Rachel Emily
Someone suggested to me on this board about a year or so back that I buy terry towels to use as diapers. Considering I can't afford cloth birdseye diapers as easily as I once did, it's beginning to sound like a really good idea. Link to comment

willnotwill
We had tons of these old hotel towels my grandmother stole from the hotel in Miami Beach she stayed at for months a year. Link to comment
dondl2
make sure they are 80 to 100% cotton and wash them several times before using them, and don't forget to get a good pair of plastic pants, Link to comment
Little BabyDoll Christine
With their large size range per item, upwards of 9" waist size. LL Medico is very accommodating along this lines. For instance, if you have a 36" waist there are 5 sizes that will fit you. The other variables are Crotch width and side seam length http://www.dailydiapers.com/board/index.php?showtopic=41931&hl=medico Snap-on http://www.dailydiapers.com/board/index.php?showtopic=41932&hl=medico The same is true of A.C. BabyJune
Like a lot of people here, I started by using towels as diapers and they are perfectly suitable. Now, I order diaper flannel and make my own soaker panels simply because terry cloth towels are a bit bulky. The system I use now is more streamlined and by using soaker panels made from Zorb, it is very effective when it comes to a thin layer absorbing a lot of moisture. Besides, diaper flannel is exactly what I wore when I was a baby. Link to comment
redneck diaper boy
There was a time when baby diapers didn't fit and adult cloth diapers were nowhere to be found. Yes I used towels. They work well. The British use terry on infants. You can use multiples if you want to. Link to comment
Bettypooh
Yup, lots of us got our 'start' with towels and I still use them for the soaker panel between layers of Birdseye when I sew diapers. I get the absorbency of terrycloth without the roughness and it uses less of the expensive material- the best of both worlds Link to comment
diaperloverky
At one point I actually used them as a doubler. Worked quite well. Link to comment

Honu
I don't know what your budget allows, but Wazzoodle has a large selection of cloth materials for making flats. You can still you the terry towels, but place a folded flat made of flannel, birdseye or gauze would feel better and help the terry towel hold more. Good luck and I hope your situation improves soon. welldiapered
Certainly towels are practical as a learning curve for many newbies, readily available, fairly cheap and don't stand out among the washing. Also some may Link to comment
stevewet
Towels can be used to good effect when folded corretly and worn under plastic or vynil pants. Link to comment
