yes a colostomy can be reversed and are quite often.

I would like to say that between Daily Di and the moderators that work hard to keep this site friendly you peolple are doing a wonderful job.I too have noticed the rise in flame type post and the "f" word being thrown around.I think some of these new people coming on may be bringing bad habits from other sites and we will all have to be patient and tolerant.Keep up the good work,love this site

I don't know about others that have cathed but i always had a difficult time while sitting on the toilet to do it,laying down or standing always wrked well for me.I can feel for him in the cath dream,I had my leg tube pull off the top of the bag at work one day and soaked the leg of my pants and coveralls and filled one work boot as well.Right now I am patiently waiting to get a cath out after surgery,its a 20fr which is close to 1/4 inch wide,i had a 24 and a 28 after other surgery but always removed in one or two days.

There are probably lots of use that have to take antibiotics prophylacticly,i am very suseptable to infection and even got one from a cystoscopy the doctor did in hospital,that one decided to bypass the bladder and hit the kidney instead.under doctors care and control the low amount of use should not be harmful,in 2000 i was on cypro for 10 months and the biggest problem was the fungus infections on the skin in the diaper area from all the good bacteria in the bladder being killed of as well,so there are risks and a doctor should always be involved

the cloth like pull ups still have plastic with it's million yr half life. we always pack out all the used diapers we pack in.I use an old spare cooler on trail runs or when hiking they do roll up smaller when wet than dry but wiegh more.good for you packing everthing out that is packed in One thing i have done is peel the absorbent pad off the pant and wrap and pack it out and use the remaining pant part for fire starter material.I use the amg pull ups and they peel easily

I self cathed 3 times a day for 9 yrs till infections got the better of me.most urologists tend to start you off with too big a cath and that makes it that much more uncomfortable and causes spazms by emptying too quickly.mine always seem to want to start with 16fr but i found that a 12 fr would do fine for me.i finally had the valves cut and the prostrate opened up (TURP) .last week i had the prostrate removed and now my ureter is connected straight to the bottom of my bladder with no valves any more.will be interesting to see the results when the catheter comes out next week,should just trickle all the time every time the kidneys fire.

Been here.This sounds more like overflow incontinence.If you have bph or enlarging prostrate and cannot void fully then you are probably building too much pressure.You are streatching your bladder wall (the blood source)and could be at risk of reflux damage to the kidneys which will show up on the IVP you had done but not till later. There is a test for this ,It is called a urodynamic or video urodynamic test and it may be something to ask for.It doesn't hurt(no pain) when it is done. If bph is the cause ,there are several good meds on the market to treat this.I am not a doctor and you should talk to one further but I have been thru it myself and these are my experiences

I use a blue denham diaper bag with all my stuff in it.coming thru austrailian customs on one trip the pulled out a diaper and asked who the nappy was for,this was right in the line with 200 other passengers.i just told them and they put it back and i was on my way.

If you have a penis that doesn't respond when arroused then yes they may stay on,if you dont try sitting ,standing or walking they may stay on.with me they always fall off but that is because of a retracted penis,it keeps pulling back and unglueing itself. I have even tried extra glue and the tape wrap ones as well and never trusted them.They can also cause some nasty skin ulcers and friction sores

a catheter is an invasive procedure and they wont usually do it without really good cause,if you go to a nuerology ward with stroke patients they are in diapers and not cathed.i used cathes for 9 yrs and had lots of infections from them and this is something all health professionals are concerned with.the diapers they supply have no barriers in them and are just as useless for bowel movements as they are for peeing

I am incontinent and also a life long D/L and have no problem with other peoples desire or fetishes,I feel it's a natural part of everyone that only a brave bunch actually express.I have a few other fetishes as well and try to enjoy them all.

It's not a policy that they don't change you ,it's laziness.They didn't want to interupt their visiting and gabbing.By the time my wife drove in i had overflowed into the bed and all the way up my back.I had just had leg surgery and was in traction so I couldn't even reach for a diaper and with the IV running so was the bladder.

Yes hospital diapers are really poor (spell that CHEAP ).the last time i was in i couldn't even get the nurses in to change me and my wife had to drive in from home and so i had her bring me some good diapers as well.I go back to the hospital next week but will have a catheter , I will still need to be diapered for bowel leaks.It will be interesting to see what this hospital has for diapers,most of the ones around here use depends now and i go through one of those an hour

Your in edmonton and if you ordered from the U.S. then you also need to expect an extra 14+ days.Anytime i order they will always say 7 to 10 days but they have no control over customs clearance.I ordered an item from denver that was shipped 17 days ago and it arrived yesterday.Yes 11 week sounds like a long time but they may truely have been out of stock or backordered. Delayed shipping is one of the joys of living here i guess

I don't think that any one would say anything even if they did notice.I have been wearing 24/7/365 for over 20 yrs and used to do the extra shirts and onsies and plastic pants etc.Now I only wear my regular pants over top and if the diaper makes noise it cant often be heard unless someone is right beside you.When i got remarried my new wife had me leave the excess clothing behind and you know ,see was right no one has even noticed or said anything.I have been out in shorts and a tee shirt or with a sweater on and not tucked in ,and when you reach for things in stores etc the top of the diaper may show and still no one has ever commented.Just treat them like any other underwear,if you went from boxers to briefs to thongs or whatever you may be concerned others will notice but no one will comment because its not really important to them and they may be wearing the same.

go ahead and wear to work,no one will notice and if they do no one will say anything because it is really none of there business and most people have there own lives to worry about.I have been incontinent for over 21 yrs and have never been asked about it at work. Have fun and good luck and dont sweat the little stuff,if anyone askes and you really need to tell them,just say you have a bad bladder infection,but i don't think you will even need to go there

When I was getting remarried I meet my wifes family at their cabin for a weekend of rebuilding decks.When asked about my situation with diapers and all I was just straight forward and told them about it,there were no complaints about it and lots of questions that they asked to understand the situation better, but they did try to limit my working only because they thought it would harm me.I just went about helping all i could and they started to understand I was no different than anyone else that they had meet.I dont care who knows and i make no effort to cover up the fact,I dont flaunt it in peoples faces but i try not to let it interfer with things i want to do,like swimming or wearing shorts or no shirt in the summer,we are still people with the rights to be out in public like anyone else with no harrassment.

I rolled a semi in 1985 and ended up with a compression injury at T10 and a herniated disc at L5/S1 as well as other injuries that have taken away all the sensory control of bowels and bladder.I was a D/L already so adjusting to diapers was not too difficult except not being able to go without.My bbiggest complaint would have to be the lack of information available back then and the terrible attitudes of the medical profession as well ,based on their belief this shouldn't happen to younger people,i was 29 then.I actually had doc's say that they thought i was faking and as little as two yrs ago i had a WCB doc try to blame it on munchausen syndrome,i did however win my court case against them partly because of that statement as the court ruled they where being unrealistic after 20 yrs of testing to come to a conclusion like that. I'm happy in my diapers and only dealing with stupidity like that gets me pissed off.

a turp will open up the inside of the prostate and cause little to no nerve damage,if he has to do the sphinctors then thats a different case. been there done that
