Codymoogle
I don't use Desitin to prevent rashes. My prevention is keeping hydrated (more hydrated = less ammonia = less irritating urine) & changing as often as I need it. I never stay in a really soaked diaper for very long if I can help it. pipes
For rash is apply desitin and then also Johnson's baby oil! This helps block the urine and the area is protected by the oil! Link to comment

redneck diaper boy
Desitin works. I have had prescriptions when it gets bad but desitin is a great barrier cream. Link to comment

willnotwill
For a preventive, there are a number of creams. Link to comment
PamperedinthePoconos
For normal rash prevention I use the Desitin 'Rapid Relief'' (blue container) every night when I diaper up. [Only use it Link to comment
rusty pins
I don't get diaper rashes, but my take on it is to use a barrier cream of whatever brand is available as a prevention. Link to comment
rosalie.bent
When my baby went into 24/7 diapers I expected a lot of rashes but the reality is she gets one or two minor rashes a year. She drinks double what she used to which helps enormously and she (finally) changes her diapers before they are dripping wet and hanging! ON occasions of rash she uses pawpaw cream which works brilliantly. Preventions is the real issue here and apart from drinking more we quickly found that if you are in cloth then you need to do a long HOT wash of the diapers to eliminate the burning sensation that can occur if you don't. The burning will lead to rashes and they are not good. Since doing all her nappies that way there have been no problems. Link to comment
