feralfreak
Thank you for calling the police. If I had a gun, it would empty and locked away. I have ZERO interest in killing anyone. I'd rather let the robbers take stuff from the house and let the police deal with them. If you want to get into a gun fight in close quarters around your wife and young family then go for it. But not me. And robbers tend not to fire on people when they know there is no resistance. but can you gaurantee their only intention is to steal? and do they intend to let you live if you see their face? because if you see their face you can give a discription to the police and as you know they would hate that? and if you were a female, could you gaurantee they wouldnt have rape on their mind? its not my place to tell you what to think but i can say what i think, and i think if someone breaks into your home, they forefeit their right to live. i NEVER want to kill anyone, but if someone breaks into my home, and i have any reason to think they have any kind of a weapon, if they are lucky they may get orders to get down, but i likely will just shoot them, because when they break in, as mentioned by a host of "the best defense" on the outdoor channel, they have already defined the parameters of the relationship. I guess that is where we have a great divide in perspective. I believe we must take as much care as possible to protect life. If someone is trying to steal a TV, computer or silverware they do not deserve to die. Nor do I want to think of myself as a killer. Just because they enter your house should not mean they have fortified their life. Link to comment

Just because they enter your house should not mean they have fortified their life. i never want to kill either, and i fully understand your belief, it would be a sickening feeling to have taken a life, when my stepfather tried to get me to kill raccoons because they get up and steal the cats food he seems to not get that i cant just blindly take any life(how can i kill something that is just hungry?) especially when it was completely passive to our cats, however, the way see it, you dont know what all a badguy is going to do to you or those you care about, and i choose not to risk my family's life. if an intruder manages to get out of my house without being shot, then i obviously wont persue him or her, but if i present my firearm and they dont submit, it will be my understanding they intend hostility. i would like to think i will have the chance to ask for compliance, "GET DOWN ON THE GROUND NOW NOW NOW!" but that may not be the case, and with reports of meth labs in the area, demands likely wont do any good, methheads when high or strung out wont act the least bit rationally. redneck diaper boy
There is now a shortage of ammunition and guns in the United States. People are afraid that their Second Amendment rights are about to be violated. People are now buying anything that goes "bang"! Link to comment

redneck diaper boy
If the Federal Government is going to throw out the 2nd Amendment, why not throw out posse comitatus, which is enshrined in another part of the Constitution too? Link to comment
ForbiddenFruit
Stop using words that you don't know the meaning of. If you call Obama a socialist to bona fide socialists, they'll laugh in your face. When you say Obama's a tyrant, it's an insult to people who have lived and do live under real tyrannies (North Korea, China, every theocracy ever). 1 Link to comment

Daddy R
I have not ever seen anyone see the real reason the 2nd admendment exist is so we the people have the way to protect us from our own goverment. Simply stated everyone is saying our armed forces are to protect us, So what would happen if our leaders wanted to have total control an turn our armed forces against us the people. Well it would be alot easier if WE didn't have guns in our house!!! That is the reason for the 2nd amend, to protect Us the people from tyrany Link to comment
Daddy R
Fact a friend from japan sent me, Should make you think!!! Fact violent crime in America is down 50% since 1992. Fact England and Whales has a 3.5 times higher crime rate per 100,000 people than America. Fact England has banned guns. Now my question is this why is everyone trying to compare Japan to America wouldn't it make more sense to compare England to America culture wise? All stats come from the FBI home page because they are unbiased. My dad used to say don't believe everything you see on TV. Link to comment
Permanently Pampered
Very well here are stats being used in an actual comparision. Link to comment

feralfreak
The American society has largely changed since the time of the Founding Fathers, firearms back then were a vital tool in settling the frontier and defending the country in the face of the national government not having a standing army.
