I seriously must have watched that trailer like 1000 times last and the opening with Mark Hamills voice and ending with Harrison Fords screen appearance! The chrome storm trooper looks bad ass! I'll see it, but with Disney's acquisition of the series, a company whose a large percentage of profits come from copy rights, I'm expecting the movie to be flashy with no substance. Link to comment

DiaperPony Posted April 20, 2015 Share Posted April 20, 2015 Funny, I was thinking he looked young, and wondered if they did the digital facelift on him. Loved the visuals in the second teaser. Any theories on the stormtrooper? Did he become disillusioned and is trying to escape? Did his vessel crash or did he somehow lose contact with the empire and doesn't know what to do now that he's alone? Is he a rebel agent that infiltrated the empire and is trying to return to the rebellion? Link to comment

He will probably do the same to Star Wars. ^ THIS!^ I was so disappointed in the last Star trek it's not funny.....That franchise has always been about substance and story and character, and Abrams just messed it up he commented that Star trek was "to cerebral: and needed more action'' BULL SH*T! I remember when 'Star wars' first came out, I stood in line to se it at midnight way back when, and it was pretty inspiring and awesome for what it was....back then, now, i really couldn't give a crap about it. It's worn and dated. The last 'movie' I remember seeing had that stupid character "jar jar binks" that the studio only used just to show off how they could have a movie with a completely CG character in it...BFD, wheres the frigging story and plot and character interaction. Lets not ask about any social commentary or heaven forbid "morality" or under lying LESSONS! GAH! So sorry if this is a downer, but star wars has just become so shallow and all shoot 'em up glitz and action with out content or character, I couldn't really care anymore. I do know that I'll NEVER forgive Abrams for his slaughter of the Star Trek franchise....why should I support his slaughtering of Star wars by using MY money to buy a ticket!?? Not worth my time much less my money....Abrams can go pound sand as far as I am concerned... I'll pass, there has to be something better to go spend my money on, something that deserves the investment, and not be wasted on such drivel. Link to comment

Disney has already stated that they're taking a "hands-off" approach with Lucasfilm as they've done with Marvel. Kathleen Kennedy and a handful of people close to Lucasfilm Ltd. will run things, but Disney isn't micromanaging things like they've done with past acquisitions that have always gone sideways. (This is also why they're not micromanaging Marvel.) I'm more worried about the series of spin-off movies they want to do, I expect that those will be more in line with Disney's typical "flashy with little substance" mentality than the "numbered" Star Wars films. Besides, the counterargument to this is that George Lucas already turned "Star Wars" into something flashy with little substance. The prequel trilogy was pure CGI flash, and the new sequel trilogy already looks significantly better than that, and we've only seen it in trailer form so far. Link to comment

I love the visuals and I have a hope that the story is about characters that I care about. I think they know that if they screw this up, Star Wars is over. I didn't like Episode II at all... I pretty can't stand watching it, but my thoughts after watching the film weren't "I want to burn down George Lucas's house". It was more like "Well that sucked. I guess George has lost it." Predating that disappointment was the travesty that was the ROTJ Special Edition. When I saw the Super Mario Bros Sarlacc I died a little inside.
