Some experimentation is needed. Be sure to keep all electrodes below the belt to avoid sending electric current through the heart.

Do make sure that any pieces which could drop off are secured by the retrieval line.

The smell of pee in my diaper does bother me. I use Tena pull ups which have some odor protection but not enough. Before use I spray more deodorant on. If wet after the spray I hang then out on the line or give them a short time in the dryer. Seems to work.

The best night's sleep I have ever had is using a regular catheter connected to a 2 litre night bag. It drains perfectly during the night. My most comfortable stent has been a holey foley with a slit rather than a hole. The slit being carefully placed on the underside. This I can use without being aware of during the day but it doesn't always empty at night in bed resulting in being waken with a fairly full bladder. Getting up in the morning, I need to don plastic pants as a flood is on the way. You are right Cathdiap. Keep experimenting !

Cathidap, about how many days a month do you use a stent? I am using one at the moment but it is not 100% comfortable, but almost.

Just now I am using a holey foley catheter with a diaper and have a tens unit attached to a prince Albert ring and another ring behind the glans. The gentle stimulation is very pleasant. The environment is nice and damp for good connections.

I use pull ups. Firm fitting panties worn over them are essential to keep things in place otherwise gravity takes hold after an hour or so.

I have used one successfully to fill the diaper whilst sleeping. It's the cleanup !!!

The 'holy foley' is easy to make by simply making a hole on the opposite side to the filling line so that the hole is beyond the outer sphincter. The catheter is then blocked with a clamp or plug.

An interesting variation on the 'holy foey'. If trying this, avoid touching the sterile cath with fingers. After removing from the pack, snip the piece out on the side opposite the filling line for the balloon then soak it in alcohol (about 80% mixed with water) and rinse with boiled water. Hold with sterilized tongs while applying sterilized lube and for insertion. Plugging the fill hole is always dodgy and it seems pointless with this method. One could just tie the tube very tightly before cutting. Quite a lot has been written about stents in this thread. Taking 'hiprex' tablets reduces the risk of infestion.

There are chastity cages with catheter attachments. One would need to be modified to reach the bladder, maybe 10 inches in length. Part of an intermittent catheter could be used. It would need to be sterilized before entry. Drainage into a diaper would present a serious infection risk.

I have been playing around with stents for some time without a great deal of success however this one works quite well. It is 100% comfortable (can't feel it) and doesn't migrate however drainage when asleep is not so good; still working on that. The stent is made from the end pieces of two Fr14 catheters joined with a short piece of thin tubing from a spray pump bottle. The sharp edge at the join is filled with a little silicone sealant. The O ring which goes into the bladder is about 18mm diameter rubber. ( My supply of silicone O rings are on a slow boat from China) The retaining line passes through the centre joining tubing, out the side of the inner section of catheter and in again (to take some of the stress when withdrawing the stent) then secures the inner O ring in place before returning to the outer retaining ring. Total length for me is only 9cm (3½ in) but then I have had a radical prostatectomy so my urethra is shorter than most. I had removed the rounded end on the inner piece of catheter in an attempt to improve the flow when asleep. Will try again with larger catheters, perhaps just a single piece. The 'pusher' is shaped from a 9mm plastic knitting needle.

I'm happy as a pig in mud at the moment. For the last 48 hours I have been 'wearing' my first totally comfortable urinary stent. It's not coming out anytime soon.

On another thread, "Hiprex" was suggested. (Hiprex has anti bacterial properties which suppress or eliminate uninary bacteria; contains Hexamine Hippurate, 1g) I have been using it for the last few months without problems. Prior to that I was taking cranberry capsules 2 or 3 times a say. I live in Australia. Take care!

You will probably find any butt plug becomes uncomfortable after a short time.

I have always found taking a shower awkward with a stent in place as one doesn't want to dribble all over the bathroom floor. I use pull ups and putting one on when not properly dry is no fun. I thought of wrapping 'it' in some sort of cloth before leaving the shower. I have a stack of single use, toweling cloths about 10 in sq saved from flights. One of these is wrapped and held in place with an elastic band while I dry off at leisure. Anything would do. Sorry ladies, won't work for you.

I have kept foley caths in for up to 6 weeks with total comfort. The use of 30cc balloon is not so usual. I have heard that bladder cramps are more likely with the larger balloons. If you persist, perhaps with 5 or 10cc balloon the body soon becomes accustomed. It's great to use a cath connected directly to a 2 litre night bag when sleeping. I cover the bag with a hot water bottle cover. Keeps my feet warm in winter.

A catheter connected to a night bag certainly promotes better sleep but I am not sure it is worth the trouble. I do use one sometimes.

If it goes all the way to the bladder and you have some way to keep it there. CAUTION NEEDED.

I use Cranberry 30,000 capsules. (equivalent to 30g (1oz) fresh cranberries) One in the morning and one in the evening whilst there is something inserted plus for 48 hours after removal. Also I take 2 prior to insertion. Of course, I have no idea if it works but hopefully by causing the urine to be acidic, it discourages the formation of bacteria in the bladder.

Could the smell be caused by something you eat from time to time and have nothing to do with the stent?

The green cone is made to plug into and block a catheter. The red clip is made to close small plastic freezer bags and works just as well.
