ruuuuuuuuu1
Peter Cordani wants to fly 10 747s into the hurricane filled with something called Dyn-O-Gel. The substance, used in diapers, absorbs water and turns it into a gel, which would fall into the Gulf Coast. Now, Cordani says it could slow down and maybe even stop the hurricane. link--> http://www.foxnews.com/story/2005/09/23/transcript-can-diaper-gel-stop-hurricane/ Link to comment

Wet Knight
I wonder if it would draw the water out of an alcohol/water solution? Link to comment
Little BabyDoll Christine
Proabably not. It would probably just gel them both as with urine Link to comment
Bettypooh
One would imagine that there are 'better' SAP's than some others With most substances, there's a range of variability of the ingredients which will all produce the substance desired. The usual for most manufacturers is to find the cheapest mix which will give the wanted effect for best marketing purposes but it's usually not the best possible, only good enough Link to comment
Loveable_guy
Do you think one could cut open a disposable diaper to add some SAP? I love the gooey feeling all nice and squishy of an overly full diaper. Link to comment
DailyDi
Yes. Last time I bought some I cut a slit in the plastic backsheet of a diaper, added sap and taped the slit shut. Made a super diaper Link to comment

Little BabyDoll Christine
It, or more correctly, something like it, used to be, 30 years ago. Now they use something with oil-eating microbes Link to comment
Diapered Jason
It, or more correctly, something like it, used to be, 30 years ago. Now they use something with oil-eating microbes I have never seen the sap or the microbes used that often in the oil spills I have read about. I'm not denying that they were not used, but I've noticed them using surfactants because it makes the oil spill look less severe and it is simple. Link to comment
