A lack of diapers in the news.
rubbersheetmike replied to ValentinesStuff's topic in Diapers in the News
I have bladder urgency and I usually wear a pullup disposable when Im out. I go into a bathroom, find a stall, pull the diaper down and pee into a toilet without having to wet and change the diaper. Ive even done it at urinals a few times but have to be more discreet about it. I unbuckle my belt and unfasten the top of my pants and pull the front of the diaper down far enough so that I can pee into the urinal. Ive been spotted doing it a few times but, hey, a guys got to do what a guys got to do, right? I thought about that too. Most hotel lobbies have bathrooms nearby. -
Im taking a diuretic to deal with a heart problem and edema. I also take another prescription med at night that makes me sleep like a baby. If I made the effort not to pee the bed these days Id be up two or three times during the night. So I just dont make the effort. A good nights sleep is more important to me than being dry in the morning.

I hated it when I was growing up too. I think that bedwetting into puberty changed that.
-
Im not sure its important to me to know how often I wet during the night. I assume its usually once. As for the timing, our mother used to wake both my brother who was a bedwetter and me up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night when we were young. Its wasnt really an effective method to stop bedwetting because we usually couldn't pee on demand and would just wet after we went back to sleep suggesting there is a timing element to bedwetting.

True but I use a pay laundry in the basement of the building where I live. I dont mind a peed bed but hauling the wet laundry around is still a hassle.
-
For me the fascination with it started around puberty. Even after I stopped wetting in my sleep I wanted to wet my bed. I think it was a security thing. I kept the rubber sheet on my bed until I was 17 and started dating. I understand your point about the fear of corporal punishment. I got it when I was younger including for bedwetting because it was viewed back then as a discipline issue.

If you were a bedwetter growing up did you know others who wet?
rubbersheetmike replied to stevewet's topic in Bedwetters
It was shameful just to be put in the bedwetters cabin because all the other campers knew. My bedwetting decreased at puberty and I had only occassional accidents so I was sent to camp with two extra sleeping bags and extra pjs. The application form asked about frequency or risk for those who were identified as bedwetters by their parents. I think the first year I was marked as a moderate risk because I had wet once or twice during the month before the application was dated and the second year I was a low risk because I'd only wet once or twice in the three months before the application was completed. A couple of the regular wetters who were high risk for bedwetting wore diapers. All the beds in the cabin had vinyl covered mattresses. The first year there were five of us in the special needs cabin and the second year there were four. Regular cabins had eight campers in each. Those of us who wet in our sleeping bags had to hang them and our wet pjs on a nylon clothesline behind the cabin. And the cloth diapers some wore were rinsed and also hung out on the line to dry. On the weekend one of the camp staff took the soiled sleeping bags and pjs to a laundromat in the local village to get them washed. I recall that my parents had to pay more for this service when they arrived to pick me up at the end of both stays. -

Sleepovers werent a big thing when I was young either. I do remember having to go to summer sports camp for three years in a row. The first two years I was put into the 'special needs' cabin for bedwetters. The last year I begged my mom not to tick the bedwetter box and so I got assigned to a regular cabin. And then I wet the bed part way through the first week soaking my pjs, my sleeping bag and leaking through the thin mattress and onto the floor! -
Thats an interesting article. I found the focus on the brain most interesting because I have had life long nurology issues.

Guide to achieving bed wetting
rubbersheetmike replied to SoakedSheets's topic in Incontinent-Desires
Looks like your a young guy. Wait until you get older and you might find yourself having accidents during the day. I dont worry about bedwetting. It happens but is fairly easy to manage. Daytime wetting takes a lot more effort to hide. I cant count the number of times I've lost bladder control. Sometimes I dont even realize Im going until I notice that Im wet down there. -
Sometimes I just want to wet my pants
rubbersheetmike replied to BowsAndRibbons's topic in Watersports
I like to get so desperate that I have no choice but to pee my pants. -
Do you change right away or enjoy the soggy feeling?
rubbersheetmike replied to ToriPoponi1994's topic in [DD] Surveys
I never change during the night if I'm wearing. And I wait until I'm ready to take my morning shower before removing my wet diaper. -
A few decades ago in my late 20s I met a guy through a personal ad who was also in his early 30s who wore 24/7 and wet in his sleep. I was curious about the lifestyle and somewhat envious but I was too mixed up to make a go of the relationship. I was having sex with both males and females at the time and didnt know whether I wanted to live the lifestyle 24/7 or commit to one orientation either. In subsequent years I often felt guilty about brushing off the relationship because we had a lot in common. I just wasn't mature enough to realize it.

