Anyone go to a family doctor/urologist in St. Charles County, MO that is Abdl friendly? Wife wants me to go and her with me. She doesn’t know I enjoy them however “I wet myself” to where she knows I wear them to manage, however she wants me to go get checked out. So was wondering if you knew of some doctors that would help me out and have me put down with mixed incontinence. Or at least stress or OAB? If not, what can I say to the doctors to help my case?

Well, it pays to be as honest & straightforward as you can. Just something like "I've been having accidents every so often and have been wearing to manage" is a good starting point.

Start with a primary care provider & refer to a urologist if needed.

OAB means feeling the urge to wet more than every two hours. A broader diagnosis like LUTS may be provided if you don't fit.

You'll probably be asked to do an ultrasound or have a camera inserted into your urethra to rule out things like cancer.

This, 100%.  Lying is going to be hard in this situation.  If you deny any help or tests, it only makes things more suspicious.  However...that doesn't mean you have to say "I'm sabotaging my own bladder control because I want to be incontinent."  (Though, from personal experience, that DOES work if you want to take that route.)

Whatever story you're picking for your incontinence, make sure it makes sense.  For instance, I go with an "underactive bladder/DSD" story, saying "I have a hard time getting my bladder to finally empty, so my options were spending forever in the bathroom hoping it'd empty, or just wear protection and let it empty when it finally decided it wanted to."  You can go with something similar--I'd consider "I have a hard time sensing when my bladder is full, and then I suddenly have to go" (urge incontinence) or "If I drink too much, I can't trust my muscles to hold out" (overflow incontinence).   Pick your line, stick with it, and go forward with anything that's suggested.

If you're prescribed treatment, it's easy enough for it to fail--it's pretty common in urology for incontinence to not respond to treatment.  In short, tell the truth if you possibly can...and if not, tell the closest thing you can that you'll keep straight.

Agree with @rusty pins - I advise AGAINST lying to a doctor about ANY medical conditions:  when I was having problems with my incontinence issues/IBS and diverticulitis, I just said that I was having problems, and i knew that I wanted to deal with it with diapers, but I didn't want the state to try to tell me that I needed to go to a "specialist" to deal with it, as CP is a neurological condition, that has been a part of me ALL my life, so there's no reason in heck for me to have to go to a urologist to be tested, and be "cured" of incontinence, as I am also suffering from mobility issues, that I have had all my life as well, and my doctor also understands that people with CP can and often DO deal with incontinence issues.

Since my Doctor KNOWS of my disabilities, and my mobility issues, and is fully able to make medical diagnosis' on my behalf, he is the one who KNOWS more about my conditions and needs than a Urologist:  I feel that IF there is a medical reason for me to see such a specialist, that would be if there was a problem with the bladder/bowels or a blockage, or some sort of problem that impacts the bladder or bowel or the excretory system.  My doctor is FULLY able to diagnose incontinence and every other condition I have, and can order diapers or other supplies, and can support any Prior Authorization requests that they make, or they would NOT be making the diagnosis' that they do.

As @rusty pinssays, you NEED to be truthful:  I GOT what I needed, and I was HONEST, and FRANK and UPFRONT:  WHY would you want to do anything other than that:  You should be truthful, because you would be questioned as to WHY you think you need what you are asking for.  In my case, I was able to prove my need because of a "underlying condition" and one that is documented to cause the issue(s) I want to solve.

Lastly, If you are NOT truthful and honest, and UPFRONT with your doctor, or you are not disclosing things to him/her, he/she CANNOT adequately treat you if you are hiding things from your doctor!  I prefer to be HONEST and tell HIM what is up:  I don't care if I have PAPER CUT:  If it impacts my ability to do what I have to do, I will report it, because that way, he is aware of what I have reported, and he can then ask me if there are changes to my health - DON'T LIE to the doctor or medical professionals, because your LIFE may depend on your truthfulness!

Good Luck!
