Guest Sasha
This may seem like a dumb question, but I'm really unsure. I've had someone say I am and others say I'm not - well, okay, my bio-mother says I'm not. She also said I need to be locked away for being a kid. Anyway! I do have CMD (congenital muscular dystrophy). My possible inco symptoms are mixed. Link to comment
dlsmd
have you talked to your dr yet??? Link to comment
Wet Knight
My advice would be to look at incontinence sites, on the internet, NOT a fetish site. Link to comment
Bettypooh
We do have quite a few non-ABDL Incontinents here- that is the purpose of this particular forum My incontinence comes ands goes too, and is rarely a complete loss of control, but I do leak unwantedly and IMHO that qualifies me as at least partially Incontinent. There are days when I have full control and don't leak, then there are days when no matter how I try I cannot stay dry. I can go from one to the other in 15 minutes time so I wear diapers 24/7 to avoid problems. If it were me, I'd tell the doctor the truth- they cannot help you with your health if you lie to them With your other medical issues, your being incontinent to any degree is not surprising. I haven't seen my doctor since I had to start wearing protection so I haven't had to speak with him about it, but with my lifetime history of poor bladder control and my not minding that I wear diapers I doubt he will see it as a problem needing treatment other than him wanting to check my prostrate due to my age Remember that your Doctor is on your side, not your enemy, and they only want you to be as healthy as you can be. Whatever information passes between you is confidential and private, so be honest with them Link to comment
rusty pins
I would explain to your doctor or a urologist exactly what you explained in your post. Link to comment
Angela Bauer
One of the longest functioning and most respected organizations, The Simon Foundation for Continence, defines incontinence as a voiding of urine or fecal material off a toilet. Link to comment
Dill_Pickle
Rexx: Simple definition: incontinent: not able to contain either urine or feces long enough or well enough to be able to leave them only in a toilet at approximately normal frequencies. hypercontinent: Not able to release urine or feces at approximately normal freqeuencies and normal levels of effort in the usual places. It sounds like your autonomic/sympathetic/parasympathetic nervous system is all over the place, just depending on how the dystrophy is doing. Kind of similar to effects I get from taking dicyclomine, but also similar to effects I can get from starting or stopping anti-depressants. it's definitely a constellation of symptoms you want your Dr aware of. You also want to make your Dr aware of how you feel about being incontinent only, or more incontinent, since some of the solutions to hypercontinence (which is a medical emergency, especially if you cannot pee) involve becoming more incontinent, and he may assume that is not acceptable to you. As we are on a site where many LIKE their diapers and/or external(condom) catheters, and some play with internal catheters, that assumption is on very shakey ground to me. There also exist catheters for feces, but only when they are really soft or liquid. I'd say you are part-time incontinent and part time hypercontinent -- either so loose, you can't stop going, or so tight, you can't go at all. I am taking some flomax to counter the hypercontinence from the dicyclomine right now, resolving my urinary hypercontinence, but I have no idea what to do on the bowel end. If you want to talk privately with me about this topic in chat without asking first, you may. The rules on PMs in chat are because there is quite a bit of sensitivity to and irritiation with immature people who want drive-by sex, which is really unsatisfying to most. Link to comment
wearer24/7
Hi Rexx, I have recently been diagnosed with having a cyst on my bladder sphyncter, I am now having to use a catheter, as without it I would not be able to urinate at all. I have to wait for another 4 weeks to have the cyst cut out, but after talking to the physician over the phone today he says that I have an 85% chance that after the operation I will be completely urinary incontinent with only a 5 - 10% chance of a full recovery. They have offered me a pipe sticking out of my side which will connect to a bag, but I have refused this as it has risks of infection, and I wouldn't be able to use diapers again. I have now made it very clear to them that I don't mind using diapers, and that before this cyst happened I was actually using diapers 24/7 anyway. When the op is over I will be cathetered for a further 2 weeks to let the wound heal, and then it looks like it is back to diapers for the rest of my life. To answer your question about what is incontinence, I do believe the true definition is "an uncontrollable loss of fluid from the body" so you can class women as incontinent when they are having their monthly period. Baby Brian
Woopie, I fit the definition of being incontinent. Now if I could only become incontinent. Link to comment

Dill_Pickle
I just told my GI specialist that I was willing to accept a couple of acccidents a month in return for no gut pain, and that I did not want to put yet another drug into my system that fools with my autonomic nerves system, since I am up to three -- Lexapro, dicyclomine, and flowmax. The old guy was offering something to slow down the urgency. We are also waiting for my CPAP to do its job, and I expect to be able to further reduce drugs as I finally get proper rest. The flowmax definitely moves me in the direction of peeing when I need to, rather than being stopped up by the dicyclomine...I suspect if I had a bit more, I'd be out of control on the peeing end, but I want to stay dry at night and not change too many diapers during the day. babykeiff
For Baby Brian and others in a similar situation - where their quality of life would improve by becoming bladder incontinent... Link to comment
Baby Brian
Thanks for the info, now if only I can get my urologist on board too. Link to comment
MOLEABE
What BabyKieff was talking about is termed "Functional Incontinence" by Urologist's "the inability to get to the bathroom in time to use the toilet" I have that added to my diagnoses because i'm in a wheelchair and almost everyone who is incontinent and Mobility impaired has that added. Kaidus
My best advice is to seek answers from a medical expert to determine your case; it's the only way I know personally. Link to comment
