Just Wondering About Cars?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what type of car people here drive?

As personally i like cars and have owned over 20 in the past 8yrs........

At the moment ive got a clapped out ford escort estate(station wagon in the U.S. i think), and i have a rover 620 i think is almost unique to the uk or europe any way......

Also i was looking at personal numberplates for sale and came accross this,

PL 55 YDL wich in the UK you could manipulate to read "PI55Y DL"

and it only cost £495(about $620), would you buy it for your car?

Just a bit of fun i know, but wondered what others thought of it tho????

Tj........ :D

I would say, that unless you don't pay for your own diapers, you should spend the money on more diapers. I believe you would have to be real lucky if anyone else but you would read that code as you want it to be read.

Tj may be just wondering about cars, but to be honest, I am wondering why you so often snipe at people who ask reasonable questions here?

You have sniped at me twice now (and I've only encountered you on here twice.)

Now you are sniping at Tj. May I ask why?

Dolly

dolly i dont see any "sniping" goin on in this thread because i wouldnt pay $620 on personal plates that said i like to wear diapers.

tj, feel free to joke around me. i can take it. take it all the way to the bank, witch i will then rob and buy all the diapers and toys i want!

side note, in my state (mo) i believe personal plates are about $20 and you have them for 2 years i think. or you keep them indefentaly but its a lot cheeper and i still wouldnt get plates advrotiseing my love for diapers.

$620 for a liscense plate?! That would have to be made of platinum and gold, with jewl-encrusted numbers/letters for me to even consider buying... If I had that much money to spend, I'd buy me a new computer and spend what's left on movies and diapers.

As to the question of what I drive: Currently, a 1983 Chevy S-10 Taho named Dusty (which also happens to have been my first vehicle since I got my liscence in HS). There's also Bertha, the Case iH 9250 4-wheel-drive tractor (My work vehicle). While I've also got a '57 Chevy Bel-Air 4-door coupe, she needs a bit of work to be back in proper working order (nothing too significant, just a bunch of little things that'll take some time to get taken care of).

Hi Dolly!! ***HUGS***

Your naming your cars reminded me of a car I had back in the eighties when I was a flight instructor. It was a HUGE monster; a 1971 Buick Electra that was fully loaded. The regulars at the airfield nicknamed it "Thunderbolt Grease-Slapper."

I loved that car. Sold it for next to nothing when I moved to Arkansas. regretted it too.

Cheers!

Cars??? WHOOOboy have I owned a lot. I am 32. I have owned 45 cars. Yep. FORTYFIVE. Like Dolly's alot of them were one step removed from the junkyard but I have matured a bit since my teens and twentys and have a couple of good ones now. My wife has a 2005 Dodge SX2.0 and I drive a 92 Jeep Cherokee.

No chance that I would buy personal plates to advertise my diapered status :)

I think it would be funny to buy those plates.. Do it if you like. I personally own 7 cars right now. Only one of them does not run. I have 3 on the road right now. I think buy reading the posts here there are some people that woke up with a shitty diaper this morning and can't get it off. Why so cranky kids ?

5 XXX......£8,990.

BO 55 XXX......£9,995

P 1 XXX........£12,745

XXX 3....£14,490

4 X.......£130,145

AND GET READY FOR THIS ........... 1X £500,000 ($750,000 ish)

.............................. So in the uk we take our personal plates seriously.

I buy a car to get me from A to B.

Clever use of words on this board, Dolly! ;)

I have had ... wait for it .... TWO cars. My current vehicle is a Honda Civic hatchback that I bought new in 94. I love my Honda!

As for the plates -- I'd never waste my money on vanity plates. Do the vanity plates in the UK have to include numbers too? Here in Canada we can have all letters if we want.

I've been driving for 27 years. I've driven hundreds of thousands of miles on two continents on both sides of the road at speeds more appropriate for planes than cars or motorcycles. I've owned about two dozen vehicles if you count motorcycles, trucks, cars and the odd beast with a license plate. But I've driven hundreds, literally. Everything from the smallest of two-seaters to the largest of trucks.

On bad days, I drive the beater. On good days, I sometimes ride. On long trips I get comfortable. And for those special occassions, I bring out the monster! One is a commuter, one is a bruiser, one is a 2-wheel scare and the last one is wind in your hair.

