I love this. You broke it down so well and I just--aaaaahhhhh!
Here's one thing, though. I don't think Marcus is telling Paul's story. He's basically saying "we all saw what we saw, we all reacted like assholes, and I'm the one who lit the match." In lesser works, this basically makes the guy instantly redeemed and forgiven in the eyes of the Lord, but this is not one of them. I hope Marcus knows that this won't be a clean slate. He needs to realize that yes, owning up to your shit is a good thing, but it is not the end-all be-all when it comes to something like this. I'd like to see him talk to Paul privately, own up to his shit, and maybe ask "hey, we won't be best buds or anything, but can you at least tell me what it is that's going on?"
Paul doesn't have to say yes. He doesn't have to answer at all. He doesn't even have to forgive Marcus. That's the best part. It's so human.
To comfort her, Maddison said:
"I’m a real scaredy-cat too, sis; if I see a spider, I jump right up to the ceiling in fear—and I hate clowns." Maddison couldn't even bear the thought of clowns, and she finished by saying, "I’m going to pick a really, really great costume for the three of us."
Emilly started thinking about her own fears; there wasn't much that scared her, but there was one thing she was too embarrassed to talk about.
I do make an effort to dress so my diapers won't show. But if they still do get noticed, then I don't care.
There is an exception tocthis though. If I'm somewhere where inner wear or underwear is acceptable to be seen, then so is my diaper. An example might be a locker room or at the beach. Places where you're not expected to be full covered.
