  1. You never had a UTI doing that paragirl123
  2. Just put in a Biocath D226514. Man this is the most comfortable Cath I have used so far. I thought I would try a 14ch, glad I did maybe the 12ch I've been using was to small. 2 Days in feels great.
  3. Yeah tried Condom Caths they just slip off. I have a prescription for Bioderms and leg bags with night bags but after a few days of use the Bioderms just hurt like hell.
  4. I wanted to do another Catheter. So today I installed a Lubbri Sil Bard D1758S14 from a Catheter tray I ordered from eBay (x3 All in in date till 2023) . These trays come with everything you need to get going. So I injected the lube and rolled it down my tubes, waited 5 mins and put on a rubber glove. Deep breath. Here we go, It's in and pee is flowing (took a few mins) This pipe is a 14ch and man it feels good, Very comfortable during the day. I say feels good and mostly it does, I've had this in for 2 days now. Man when I wake up in the morning is not good. I put that down to the little fella standing up. It's hard to explain. It's not pain it's just very, very uncomfortable. It's bearable but wakes me up. This Catheter is connected to a Bard 500ml S (short tube) leg bag during the day. These bags are rubbish, the pipe from the bag to Catheter connector is about 2" and kinks a LOT. It drains ok but on my undies that I have added buttons too to hold leg bags they just kink (I'm going to change this one out to a Coloplast 500ml bag) They have Anti-kink tubing and they work really well. I use them with the BioDerm XLS sheath I get on the NHS. I wipe the little fella with a baby wipe before bed and wash him with soap and water in the shower in the morning after a number 2. I use alcohol wipes to clean the output tube from the leg bag and connect that to a 2000ml night bag when I go to bed. I empty the night bag into the toilet and wash it out with 2000ml of plain cold water in the morning. People will say Catheter! ouch! I love my nappies but peeing in a bag is cleaner with les mess and has changed my life. I would love to try the holey Catheter but I just don't have the nerve. I hope someone will find this post useful
  5. Thought I'd post a update. I'm still using Catheters but I've moved from a 12ch to a 14ch. Still with a leg bag 500ml connected to a 2000ml night bag for night time. So I've been trying other devices because the Bioderm has been discontinued by my supplier.. So I've tried SenSura Mio Kids urostomy bag. This was stuck over my penis with Pelican Contour flange extenders... They last half a day then start to leak. Lets move on... We tried the Hollister Male Urinary Pouch External Collection Device... They last half a day then start to leak Now I'm trying Male pubic pressure urinal Fig 101 (I not going to hold my breath) this I hope will arrive in the next few days. I'll leave this 14ch in till it comes. I've told my nurse from Nightingale that I'm fed up now. I just want something that going to work. She was so under standing. I said to her look I've ordered this Biocath Bard Tray Foley Catheterisation Tray 14Ch from Ebay for 99p (£3.20 Postage) First thing she said was "you know the dangers of Foley catheters don't you?" Well yeah I know that if I get a UTI It'll take a doctor a lot less time to prescribe antibiotics than it'll take time to prescribe any device that we need to test/try to find what works for me. Normally takes 10 days from the nurse to my doctors to get there shit together. Yeah. nappies, well just work. If you can find one that won't leak on you (trust me I have tried loads) It's a cost thing I guess I'm trying to get at here. Nappies (Hey I don't mind them) are well expensive. Other over priced devices that last a day) Over a Catheter that could should last 3 months are just cheap as chips. So let me brake this down. One months supplies Nappies £100 I know this cos I've paid it. Bioderm £86. + Bags (Leg) £56 + (Night) £60 That's a change every 2/3 days SenSura Mio Kids urostomy bag about the same as the Bioderm kit +£40 for flange extenders Hollister Male Urinary Pouch External Collection Device again about the same as the Bioberm kit Bard Biocath Foley Catheters £16.49 online last 3 months. Bags (Leg) £56 + (Night) £60 That's a change every 5/7 days. Just cheaper right? Even if I need to have antibiotics for a UTI/CUTI Not sure if I've let you know what my problem is tbh. Well here goes. I wet the bed every night. I pee a lot during the day like every 20 mins or so... Sometimes during the day it just goes, sometimes I manage to get there in time only to fumble to find it(It's retracted) and then once I do it's to late. Now I know what your thinking "see a doc" Nope been there done that. I've always been like that. Mum called me baby bladder when I was a kid. So I really don't think anything is wrong with my plumbing but to honest it's just life. At 50 I'm not going to let going to the loo every 15/20 mins rule my life.
