Question for the un pottied

Recommended Posts

I’ve been 24/7 officially since January. I wear pull ups to work but outside of that I’m in diapers. It’s been awesome and makes me happy. I have a ways to go but it’s been a great journey over all. My question is for others who have done this that didn’t start with a real medical issue, what did or do you tell you doctor and your work if it comes up?

While I was having semi-frequent accidents, I wanted to start wearing and using 24/7. I've been wearing 24/7 for about 8-9 months, using 24/7 for about 4-5 months. While I had discussed the real accidents with my doctor earlier, I decided to come clean, telling them that I wear for management and desire with a brief background of my DL life. They were actually quite understanding and it's been a non-issue. I've not told my workplace. I don't know if anyone knows. If they do find out, I'm happy to explain that I have continence issues and protection is necessary, with support and knowledge from my doctor. Otherwise the less detail the better.

That’s what I was thinking. I have 0 plans to tell work, just worried if they found out they might want a doctors note. And vice versa when I go to the doctor they are going to question it.

2.5 year in and it hasn't come up.

I wore to work for about 15 months until COVID shut the office and we worked from home and until COVID shut my industry and I was laid off.  As near as I can tell, nobody noticed and nobody needed to be told.  In the (unlikely) scenario that I was somehow discovered, I would just say that I have reasons to need them and that's all they need to know.  It's not uncommon for late middle-aged men to have those kind of reasons.  One of my own staff hinted that they were having this kind of issue after surgery.  I didn't need to know, I didn't pry, he could get his job done just fine which is all I really needed.  I don't think HR would have been interested at all unless there was a harassment issue or some kind of work concession needed to occur.

Basically in good health right now, I only have brief check-ins twice a year with my GP who is 5 minutes from my house:  I've typically gone undiapered for the 30m or so it takes to get that out of the way.  A once-per-year specialist appointment that involves partial disrobing is getting more challenging: it requires an hour or more undiapered.  For this year's I may wear a pad (just in case) and remove it before entering the surgery.

The problem will be if I am hospitalised for some reason.  I've become a fairly frequent bedwetter as a consequence of protracted 24/7 and I suspect this would become "obvious" during a hospital stay.  I'm not sure how I will handle that.  I'll think of something.

I’m not full time though wish it because got issues with my #2 and body issues.

my thoughts is don’t worry.  There is no reason to tell work about your wearing diapers.

Not sure why not just wear them to your doctors.  Your working on being incontient. Those who are inco don’t have a choice to go in a doctors office without a diaper.

It’s no ones business what you wear under your clothes to work. There is no reason to announce that you wear a diaper to manage bladder/ bowel issues unless absolutely necessary. I wear Disposable diapers and a t-shirt onesie over it under my pants or shorts. It keeps everything snug and discreet down under. I meet with and work with people all day long and my diapers, dry or wet don’t raise an eyebrow so why bring it up until it does. If it doesn’t affect your job or that of the company your good.

Doctor visits are a whole other thing. If I am there for a physical exam, I will wear a pull up diaper so I can pull it down if need be, Otherwise I wear a tape on diaper. If I was to be asked, I guess I’d say, “ it beats  peeing my pants!” Doctors are just here to help what needs fixing. If you are comfortable dealing with bladder issues this way, it’s up to you.   Before the health laws went into affect, doctors could be all up in your face about this, now the ball is in your court.

I've never specifically worked on being incontinent, I just chose not to use continence a few years back and let what will be, be.

As for engaging the GP, at this point, I just don't think the GP needs to know and I'd rather not deal with the questions and mental health assessment that he would likely run.

If incontinence should occur, I will own it.  So far during the day, it hasn't really...  <rationalize mode> I just have a bit of urgency, low range and i can be forgetful </rationalize mode>.  That's hardly uncommon for somebody of my age and gender and arguably, may well have occurred to me even without full time diapers.

Yes you could be nervous about someone seeing you in a diaper or learning about your incontinence... OR... You can chose to be an ambassador for us. If it comes up,use it as an opportunity to educate others that not every adult who wears diapers is infirm or elderly.

I started wearing diapers to work back in 84, back than I still had control of my bladder and bowels and would wear a diaper at least once a week to work.

In 87 I started wearing diapers more often to work, by 1990 I was wearing diapers every day to work and wetting them at work.

By 2000 I was not only wetting my diaper I was also messing my diapers at lest once a week at work.

Thank you everyone for the feedback, the opinions I’ve gathered are still fairly split as far as what to tell you doctor. But I appreciate everyone!

I think that tells you your answer right there... There is no right answer!   On the bright side it also means there's no wrong answer! ?

I feel like I should live my authentic self which means diapers. I’m just worried a doctor will ask questions and I don’t really have a good answer for them

"It's a sort of insurance Doctor.  I can manage without them, but after some close calls on unexpected occasions, the safe feeling and ability to get on with what I'm doing, makes wearing them a no-brainer".

It's my choice of underwear. Some wear boxers, some wear bikinis, some go commando, I go padded!

I'm meeting with a new primary doc in October.  I will probably wear a proper diaper to the appointment.

I plan to be like "I have no idea why but ever since I was a young kid I've felt like I belong in diapers.  I hated being potty trained and I went back to diapers as soon as I was able to.   Weird, right?  I don't get it but it makes me happy!".

Actually I'm more worried about what the doc will think when they notice I shave down there.  I may feel obliged to explain that I do it to help with cleanup.  It's not a lie!

Don't be ashamed.  It is for hygiene,  And just be honest with your new Doctor.

Pretty sure the doc won't ask about your shaved groin, possible the diaper won't be brought up either. Obviously there's only one reason for you to wear them. Keeping your pants clean. If anything the doc may ask if you are seeing anyone for continence.
