immediately twice and an exhaust fan removes the lingering odors in a couple of hours. I do not use disposables or wipes regularly because of the enviromental issues, and the distance from here to the disposal site (12 miles). A wet diaper helps me sleep better, while a messy one keeps me awake.
  25. I have been a fan of cloth diapers and pullups since before PC's existed, I have tried many styles and brands. For my money Comco has the best quality pullup in the widest range of sizes on the market today. The three pack sampler would be a good choice for a first time buyer. If you like a loose fit order a size smaller, for a snug fit (similar to disposable pullups) order three sizes smaller(the correct size while it will stay up it sags a lot). They are the most comfortable I have ever worn. Plastic pants are a must with cloth diapers. My preference is euroflex, the life span of all the others I have tried is so short that I have stopped looking for a better plastic pant.