  6. Thanks for your input @mick_dl I do appreciate your time. I get what your saying. I'm not sure if I have explained my situation correctly. I have tried so many ways to overcome my bedwetting. I just find that the catheter route just solves them all, Including the daytime problems. To be honest I'm not sure if I'm just looking for the ok from other people. "Yes, catheters will get you through this" I dunno.
  7. I disagree nappies are so much harder to hide than a leg bag. Messy was maybe the wrong word to use. Hygienic might have been a better word to use. I get continence products (Bioberm and bags) I don't get nappies for free. As I said the Bioderm starts to hurt after about a week so renders them unusable after a week I go back to nappies to recover. Then go back to the Bioderm. I just find a catheter so much more convenient.
  8. Yeah I know most/some of you guys and girls would say stay away. I've been messing with catheters for well a long time 10 years of so. Last one I had in was 12ch for 3 weeks without problems (well a little uncomfortable) 500ml leg bag for daytime use, Connected to a 2000ml night bag while I sleep. Anyway, I have been suffering from bedwetting all my life with the odd day time accident so nappies it was for me every night. So here's the thing I don't mind the nappies but the catheter just solves a bigger problem for me. No bulk of a nappy and less mess/clean-up My GP knows that I wet the bed and we have tried lots of products (nappies, external catheters and even kids colostomy bags over the little fella. I've been using a Bioderm product with some success) But they hurt like hell after a week of use. Now we all know the complications of using a Catheter and I do make a point of keeping everything very, very clean. But I wanna use them full time now. Here in the UK we get stuff like this on prescription for free. The Bioderms that I use at the moment are £80 for a 30 day supply not to mention the 10 none sterile leg bags and the 10 sterile night bags I'm going through ever month. 1 Bioderm last 3 days so I change leg bags and night bags ever 3 days too. So I've been ordering Catheters on the net I can get 5x 12ch Catheters for just over £20 like I said the longest I have used one is 3 weeks. Then went back to nappies or the Bioderm product. Took a long time here but should I just use the catheter for longer on not? You know as well as I do that my GP will probably wont proscribe them but life is just so much better/easier with one in. The quality of my metal heath is also just so much better while the catheter is in. Oh here's a link to the Bioderm (I'm sure some will ask) https://www.clinimed.co.uk/urology-continence-care/products/incontinence-products/bioderm Thanks for taking the time to look and respond, hope I posted to the right forum.
  9. So I've this catheter in for 3 weeks now. Was going to take it out in the morning. Why fix something that isn't broken. Do I leave it in or not? Just feels right.
  10. Hey guys and girls. Been watching this for awhile. I use catheters cos it saves me going to the loo every 5 mins. Had one in for almost 2 weeks now 14ch started with a 12ch. Been useing them on and off (most I used one was 7 days) I Love diapers but starting to love the feeling of catheters more (Catheter to leg bag. Leg bag to night bag for night time) I love the idea of the hole cath and but just don't have the nerve for a stent. I would love to just leave the Cath drain into a nappy (but we all know the dangers of that) I use a external Cath (on prescription) called BIODERM. I get them free on the NHS I also get leg bags that are not sterile to attach to them. I have the problem of my little fella hiding so condom caths just don't work for me. I have had UTI's and sepsis from them in the past. Now I know what your thinking. This Cath has been in for 2 weeks and no problems at all. I know it's only early but I have had no pulling or sores from the Bioderm end of the little fella is a little sore but to be honest I can live with it. Bloody hurts like hell after a week of Bioderms ( they last 2/3 days before they need to be changed) and have to go back to nappies. Then I get really bad Bum sores. Anyway I have been toying with the idea of telling my GP (Really nice guy) that I wanna move to Foley Caths. Problem I have is that I'm not incontinent I just pee a lot (always been the same) I do wet the bed (runs in the family 3 of my 5 siblings still wet the bed) almost ever night hence the nappies and then the Bioderm. Should have said I'm 50. I've been buying leg bags (sterile) off Ebay. If I could get them free is that just me being selfish? It's just a swap right. Once I put this cath in I've been so happy. No bum sores, no UTI (again I know its only been almost 2 weeks) I do Keep stuff clean. Little fella gets a wash every morning and a baby wipe just before bed. Would it be wrong of me to go see the GP and say hey I put this cath in and I like the way it works for me? Should have probably added I only use OptiLube Syringes - Sterile Lubricating Jelly.