ADHD, autism, incontinence, bed wetting and wears diapers
rubbersheetmike replied to Jeffery's topic in Bedwetters
Your probably right. My younger brother was on the spectrum and was a bedwetter throughout his childhood and apparently as an older adult is now dealing with this again. I believe that where I live people also drop off the benefits provided for autistic young people at 18 but if the situation is still disabling they can then apply for government benefits that include income support and some cases include coverage for incontinence supplies if a doctor says they are required. -
Is this the same thing as a bladder flush or bladder irrigation? If so I believe it had to be done with a catheter. Some people are okay with catheterization but Im not a big fan. I had it done once when I was younger and found it very uncomfortable. Its my understanding that once the solution drains the urinary system returns to whatever level it was prior to the procedure.

Scientific papers that recommend diaper usage for bedwetting
rubbersheetmike replied to Bonsai's topic in Bedwetters
I can't remember disposable products being around when I was a kid either. I said this in a post one day and somebody on here posted an old ad indicating that disposable products were available back in the 50s and 60s. They sure didn't make it to where I lived in an older working class area of a small industrial city. I used to drive around my neighborhood on my bike noticing all the bedding and pjs hung out on clotheslines to dry. My mother was one of the first in the area to get an automatic washing machine and electric dryer but even then she sometimes hung wet bedding out on the line to dry when the weather was good. Those were the days when bedwettting often wasn't treated as a private matter I guess. -
My older brother and I were both bedwetters and we shared a room. Every morning our mom would do a round table at breakfast unless she was too hung over and didn't get up before we left for school. She'd still shout from her bedroom though asking if we'd put our wet bedding in the laundry hamper. We had to fess up or we'd get into big trouble. She used to check to see if we lied about it. My mom did wash the peed sheets and pjs until I was old enough to know how to do the laundry myself. Also she's sometimes put the wet sheets and blanket out on the line to dry when the weather was nice and she'd rinse the pjs and put them out to dry as well. Sleepovers with friends weren't a big thing when I was growing up either. And it wasn't considered a medical issue either.

Were you babied/spoiled as a kid?
rubbersheetmike replied to Silly Willy Toddler Boy's topic in [DD] Surveys
14 is a big family. I grew up in a family of 7 kids, with 3 boys and 4 girls. Both of my parents worked - well my mom usually part-time - and 4 of us kids were overage bedwetters. And my father had a small construction business and worked about 60 hours a week to pay the bills. So our dad wasn't around a lot and our mom had her hands full. And we were relatively close in age with only 9 years separating the oldest from the youngest. I think that in really big families years ago the older kids would often look after the younger ones but that probably isn't as common where the kids are close in age. -

My father wouldn't let my older brother or me wear diapers at night as we got older. He felt it encouraged bedwetting and that waking up in a cold wet bed discouraged it. -

Did your mom not make sure the mattress was protected? Both my older brother and I who shared a room were bedwetters but our mother put rubber sheets on our mattresses. The smell I remember the most is from the cleaning solution my mother used to wipe down our rubber sheets. I liked your comment about the mother's mafia. I think that was pretty common years ago. I remember being embarassed listening to my mother talking with some of her friends on the phone about dealing with 'that' problem. -

I wasnt babied or spoiled growing up at all. I grew up in a big family and because of that it was difficult to get attention. -
I'm over 60 and understand that issue. When I go out I need to wear a pullup. When at home I put on an old pair of jeans that gets wet in the crotch and sometimes down the inseams at least two or three times a day. Nighttime is a bit different because usually I dont know Im going. Sometimes if I'm dry and have a full bladder I just let go. I lost my inhibitions about it long ago.

I wet the bed into puberty. Back when I was young it was treated like a discipline issue and my father wouldnt permit diapers after about seven so it meant mornings waking up in soaked sheets and pjs. Maybe because it continued into puberty I developed an attachment to it and while I had only a few real accidents after about 12 or 13 I had 'on purpose' accidents so I could keep the rubber sheet on my bed until I was 17.