Sometimes it isn't about travelling from point A to point B, sometimes its about the journey. Its about seeing something new, feeling the sun on your face and the smell of the countryside. Maybe its man's need to explore and experience, I don't know. I just know that a drive (or ride) by myself helps me clear my mind, unwind and escape the things that are weighing on my mind.

I could sooner give up diapers than be tied to just a commuter car. Cars are more than mere transportation for me, they are my sanity check.

Now, I'd be lying if I said I've never taken Dusty a little over the 65mph limit (is it still 55 in other states?) when a good drivin' song's on the radio and didn't like it... But, for the most part, I stick with a Dolly's theme of just getting to the destination and back (multiply by a few hundred or thousand times for driving Bertha [depending on the size of the field and the dirt moisture]). Dusty's goinna be my main vehicle for another 400,000 miles or so, barring a sudden increase of funds. She's really more of a substitute for a pet than just a vehicle... She's been part of the family for severial years and just has that feeling of being a similar type of friend as a good, loyal dog... With the nifty feature of being repairable. B)

Faithful (or Ol' Faithful, depending on who's referring to her [the 57 Chevy]) will eventually become my "for special occasions" vehicle. She was my great grandpa's car, and deserves more respect than a normal-use vehicle. I'm not really sure wether to classify her as a friend or aunt... Very hard to pin down the exact description of the feeling associated with her... Either way, there's no goin' beyond the safe speeds (65 on the improved roads, 55 on the older roads, 35 or below on the dirt roads) with Faithful... She can handle it, but it just don't feel right... But, just sittin in any of the seats, there's always been the feelin' that she wants to protect ya...

Bertha... Well... She's my sidekick... Or is it the other way around? Or, perhaps the term partner's better... Y'know how the cowboys got attached to their horses and saw them as their partners? Similar situation... Bertha's a bohemoth of a tractor, intimidating to those who haven't driven her and anyone seeing her coming from the other way. The rack for sprayer tanks we welded up from a steel I-beam and some pieces of scrap metal kinda add to the the "Duel effect" (people have likened it to the railroad rails on the front of the rig from Duel). She'll give ya a power trip, if y'let 'er... And for good reason... Plenty of power under the hood... And 8 tires slightly larger than the rear tires on most tractors. It wouldn't be hard to drive over any conventional vehicle with her... And there was one time when someone who wasn't paying attenton came very close to driving right under her. I was just inching forward at about 0.1 mph, as I need to turn a corner and couldn't see past the trees, so it wasn't hard for me to stop. But they were probly going about 50 or so and barely avoided hitting the tank rack with the front windshield of their car. They backed up, turned the corner, and flung gravel. Never ran across 'em again. Though, I'm sure that they were wishing they'd worn a diaper... A little lesson to those who drive too fast too often... Pay attention to the road or you might drive right into a large, hard to miss object that can't get out of the way...

You boys are so strange! :screwy:

:Crylol: Looks around and notices the title at the top of the page. Hmm, strange is relative. A sane man in an asylum would be the one out of place.

Ive know a couple of people who have paid over £1000 + for number plates and have seen a few myself I would have liked 3/4 years ago.... Also in UK you keep the plate for life.

Driving now is one of the most stressful things I still have to do :( Anyone one who travels along the m25 for 7 or more junctions each way aday will understand the stress ;)

Got a 5 year old fiesta ( blush ) now, had since new...

Take care all

Chloe

p.s did get 11 points and wreckless driving put on licence when younger, when going through my boy racer seen and a large £££ fine. Had the car of my dreams for 8 months MIT Evo 6 ( Tommi ) caught doing 98 mph in a 60 limit, my insurance at renewal went from extremly expensive to 8 times the amount... Can probably guess had to sell her :crybaby:

Cor Chloe, did you say you travel on the M25? I think you might be fibbing - that's one giant car park :D

Snap! I've got a Ford Fiesta called Madam Beaujolais (you'll never guess what colour it is :P ) but it's considerably older than yours.

*Off Topic* I think you and Miss Ruffles should get together in The Cosy Corner to chat about planes and dresses - seems you have a shared interest in both.

Wow..Sorry Dolly just noticed your age was listed as 99. anyway...

Drive a 93 GMC Typhoon, and a 95 Corvette. My tags are Repaid1 & Repaid2. I never thought anybody would notice the meaning. I forgot about my front tag (in Ohio) if you look in rearview mirror, you can read it. REPAID1 = 1DIAPER. ooops, well thats how I met my Mommy, so wasn't all that bad. B)
