superdiaperbaby
They recently made the move "The Baby" instantly streaming on Netflix. It is a 70s B-rated horror movie about women that keep a man as a baby. It is kind of disturbing and funny at the same time. The 70s mumus and hair make it a classic. SDB Link to comment
Angela Bauer
"The Baby" is listed as from 1973, in CFI Color and runs 1:24 hours. It was directed by Ted Post with Michael Margulies as Director of Photography, The stars are: Anjanette Comer as Ann Gentry, a social worker Ruth Roman as Mrs. Wadsworth, a mother Suzanne Zenore as Alba Wadsworth, a daughter Marianna Hill as Germaine Wadsworth, a daughter Erin O'Reilly as a babysitter David Manzy as "Baby" Wadsworth, a son All of thes people had movie careers before and somewhat after their involvement in "The Baby" Ruth Roman had been a major star circa 1950; Anjanette Comer had starred in "The Loved One" and "The Appaloosa"; Marianna Hill went on to play Fredo Corleone's drunk wife Deanna in The Godfather 2 in 1974 Director Tod Post made "Magnum Force" also in 1973 and had made "Beneath The Planet of the Apes" in 1970 where he became a good friend of Don Davis, who has been my loving husband since 1991. Don owned the company which rented "The Baby" all of its production equipment. Director of Photography Michael Margulies went on to do "My Bodyguard" in 1980 and "Police Academy" in 1984. "The Baby" was made before I was born. I first read about it when DPF gave me a batch of Newsletter back-issues when I joined in late 1990. Shortly after I fell in love with Don Davis in May 1991 I mentioned to him reading about "The Baby" Don laughed that few in the production exactly bragged about envolvement on resumes. Then Don took me into his home screening room. In his projection booth he had a complete 35mm answer print. That he threaded onto his projectors so I could see the movie on a 16' wide screen with theater sound. Don confided that he had not run his print of the film for many years and received it because the production company had not completely paid their bill for use of the equipment. DPF gave me a Betamax copy of "The Baby" as a wedding present in 1991, probably because Tommy no longer had a Betamaz player which worked. Don and I bought a top-quality DVD of "The Baby" when those were first sold. Bummer that the home we built in 1996 does not have a pair of 35mm projectors in the media room. Don's collection of 35mm movie prints are kept in a rented film vault in hopes someday we will look at them. Once a year, or so, we entertain our AB/DL pals by running our DVD of "The Baby" on our Barco digital cinema projector on our 20' screen with theater sound. Back in 1973 "The Baby" was considered to be a big budget horror film. It has decent production values. Erin O'Reilly is adorable as the babysitter willing to look after "Baby" Link to comment

BabyChris121675
One wonders if it will be remade in the future with all of the remakes in Hollywood... Just wondering if someday it will be remade and I wonder how the AB community would react to it all if it were indeed remade. I have seen the film once and it creeped me out. nitrous
@ Angela Bauer that is so cool that you guys have 33mm films and a huge theater in your house. Thanks for giving all the info into the actors, actresses and production team. Its cool to note that they were big before and after the film was out. Its so nice of you and Don to let people come by and see the film. Was the screening of The Baby at Don's house your guyses first date? Oh by the wayCongrats to you two on 10+ years of marriage. Also that scene with Erin O'riely is very cute:D @ babyChris I highly doubt that Hollywood would ever commit funding of any kind to make a remake out of a B rated infantilism horror film film. I wish they would some day do something like that. But the most you'll see these days that comes close is something off of mmm...diapers from diaper kitten... amateur porn my ass, they make some good quality stuff for "porn" site. If you were in the director's chair Chris, what would you change in terms of a remake? Link to comment
BabyChris121675
Not sure, never thought about it- I just happened to think about a remake since Hollywood loves to remake movies all the time and yeah- they probably wouldn't fund it or anything like that. It was just a passing thought as I read that thread. I don't know what I would do since I've only seen the movie once and it creeped the hell out of me. So, I don't know what I would do as my comment was more a passing thought since I had been thinking about some of the movie remakes that have been done in the past few years. foundationbaby
There is the movie called "Little Man" Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans. Starring Shawn Wayans. Where the little person robber played by Shawn Wayans ends up on a door step dressed as a baby to get back a diamond that he placed in the home owners purse. He was in diapers and slept in a baby crib. They even had a scene where he was having his temp taken the baby way. Link to comment

Angela Bauer
Hollywood seems to consider sequels and remakes of hit films a safer bet than producing films from brand-new stories. Link to comment

harmony83
As a former film student and long time DL, I loved watching this movie and am glad I was notified about it here. This is a great early 1970's style production. Thanks for sharing info on it. Link to comment
Angela Bauer
Film students would do well to carefully study the career of Ted Post, who directed "The Baby" between larger budget movies. Link to comment
harmony83
It was a well done production Angela, from start to end, it's a style of film I find hard to describe but I don't see much anymore. As I was saying before I have a special interest in cinema from that era, from larger productions to lesser known cinema. Those last few years before Hollywood went very corporate. The type of film used to shoot the Link to comment

Daddyinthehoodie
I saw it a while ago and I always saw it as a horror film or a thriller. As creepy as it got I liked it for how out of the box it was and that ending was interesting. I'd recommend it as a thriller or a B rated horror. Link to comment
