  1. For me, a major draw to your work is that there is always a degree of self-awareness of how fucked up the situations are, which serves the dual purpose of assuaging guilt of having the sort of fantasies described, and of distilling what makes them appealing. Graphic rape scenes are usually a turn off for me, but I'm quite enamoured with Sayla as perhaps the quintessential predatory trans girl. The scourge of women's locker rooms and bros clubbing for an easy lay, whose STDs are less virulent than the psychic contagions her body carries, problematizing the sex and gender of her victims. I'm hoping for a sequel in which she is recruited by queer militants to use her seductive powers for good. Or she could redeem herself through a bashing back scene with Oaklee's dad. You also perfectly capture the powerlessness, confusion, and ineptitude of adolescence, the omission of which too often kills my suspension of disbelief when reading high school romances. Mac && Oaklee's conversations are incredibly frustrating to read, as they should be.
  2. Personally, I wouldn't feel meaningfully safer in a state where 49% of the population was homophobic than I would in a state where 51% of the population was homophobic.
  3. I'm sure you're not a racist, though. 'Cause only Blacks can be racist, right?
  4. Here's what Asher Bauer has to say about radfems:
  5. It's really quite simple to figure out someone's gender identity: 1. Ask said person how they identify. 2. Respect this self-identification.
  6. Here's a proposition for those of you concerned about the perceived gender gap on this forum: make posting shit like this a bannable offense.
  7. I make it a habit to neg any posts complaining about post ratings.
  8. I wouldn't think anything of it, and would see it as a major red flag if someone I wasn't sexual with were to interpret it as anything more than playful cuddling.
  9. I just want to chime in to say that I kind of liked the switching back and forth between narrative voices, so instead of telling you to choose one and stick with it, I'd suggest thinking about how you can maximize the effect on the narrative of retelling events from different perspectives.
  10. To reiterate: And where did I make any judgment that anyone was behaving in an "unhealthy" way? "Projection" is pretty recognizable in colloquial speech as just the assumption that other people are motivated by the same kind of things you(pl.) are. Nothing more, nothing less. In this case someone with a diaper fetish might assume that anyone taking diapers out of a trash can was also a fetishist, even though there are any number of reasons people go through trash, not all of which are undertaken with the goal of finding something useful.
  11. Your readings of Samuel Delaney obviously didn't include any of his critiques of "urban renewal" under Giuliani, or you would understand how the "public health" argument is a weapon of class warfare. You would also hopefully understand the intersection between psychology and law enforcement via the pathologization of "undesirables." The only thing in my post that I could possibly imagine being construed as "psychological terminology" was my use of the term "projection." Seeing as my post was addressed to anonymous internet denizens with whom I have no personal experience, it seems pretty clear that I was not making any sort of personality judgment, but merely commenting on what was said. I also never attacked your credentials, nor do I care what they are. Show your credibility through the persuasiveness of your arguments, not by waving your penis* (er...I mean diplomas, sorry) in people's faces. And thanks for providing a perfect example of how to combine "You're not being intellectual enough" with "You're being overly intellectual." You even dismissed me preemptively as "out of place in a non-professional setting" just in case I did show some background in psychology (never mind that I wasn't the one psychoanalyzing the guy; I was just pointing out that it takes a pretty big leap to get from "some guy's going through people's trash" to "he must be a closet fetishist"). *You list your gender identity in your profile as "male," so I'm making the assumption that you consider "penis" an acceptable term. Please correct me if this is not the case. By no means do I want to condone using misgendering as a debate tactic.
  12. There seems to be a lot of projection going on with the assumption that this guy must be some sort of sexual deviant. My first thought is't "he must be a pedo;" it's "he's probably an obsessive hoarder." Also, pics or it didn't happen (sorry, couldn't resist).
  13. Spell check wouldn't help in this particular instance...
  14. I hate to be nitpicky, but after almost going on a tirade about (what I sincerely hope is) a misreading of your post, I felt the need to suggest you use first person rather than second person statements when getting into these kinds of discussions on identity politics. It would be fairly easy to interpret your post as saying you're not a fan of other people "flaunting [their] alternative lifestyle" rather than not being a fan of flaunting your own lifestyle. Again I'd like to stress that if it was not your intent to come across that way then this is not directed at you. However since I've seen the "shoving it in my face" argument expressed elsewhere on this forum, I feel it necessary to preempt any such statements with this blog post explaining how they are problematic (at least for purported "allies." Card-carrying homophobes will probably just see the implied erasure as a desired feature).
  15. It seems kind of telling that the judge assumed the kid was just having trouble sounding out the word, when it was pretty obvious he was really having a "Did he just say what I think he did?!" moment.
  16. Fetlife seems to have a pretty even split. You don't need a perfect match for all your sexual interests; just look for someone open-minded who you happen to click with. I'd also recommend not going in with the mindset of finding a life partner; it comes across as overbearing if you start bringing up long-term relationship plans prematurely.
  17. "If they want to die they may as well do it now and cut down the surplus population."
  18. I'm gonna be blunt here. The amount of ableism, classism, and fatphobia in this thread is just disgusting. I may not know anything about this guy, but I'm doubtful he or anyone like him had any role in collapsing the world economy. Plenty of posters in this very thread have vouched for the amount of scrutiny required for disability approval, and the unreliable, sometimes-adequate payout. Do you really think this guy could have just showed up and said, "I'd like to be on disability?" Do you really think if he was able to keep a reliable full time job, he would instead opt to live on the pittance offered by the government? Of all the innumerable examples of waste they could have harped on, this is the one they pick? Don't delude yourself thinking this has anything to do with "balancing the budget." The neo-Reaganites are just looking for a new face to point to and say, "These are the sort of freaks and losers who are sucking the public teat dry!"
  19. Not taking anyone's side, but could we please maybe refrain from making accusations about other people's sanity or lack thereof? It's a really messed up tactic for making a point, especially since I'm sure plenty of people here have had their own feelings and experience invalidated or been subjected to non-consensual treatment in the name of "the professional knows best."
  20. That's all well and good that you've never been in a situation where sex work was your best employment option, but don't you think it's a bit presumptuous to assume no one could make an informed choice to pursue a career as a sex worker? As for whether prostitution is "victimless," I'm assuming you mean prostitutes themselves are victims. If so then wouldn't keeping prostitution illegal be punishing the victim, either directly via arrest or barring them from rights afforded to other workers?
  21. degradation is not trading sex for money but it is exchange of social security number for food degradation is not stripping away the minidress but it is not having curtain covering me in a public shower degradation is not faking orgasms on the phone but it is faking compliance with the court order degradation is not even being raped on the street but it is the doctor asking me "why does it bother you if you fuck strangers anyway?" -Emi Koyama
  22. I obviously wasn't around to see her perform, but still have a great deal of respect from what little I've gleaned of her life and music. I mostly knew her as inspiring the Riot Grrrl movement which, as much as I may enjoy the music, presented a fairly monolithic, second wave-esque feminist view; fixating on the experiences of white, middle class women and ignoring intersection with other forms of oppression. So I was pretty surprised when I found out she was both mixed race and bipolar. It really sheds light on the movement; both showing that intersectionality was an issue well before the accepted start of the third wave, and that later devotees neglected this important aspect in the history of such a major inspiration. In most circles I'd only heard of her as an early feminist punk; never as someone who was involuntarily institutionalized.
